buck cluck has earned an infamous reputation among critics and fans...his main character flaw is a really big one, in that he only "loves" his son when it's convenient for him.
He's one of the most unlikable characters I've ever seen in a film.
Yup. Him and Mushu in Mulan 2
Isn't this kind of intentional on the part of the story, though? I mean, Chicken Little even makes a point of this near the end of the film, and it seems like Buck finally learns to love his son unconditionally. That's how it seemed to me, anyway.
clericofchaos1 I don’t even remember their names it took a sec to figure out who you were talking about
Buck's worst enemy is Mr. Enter
Chicken Little is Zootopia's weird forgotten uncle
To me, Chicken Little is Zootopia's little brother.
Ricky The Movie Lover how is Chicken Little their little brother if Chicken Little came first.
Chicken little is the retarted big brother of zootopia
Grilli Smi thats a little offensive
When Zootopia was announced, Part of me thought it was supposed to be a sequel to Chicken Little
The saddest thing: This was made by the same guy that did Emperor's New Groove and Cats Don't Dance.
Weirdly enough, I can totally see the connection in terms of tone and the fast animation.
I'm starting to think Disney took creative control from him when making this movie.
Proof he’s a man of many talents .And this movie is great and is one of those beautiful na ddelectable talents oh yeah baby
mark dindal can do misery and funny well in does movies
Garfield 2024
This was disneys attempt of shrek
+94unclechuck How come?
Sorry, I don't get it. How is that related to Shrek?
Similar humor, storytelling style, yeah O get what you mean.
Wow! Your right, too bad they did a horrible job :(
I think I get the analogy. This was one of Disney's first attempts at doing a very subversive story, not just a regular fairy tale with subversive jokes, like Aladdin. But unlike Shrek, which shakes up the ending, this does nothing to surprise anybody.
Fortunately, years later, Zootopia would get the whole animal world thing right.
Rutger van den Heuvel it's very overrated
Brandon Worthing Frozen is more overrated, Zootopia deserves the acclaim in a good way
Completely applaud them for it, I couldn't believe how many people thought it was going to be another Chicken Little
You can say that again
I agree with that
The theater scene would have been a lot better if they animated the scene in Raiders with a dog playing Indie, along with the sign outside saying "Indiana Bones: Raiders of the Lost Bark".
Absolutely
Can we all agree that Doug Walker made his opinion regarding this excuse for a film clear in a manner MUCH more calmly/reasonably than Mr. Enter did?
I didn't mind Mr. Enter's review, but one thing that I'll admit annoys me with him is that it feels like he gets too angry/takes things too seriously with whatever it is he's reviewing (I'll admit, I never got to finish watching his Emoji Movie [a movie that I'll admit feels OK to me despite never having watched it] review because his shouting and rants became too annoying to listen to after a while).
@@theonliestrud5080 He takes EVERYTHING too seriously and gets genuinely super angry in his videos, and that really makes a lot of people leave his videos. People don't want a screaming shitfest as a review, people want an actual review.
@@xxkittyxx2599 Cosmonaut Verity Hour is the one who you looking for. His reviews are fun (watch The Amazing Spider-Man ).
@@mediatech1588 definably man I love his reviews sometimes they can be hit or miss but for the most part they're enjoyable
I instantly remember Mr Enter's Review whenever I see the name Chicken Little
+rawpower2025 same lol, and his massive hatred for the dad :P
+Soma Cruz YES .I seriously think that's one of the things he hates most
The dad is a cock.
+rawpower2025 Not surprised considering Mr.Enter is a NC rip-off, and the guy takes himself way, way too seriously.
+rawpower2025 Mr. Enter is a hypocritical hack.
It was Disney trying to be Dreamworks...needless to say, it backfired.
I think Disney was trying to be Jimmy Neutron as well
This is nevertheless as disgracefully unfunny and annoying as shark tale is
@@kelseyhaight1698 Exactly. And with the same random references and awful lessons, especially for kids!
I remember being ticked off that the main "kid" character had an adult voice. That always annoys me.
He's in high school. He's supposed to sound that way.
I think according to the deleted scenes, he has stayed small while his voice is like a teenager, and his nickname "Chicken Little" actually came from his classmates.
blueskyscribe This isn’t the only time that’s happened.
He sounded a bit more teenager like, but it didn't come across the best.
Wow, Doug's description of the side characters in this movie also applies to the Internet populace...
