This is by far the best blues lick lesson i have watched on you tube. I will be practicing it until its drilled in to my head. Thank you very much. You're teaching style is wonderful.
This just came up in my feed. Five minutes in I liked, subscribed and saved the link to it. Just what I was looking for! Thank you sir! OBTW: Having the tab written out is HUGE to me.
Hey, Lee! New sucscriber here...great analysis about the "why" of things. I really appreciate your explanation of which notes are chord tones as opposed to those outside of the chord. I gotta work on my rakes (which you do well) because that's the secret sauce in making these licks sing. I'm going to dig into this lesson and learn them all. Awesome content, thanks!
well you got a new suscriber! The way you teach is very good and fun to learn. You definitly got something here! keep on the good work! Math From Quebec Canada
@@PlayGuitarAcademy Honestly 🤔...I have loved the blues since 68ish. I'm now digging in. Your channel is by far where the meat falls off Da Bone! What to play and when to play it. Most Importantly...TIMING! Not sounding like I'm struggling for that CALL and RESPONCE or sounding jerky! The perfect sentence! That Flow! You want it to sound always new and different. I know you understand. Thanks for asking! Much appreciated! 😎👍
Lick 2 or the BB King box is pattern 3 not pattern 2 in the minor pentatonic. Which overlaps with pattern 4 in the major pentatonic. BB king and others use that spot to mix minor and major. Pattern 2 of the minor pentatonic is the Albert King box and referred to as the house of blues.
Rather than a raised 6th the Dorian mode has a b3 and b7. Natural minor has b3, b6 and b7 and harmonic minor has b3 and b6 with natural 7th. An MA in Jazz makes me a bit of a theory nerd! 😬😉 Great licks, thanks for your excellent demonstration!
@@mbrownie22 No it isn't. You can't have a 6th and #6 in the same scale. The 6th is never reffered to as #. It's either a Major 6th or minor 6th (b6)or it's compound intervals - 13th and b13th.
Wowsers... I been playing for over fifty years, earned a bunch of dollars on stage and have no idea about what you just related about the 6th Dorian whatever. I barely know chords. I wish I could be more knowledgeable about the musicality of playing guitar only I just mostly learn cover songs and play em out.

Very helpful
some slight changes to lick three and you have an AC/DC "have a drink on me" hit
we should have had internet in the 60s ,we just learned from friends or a record or some useless books . thanks for sharing the blues.😊

Gj...we all know the "letters", but always looking for new words if that makes sense. A newer approach to make em all musical
Makes sense to me, Bob! Thanks!
DONT WRAP YOUR THUMB AROUND THE NECK!!!! You will only upset somebody!
Have you ever heard of Jimi Hendrix?
@@deanyork oh yes, however, there is a plethora of "anti-thumb" you tube vids!
Yeah but you can use the thumb to grab that bass note from time to time, I don't care how it looks, I do care how it sounds
@@kennethpierson82 Agreed - what is the point in having an opposable thumb if can't hook it over and do some musical opposing??
Great lesson thank you so much
