The best part of this movie is that there is no Up 2. They had a perfect standalone movie, it became crazy popular, and Disney just left it alone.

I love the symbolism in this movie.
The main character brings his whole house to his dream destination because he isn't over his wife's death (it was her dream in the first place), and the house in its perfect condition represents her life. When he's forced to sacrifice furniture and things like that to get more elevation he's reached a point where he's actually willing to move on. He doesn't forget her, but he stops being obsessed with her. He makes room for the other people in his life.

oh my gosh, you really had to bring the bible into the covers at ion. lol. there are too many opinions about that and Up is so much more cut dry and obvious to everyone. the bible is something that needs to be deeply studied and researched to prove if it's true or not. you're comparing two different things together that have nothing to do with each other. the bible is a book that has been around for centuries and survived criticism and numerous attempts of officials trying to destroy it while the movie Up is just a cute story that will eventually move on and pass on the torch to the next big hit and trend.

    • @tadstrange1465

It's like a 20 or 21st century fairy tale. The concept of an old man flying his house into the sky just sounds so much like a classic children's story

  • @Balthazar2242

Up is the perfect example of a Pixar film: it's imaginative, light, and family-friendly, but never panders and has a level of sincerity that speaks to all ages. It never dumbs things down, it _goes there_ emotionally, and THAT is what makes a good family film.
It isn't just about some adventure, there are deeper themes that are serious--about loss and letting go. It doesn't pull its punches, and in my opinion that's the best thing you can do for a movie. Don't hold back when you have something to say, because that's what people need to hear.

Exactly this. As people age, age gaps gets less significant. If someone manages to live to their 90's in relatively good health, he/she doesn't look that much older than their chlidren, provided they had children in their early twenties. There was episode of House, where clinic patients were a father and son, but as father was 102 years old, House misteke his 80 years old son for his friend

Easily my favorite Pixar film as well. So lovely, touching and heartfelt. I also completely agree about what you say about 2:32. It's probably why Wolf Children is one of my favorite films ever. Sometimes you don't need one word of dialogue, just music and visuals. Afterall, film is a visual median. Make good use of that people!

    • @tmntgirl4life
      @tmntgirl4life 2 года назад

It’s the whole rule of show don’t tell. If seen both films and they are able to tell scenes without any dialogue due to how visually we know and the music brings it home. Also in these scenes we don’t need to know what they’re saying we know what there feeling. And maybe the scenes won’t be as impactful if there was dialogue

I love this movie because it tells you to not spend your life worrying about what you can't control but that life is an adventure. The good and bad moments are part of growing up, being alive and living.
You're alive to enjoy being alive, so enjoy what you have and don't focus on the bad. Yes bad things can hurt, but its what we do afterwards that matters. Being hurt shows you have a heart and shouldn't feel terrible for it, but be proud that you cared enough to feel that much :)

For me the first 10 minutes of this movie, the scene with Big Henry in Gravity Falls, The Tale of Iroh in Avatar, Zuko`s back story, etc. all have more emotional impact on people than most movies produced by Hollywood. I think that when it comes to large action movies aimed at kids or adults/adolescents a lot of producers forget the simple things that can be shown in such fine detail. When Zuko's father scorches his face, Iroh looks away while Azula looks on. When you think about it this makes the scene ever more powerful. Some shows have the ability to get more from 5-10 minutes than movies can get from 2+ hours. It's strange to think about.

Inside Out was a heavily flawed, unoriginal, unimaginative, and most importantly- because Pixar has made too many movies that met this criteria to keep fucking it up- it does not leave an impact. The plot is remeniscent of almost every previous Pixar work, the setting and plot elements have been done before, and the characters are one dimensional and predictable, which is because they had the genius idea to make every character revolve around one emotion, therefore killing any real personality. The best I can give it is a C+, with a concensus of "okay."