Yeah
I (as an 8 year old) was so excited to watch this movie on theaters because the promotional campaign from it was huge, and really make the film look like a super hilarius time, but when I finally see it, the only scene where I laugh was when they play dodgeball, after that...I was just EXPECTING to laugh, but it never happend. Definitely one of the most disappointing movie-experiences from my childhood.
Super Varo Blog I felt the same thing!!! It was like Lilo&Stitch, the hype was everywhere!! I was so surprised by what Doug said, the meanery level is so high, specially on the father. I believe 100% of the reasons was because of this horrible attempt to be like Shrek (same with Enchanted) "Hey! We can make fun of fairy tales/ourselves too!"
Just... No.
I used to enjoy this flim but looking at it now this doesn't age well
Super Varo Blog I remember not really laughing at it but I remember really liking it. I even had the video game which was honestly way better than the movie. Now that I’m older this movie really isn’t good at all and I understand why it didn’t do well.
It happens
Same
They've come a long way with zootopia!
theartistisgod very overrated
While I do think that Home on the Range is the worst Disney animated film, I still consider this as a mess for Disney.
We just thank God that Disney is doing better things recently.
I always thought Cinderella(especially the straight to DVD sequels) was really bad. I don't know it was just really boring.
Not really. The worst is Frozen
+ShockwaveXd619 How?
AfroWarrior27 My opinion.
ShockwaveXd619 That doesn't answer my question at all.
How is Frozen worst than Chicken Little?
If the Nostalgia Critic AND Mr. Enter both hate this movie, that's pretty bad.
+Brandon Roberts *NO*
Brandon Roberts I always imagined them reviewing the Spongebob Movie together.
+Raccoon Bro But that movie was good.
+Kyros Vulk-Oliver *YES!*
Mr.Enters a bitch.
It’s him talking about the lawnmower joke that makes me so happy that I don’t think about movies the way he does.
I heard a RUclipsr say they liked this film and I’m scared for their mental health
Love how you used "One Little Slip" by Barenaked Ladies as the background song for this video. they're my all time favorite band.
Hate to break it to you, but they used the song in the movie
The orange alien is called kirby named after kirby from kirby
Tania Clews He's called Kirby after Kirby from Kirby also known as Kirby because Kirby and Kirby are Kirby which Kirby is Kirby and Kirby...
thas a lot of kirbs
Actually, the funny thing i love about The Simpsons, all the characters randomly like/hate another. In some episodes they don't get along, in another, they're friends playing poker in a bar lol.
I don’t see why almost everyone on the Simpsons (except for Bart) is such a cowardly worthless fucked up asshole that never does shit with their lives I guess it’s also Homer to blame enough for it to have a love/hate relationship with the show
The Simpsons turned into the same disgraceful fucked up mess as Justin Bieber did only Bart deserves better he’s that kinda boy that deserves good things
I feel like zootopia was like this except better
A lot better
That's what you get when you have the brilliant mind of John Lasseter helping out, along with one of the directors of Tangled.
@Ahanna Ngwangu omg chill it was just a comparison Jesus...
You know what’s funny? This wasn’t Disney’s first attempt at the story.
They made one in 1943 that was dark, interesting and actually made you feel intelligent after watching it.
Watch that instead, but fair warning, don’t expect a “Classic Disney Ending”.
You can't lie though one little slip is a great song !
In March, we're getting another movie about anthropomorphic animals called Zootopia. It actually looks better than this.
we can only hope
Are you a furry? The only people who actually seem to know about that movie are furries
+MegaSoulhero Infinitely better, and mark my words, it will be a success.
I randomly came across the trailer a few weeks back. Looks kind of like a mix between a kid's movie and a movie targeted at furries. maybe it is.
+Kyros Vulk-Oliver or people who have gone to the cinema recently.
I think I was the only kid in the universe who loved this movie
*Sigh* This is one of my guilty pleasures.
+Conner Woodruff
I admittedly liked it too.
Also, the GBA game was legitimately awesome.
I looove this movie😂
Conner Woodruff I loved it to I want to watch it now to see how different it is from my childhood
I love it though nobody even knows it exists or is from disney
I remember listening to "One Little Slip" in this movie and falling in love with the song.
I actually really, REALLY love this film.
3:03 Strangely? I hear that same complaint for almost everyone who talks about this!
did anyone ever realized that no comments ever have any dislikes
Yeah. Next thing you know, the Dislike button will be removed.
