1 1/2 turns in from fully open on fan, full fluid , 28-30 psi is the perfect setting I’ve been using the Iwata for years and so has my co worker we paint 800 hours a month all cleared with the supernova that’s all we use. This gun when In the right hands works just fine. I actually never get runs when using it vs any other spray gun
What people are saying about lining up the tip. Is twists the air cap so it lines up you would have to tilt the gun when spraying though. The s2 was meant to fix that so it lines up out the box
Fantastic finish there Gunny, I've never used the series 1 WS400 so can't comment on lining the split tip with the airhorn but I know on the Series 2 that you need to tighten the tip so it's in line with the airhorn it's then a simple job to set the gun up at full fan full fluid then you have a perfect setup for the gun. I could see when you had the series 1 at full fan it didn't look right but on my series 2 digital at full fan it's spot on but as I said you do need to tighten it up quite tightly to get them to line up which is something you cant do on the series 1 as you demonstrated in your video, give the series 2 another try mate👌👍John UK
Gunny. I bought the Devilbiss pro lite on your recommendation and I love it. Then I bought a WS400 for clear (painting motorcycles only) and I was blown away by how smooth it gets clear. It's been great but I am still way inexperienced so maybe I'm missing something. That's a tight room. Thanks for the videos bro.
I was able to line the tip up on my series 1. Didnt change anything. The fan looks split always, i turned the cap sideways and did a fan check. The clear ran down the paper evenly, despite the way it looked.
Yeah you can’t line up the tip on the 1 as I tried myself, they updated the thread on the series 2 so it always locks perfect every time, if you search on RUclips about the series 2 they talk about what they updated etc
Then the criticism on my post that my issue was because I didn't line it up is crap, because if it always lines up then how are people saying I didn't line it up?
Everybody is right! And everyone is on drugs!😂 I love it. Thanks for all the vids Gunny! I've turned the fluid in on my supernova, after turning the fan in. I feel that it's helped with the heaviness on top and bottom. I tend to use the ProLite for most of my finishes
The WS400 & LS400 will give nice flat finishes when it is adjusted right. I have no complaints about the Supernova guns other than the extra effort to dial-in the settings. The ProLite is a much easier gun to setup and go.
As i said on aprevious comment this gun is hard too dial in , i have had good result but it was difficult , I use my Walcoms , Devilbiss and Fujis which are much more easier to use . Just bought some Satas 5500x and hoping they work well we will see . Great job Gunny , if your a good painter you can make most guns work for you . 👍
I have a ws400 series 1 and I can get the fluid tip to sit how you are trying to get it too but I also have a 1.5 tip for 2k jobs and I can’t get it to sit how it should. I definitely think it’s an issue Iwata have known about and it’s just your luck if you have a tip that will sit how it should
If you read the manual it says to line up the split nozzle and air horns, I guess everyone never reads the manual and throws it away and complains what the heck is wrong.
Folks are right about lining up those lines, but you are right, they should line up those two lines with as much money as they spend in r&d. shorty way to just dump it on the market. It should work the first time every time, especially when you spend that much money.
Very impressive finish. All down to your skill matey. The fan pattern was better towards the end of the job, and the gun does seem to atomise the paint really well. Can you get a 'O' tip for it?
The " fluttering "? Did we actually fix that? I have borrowed same gun that does this as I'm contimplating buying one. P.s Does not effect the end result.
Hey gunny. Why aren‘t you using your updated settings from last year ? 2 1/4 turns out on fan and 20psi ? Is it because of the different clearcoat ? Just wondering. Nice video and finish though 👌🏻💪🏻
Shop im at is sata users but i have iwatas w400s and ws400 cant complain about either gun tho mind you ive seen more runs come out of a sata 5500 then my supernova from the other painter who swears by sata
Your right and wrong as some of the original ws's did line up like your trying to do but most have an angle to them to line up as the splits to the horns on the air cap and only then it will spray at full fan but that makes it spray on an angle as u angel your wrist to get the straight pattern sounds odd but it is actually very natural as your focusing on the fan rather then your hand look up an English bloke called Pete Hobbs telling it like it is as he showed it works they both spray the same set up that way mate.👍
Exactly mate but I think it was a missed thing for them originally as it’s actually a good gun on full fan but to only possibly change the threads around a bit and couple of knobs to make it a series two and now it’s well over $1300 not available in Australia highway robbery if you ask me wonder if you know why it’s not available here yet? Something else must be a problem with it is that true?
Well if you know how to spray with iwata then you know how to spray with iwata, if you don’t step back in the stone ages with sata and continue to never progress. The gun spray’s phenomenal in the right hands. Or send it to my I’ll do the gun justice !
I hope these RAW vids continue like the old days