My thoughts on UP are basically the same as Doug’s thoughts on Lilo And Stitch, it does 1 element so spectacularly that it actually overshadows the other, in UP’s case it’s the first 10 minutes vs the rest of the movie, I thought the first 10 minutes of this movie were phenomenal, some of the most mature stuff I’ve ever seen in a Pixar movie, and I was loving it at first, and then once they get to that far away land the movie just kinda went downhill for me, it wasn’t bad by any means just not very strong, the comedy, unlike a lot of other Pixar movies, just kinda clashed with the serious moments, it wasn’t really able to smoothly transition into those moments like a lot of other Pixar movies were able to do, and the comedic stuff was way too silly and and over the top of you ask me, at a point I was like “I’m confused, is this still the same movie I started out with?” that being said the serious moments are amazing when they happen, it’s just that everything else in the movie is just...ok, nothing great, nothing awful, just...ok

This is definitely one of PIXAR's finest achievements in their long canon and their most mature film saying about someone coming to the end of their life believing they've accomplished nothing
But like Carl we the audience can realize yes we can make our own adventures and life is essentially an adventure itself
This is funny, beautifully animated, emotional, and full of adventure with memorable characters
'Up' is an extraordinary viewing experience for kids and adults showing not only is animation an art form but storytelling too

"Up" is my second favorite Pixar film of all time and I love this movie even more. Much like "WALL•E" with nicely done romantic scene, they created one of the best romantic scene for only 10 minutes straight. These spend their childhood times, their marriage, and their old times without dialogue and clever Michael Giacchino's great score. It reminds like good old days of being together for one good moment that takes years of their relationship and it works and very touchy than the "Twilight" series for like 5 years, 12 hours, and 5 movies. But the whole movie is like the greatest adventure along with the main character with colorful characters. Especially that dog designs were cute and that Dug dog reminds my pet dog which I had a blonde/ruby cockalier dog. Overall, amazing animated film until Pixar comes down in the 2010's which it was gone for these days of watching great 00's Pixar films, but two of these Pixar films did better than others.

To your tiny nitpick, paradise falls is called "a land lost in time", a sort of purgatory if you will. His dogs have also lived despite the small window dogs have to live, so there's definitely something going on there too. He's stopped aging because he stayed there.

The little love story at the beginning was amazing and very emotional. Purely brilliant!
The rest of the story is a great family story with a lot of heart and so damn funny.
Died a little bit at the part with the dog with the high ptiched voice haha.

I agree with this review so much. Up is and probably always will be my favorite Pixar movie. It just hit every note for me, strong characters with plenty of development, a fantastic balance of dark and whimsical humor, beautifully stylized animation, and the score alone was more memorable than many of Disney's other soundtracks. Each and every character is so charming while still being dynamic and believable. It made me cry like a baby but at the same time it never seemed to take itself too seriously. It was a fantastic adventure for the characters and moviegoers alike.

Me and my family went into this blind. It was great, my parents enjoyed it the most I think just because they're vets so "the cone of shame!" made them laugh hardest and how accurate Doug as a loyal loving and not the sharpest tool in the box dog was.

Three movies come to mind that have quite an emotional impact on me within the first 5-10 mins. It's a Wonderful Life, Disturbia and this movie. It's impressive they can make characters that we care for so quickly. Up is especially impressive in that they were able to convey so much emotion without having to say anything.

Up is a great movie, and I think one that has a few harsh life lessons that kids should know.
You can’t always achieve every dream you set your goals too. People do die untimely before you can do
what you said you would do with them. Your hero might actually be a villain, or at least not what you expected. And sometimes you need to let go and not live in a shadow of what life use to be like for you.

For me one the absolute best parts was the ending.
Spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it.
The fact that the dad DOESN'T come back at the end is what really sells it. That the boys dream really didn't come true yet the fact that the old man became not only a friend but almost like a substitue father to him really touched me. Agree with Doug on this one...the best Pixar movie to date.

Doug, some people look old around their 50s and we also have to remember that people live long now lol Only reason why I ever watched UP was because my school would always talk about how one of our teachers looked and acted like the grumpy old man, Mr Fredericksen.

Everyone talks about the opening, which was great, but I thought the part where he finds the adventure book with all the pictures she added along the way was the most touching part of the movie. The musical score in the scene was just the cherry on top of an unbelievably moving moment.