The loads of bunnies being pulled out of the carriage was really funny atleast
I just got the Fish Out of Water being King Kong joke. Kong WAS a fish out of water in the city. I'm sure this movie would/could have been great it they had just delayed it a year or so to touch it up. Heck, just remaking it with the same asset is they still have them could be worth it.
Awwwww I wanted you to do a Nostalgia Critic about it
3:38 Not sure if it's still on the page, but Chicken Little's dad was listed as a villian on the disney-wiki, described as an unlikable character that is mean to his son.
I still love this movie. Call it a guilty pleasure or whatever but I find it good, fast paced fun.
With That Indiana Jones joke, even when I was a little kid I saw it as that’s what animation is in Chicken Little’s world. That’s why at the end when it shows the Chicken Little movie, it’s animated which means it would be Live action in Chicken Little’s world
Lol I look at the animation in this and then I look at the animation in their upcoming film Zootopia. Man has Disney improved greatly
loved this movie as a kid. Funny how I don't hate the father, maybe because I've seen fathers like him so it wasn't anything new
Game of Thrones:
Buck: Your no son of mine
Chicken Little: I am your son. I have always been your son.
* shoots an arrow *
When I first saw this back when it opened in cinemas, I experienced a massive headache from it. I remember hating Buck Cluck and the townspeople a lot. Especially, the scenes with Buck, they pissed me off. Right up there with the parents and the people in Timothy Green.
With all this talk about Buck, I feel that there should be more hate for the townspeople so that it'd be equal.
I saw the movie as a kid and I hadn't acknowledged the mean-spiritedness until now
When I first saw the trailer for this movie, and hearing the line:
"Son, there's something I want you to know! What dad? In about 3 seconds I'm going to scream like a little girl!"
I really expected this movie to have a lot of fourth wall/self-aware humor. But after hearing all the negative reviews, I'm glad I never saw it.
I used to like this movie, but now I think it's pretty bad. Not the worst, but bad...
Arif Akyuz me too
I used to like this movie as a kid but I watched it again recently and I have to agree with Doug.
I saw it only once in theater, and I had a good moment overall... that's all I remember
Chicken little was so....not memorable no one even compared it with Zootopia
ana malazonia zootopia is just as awful
Zootopia was pretty boring, but it wasn't bad. It was... okay. I enjoy the attentions to details and the light jokes more than the actual movie, which I thought was the weakest part of the movie
Zootopia is a genuinely good movie...
Chicken Little on the other hand is probably the worst disney animated movie (not counting sequels) ever.
Ciaran Smith
It's the most painfully average Disney movie ever made. Replace it with humans, and replace Judy/Nick with a colored and Caucasian person, and you pretty much have a generic plot. The only legitimately unique thing about the movie was the scenery and attention to detail. It looks beautiful and has nice visual gags and attention to detail. Otherwise, it's prolly the most average Disney movie out there.
1. So... your argument consists of 'if you remove all the creative elements, the movie's not very creative!' Yeah , well no shit... but those creative elements ARE there... so moot point.
2. Even if you do as you said, there's still a strong movie there, the dialogue is very sharp and often very funny, the moral/central allegory (while a touch overbearing in places) has some REALLY strong elements to it, such as Judy realising her hypocrisy and how that humanises the concept of racism to something we can actually learn from. as opposed to the usual caricatures which try to paint it black and white, that otherwise good people can never possibly be even slightly racist too... and the two leads are very well realised with good backstories that tie in well to their arcs moving forward, and some strong and well executed messages about perseverance. that coupled with the things you mentioned, plus great direction and voice acting is more than enough to make it a good movie in my eyes..
I hated this movie even as a kid.
They tried too hard to make it funny with pop culture references that made no sense with the universe, which made the jokes not funny at all. The pacing is awkward, it's clunky as hell, the premise is cliché and badly executed, the characters are forgettable, I can go on and on with a long list of the things this movie did wrong.
It was a failure for a reason.
I love this movie. soundtrack mainly. one little slip is by my favorite band too!
This movie was my childhood!😊
I absolutely HATE this movie with a passion! >:(
Same
+kristof gergely Same feeling.
I will forever regret begging my parents too see this wasted material
It's one of my favorites... 😭
+kristof gergely Some do I.
I loved this movie still do
I loved this movie
Who else came to this 4 years later with the actual review already done
I grew up with this movie. I love it then and I love it know.