200 paint hours a week ? That's alot how many people in the paint shop? That's good hours brother
Brother the mouth 672 hours
ive been painting 1000hrs a month for the last 50 years and I'm only 38!

I'm a Iwata fan boy but when I use this gun, I always have my heart in my mouth.

Doing it for the people gunny, getting it done with the iwata
Nice slick job. Oh yaaa

superbe travail avec du bon materiel..bravo mr Piccaso
I was able to line the tip up on my series 1. Didnt change anything. The fan looks split always, i turned the cap sideways and did a fan check. The clear ran down the paper evenly, despite the way it looked.
Looks awesome gunny would of loved to see the preparation work

Awesome work ! 💪
I still use the ws400 daily.
Man u make look so dam easy good work

I don't think they have ever improved on the old W400 bellaria. I know it's slower but it still sprays really well
The bellaria was always a great budget fun but that's where it shines, in the budget segment, it was a downgrade from the supernova and lph-400
I have a ws400 series 1 and I can get the fluid tip to sit how you are trying to get it too but I also have a 1.5 tip for 2k jobs and I can’t get it to sit how it should. I definitely think it’s an issue Iwata have known about and it’s just your luck if you have a tip that will sit how it should
You nailed it....!!!

U could possibly index the rip with a thin washer like we do on race engines spark plugs
Awesome... how close are u to the panels ...and pressure?
you could get the sata x5500 universe from spray guns direct in a digital, that gun has the 1.3 cc option
Or simply change the air swivel connector to a regular one. Just a 1/4inch quick connector coupling and you are fine for using a standard regulator.
Very impressive finish. All down to your skill matey. The fan pattern was better towards the end of the job, and the gun does seem to atomise the paint really well. Can you get a 'O' tip for it?
Probably the OBS tip. This ist the optimized basecoat settings tip. Anyone used this for clearcoat who can share his experience?
@lutra7670 I have used it. It is a very slow and very flat finish for clear.
Small fan try using a iwata AZ3 😅😂😂😂
The " fluttering "? Did we actually fix that? I have borrowed same gun that does this as I'm contimplating buying one.
P.s
Does not effect the end result.
Did turning down the pressure help with the heavy ends issue?
Hey gunny. Why aren‘t you using your updated settings from last year ? 2 1/4 turns out on fan and 20psi ? Is it because of the different clearcoat ? Just wondering.
Nice video and finish though 👌🏻💪🏻
The last set up was 1 3/4 turns out and around 27 psi if I remember right.
Shop im at is sata users but i have iwatas w400s and ws400 cant complain about either gun tho mind you ive seen more runs come out of a sata 5500 then my supernova from the other painter who swears by sata
Wgst clear you spray with The Sata jet cc ? Is it good with high solids 2:1
Bizarre, but trust the Japanese to come up with wacky stuff like that haja

👍👍👍👍
That looks like a beautiful job even with all your moaning 👍😂😂😂😂
Haha well thats news. 😅
👌👌👌👌👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Bom dia e boa tarde meu amigo do brinquedo do Brasil tá falando
Beleza 😢😅😅