I liked it. Zach Braff was good.
+BoringMan yeah plus I really like "One little slip" I think it's a good song
+I'm Not Nicole Grey This movie introduced me to that awesome song.
I do admit that song was awesome!
The Cinematic Mind ;)
+BoringMan I didn't think he was that good. He talk sound like a kid. He just sounded like Zach Braff
This is the most fair review for this movie I've ever seen. Despite it's flaws (which are definitely noticeable), I actually enjoyed this movie. I guess this was one of those times where I managed to turn off my brain and enjoy the movie even with how bad it was. I have a part of my brain that can do that, and I'm so glad I do, because when most people get disappointed, I just get entertained and don't have to think much more of it.
And 6 years later, Beardless Doug would put it on his channel again for Nostalgia Critic
I remember this being one of my childhood favourites, something about the odd humour style I really liked, my whole family really liked it. Haven’t seen it since obviously but there’s some perspective from someone who grew up with it. Also I found the alien scenes really creepy, I was scared when the panel was in his room and when they went on the ship, also the aliens metal designs, really creepy to a kid
Who else came back from the ACTUAL Nostalgia Critic review?
This movie is one of my guilty pleasure,it’s not perfect but it’s a lot better movie than something like mars needs moms, the wild or home on the range,I hope Disney someday remakes this movie someday, because it might have the potential to improve over the original.
I thought the same as well for the people part, I was like why are they so mean and cruel to one single child? When the alien invasion scene happened I was like YEAH ZAP THEM FOR CHICKEN LITTLE!!! lmao.
I saw this once years and years ago, and thought it was a Dreamworks movie for the longest time. This was by Disney?
Yeah I know right! For years after finding out that this was a Disney movie, I just couldn’t hear myself call this a DISNEY movie.
What kind of Disney animated movie includes pop culture references and clips from a blockbuster like Indiana Jones?? 🤨
this looks like a movie you would see on the screen in a movie
I remember really liking this movie as a kid. I haven't seen it recently enough to change my mind or anything, but maybe I'll check it out and see if it's as good as I remember!
It’s an okay movie. I have a soft spot for it because of nostalgia. I loved this movie when I was a kid
I was a kid when this first came out and I really liked it. It was one of my favorite movies. Although now I can definitely see the movies flaws, and it's become more of a guilty pleasure
this movie is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine
Still my fav movie that I watched at age 8 :)
I love this movie since I'm a kid. :)
The best part of Chicken little was his appearance in Kingdom hearts 2
My brother and I love this movie
I loved this movie as a kid
198*5* the black cauldron
199*5* pocahontas
200*5* chicken little
GAWSH is there some sort of curse on disney that whenever they put out a film in s year ending with '5' the film is destined to be hated?
So that’s why they didn’t make a movie in 2015 (not counting the Pixar films)
when I saw the father, I didn't really see him as this mean spirited person, but more of just a guy that clearly never wanted to be a father, but ended up having to be one anyway. ya know?
All I can see is a bastard who wants nothing to do with his son and treats him like shit because he doesn't want to hurt his own image. Wanted a kid or not he has one and there is no excuse for some of the things he says and does
(btw if this sounds hostile or mean I want to be clear, I'm not mad at you, I just fucking hate this chicken.)
but it's not like he was abusive or anything though, just really distant.
Christopher Jones I’ve never seen anybody get so worked up over an animated chicken before
@@darkcylander
Just really distant can be as psychologically scarring as abuse.
my dad and I were never close and I turned out ok.
It looks like the best thing to come out of this movie was the fact that Chicken Little made for an insanely good Summon in Kingdom Hearts 2.
The only thing I liked about this was at the end with macho Chicken Little Voiced by the late Great Adam West. It’s Adam West, you could put that guy in anything and he’ll still be funny.
I don't know why, but I really like this movie.
I liked this movie
Disney (looking back at Chicken Little): Sheesh, I can’t believe I made that. At least I moved on to other stuff. Right, Pixar?
Fact: In 2001, Director Mark Dindal who was fresh from directing The Emperors New Groove proposed an idea for a modern adaptation of Chicken Little, at which point the protagonist was an emotional little girl chicken who was overly imaginative yet very anxious and had both parents alive. She is sent to a summer camp named Camp Yes-You-Can in order to improve her self-esteem, after a diabolical sky falling debacle. In Camp Yes-You-Can, she meets the friends that the male Chicken Little ended up having (only with a male Ugly Duckling instead of a female one). She then discovers that the camp counselors are literal wolves in sheep's clothing that plan on fattening up the campers so to eat them in a feast afterwards and even her hometown. However, she and her new friends end up saving the day.. In these early days, Chicken Little would be voiced by Holly Hunter, facing off against a nefarious camp counsellor voiced by Penn Jillette. After working on the project and getting approval from the Disney executives, Dindal was called into Eisner’s office and bluntly informed Eisner didn’t think audiences would accept a female chicken as an action hero, nor would they warm to the plight of a young girl attempting to repair her relationship with her father. Eisner also felt a male-centric film was more likely to be a box office hit, with his theory that young girls will see films about boys but young boys won’t watch movies about girls. As such, he demanded the Dindal rework the project with a male chicken protagonist in the lead.
This is the Cars 2 of WDAS.
Nah, this is their 2000's Pocahontas. Some people like it and most don't.
Chicken Little is my favorite fairy tale, as I think it's important emphasize caution about mob mentality starting as young as possible. It's such a shame Disney, the king of fairy tale adaptations, made this one so poorly. I mean this isn't the first time Disney has changed enough about a fairy tale to miss the point of the original, but usually the changes are for the better, like in Frozen, or at least entertaining like in The Little Mermaid.
If I ever somehow ended up owning Disney, there's at least four changes I'd plan to make to pre-existing properties:
1. Re-release The Little Mermaid with an alternate ending closer to the book that would give Ariel an actual arc.
2. Re-release Frozen with an alternate ending where Hans tries to kill Elsa out of panic, instead of some hand-wringing villain scheme.
3. Re-cut Hunchback of Notredame. I don't think I even need to elaborate the changes there.
4. Create a Chicken Little movie and pretend this version just never existed.
+Annie Trinity Disney actually made a short back in the 1940's on Chicken Little if you want to check that out.
***** Huh, thanks
WTF? December 2012? It felt like 10 years ago!
The review was recorded in 2012. This movie, however, came out in 2005
We're all living in 2018, while this guy lives in 2022.
Didn’t even know this was a Disney movie
I like this movie, it's fun and the humor is easy going.
I find this movie a guilty pleasure. It sucks, but it was also my childhood, being a 1999 baby. Anyone born between 1996 and 2001 might feel the same way...
I only watched it because the chicken little character was a summon in kingdom hearts two
wait wat
Skull Sniper
The main character was a summon in kingdom hearts 2
"Where he builds a giant building and acts like King Kong. Why?" Because he's the class clown, obviously.
This is Disney at their Disneist. Mean-spirited underdeveloped jokes, story and characters.
This is the second time you've talked about this movie and in both you say she is literally called ugly duckling.
It's not, she is called Abby Mallard.
It is said in the movie in full and she's addressed multiple times with Abby by her friends.
I freakin loved this movie when I was a kid lol
I agree on every level.
Holy fuck... I REALLY hate this movie... Worst Disney movie so far..
Great Childhood Memories.....
I'll be honest, I liked the movie. It was charming in it's own way, I liked the main character and felt as if it were me, in a way, (I used to be bullied and humiliated a lot, and I would always fit into those other groups, the rejects, in a way) and some of the jokes I kinda enjoyed. Sure, it's bad jokes, weird moments, and unlikeable characters, but I just loved it.
how does he not LOOOVE this film !!!!! I love it
This movie is my Garbage Pail Kids.
As a huge Disney fan, this is a complete insult to everything that they stood for. I've never had such a consistently unpleasant, uncomfortable, painful feeling watching a Disney movie before, and I haven't since.
I don't know if it was on Mr enter'a video or a removed comment on this video but someone brought up a good point:
It's the mean-spirited human that doesn't work because Chicken Little is very much so a rug mat, and something like South Park mean umor works because the kids can take it and dish it just as much as any of the adults, also helps that they're just as crass mean and nasty as the adults in South Park, so when we see bad things happen to them it's funny because we know they can shrug it off and keep going on with her day
This movie scared me sooo bad when I was young
you know what's weird? I remember watching this movie at school but we never finished watching it ever and in 2011 I watched the whole thing on a plane 3 times XD (it was the only animated thing to watch I found good on a long plane ride)
My grandma took me to see this when it came out and it scared the crap out of me because of how loud it was. It felt like I was on a roller coaster!
