Great end result on this, hopefully it will make someone feel really special and grown up having it to use as their own. Colour choice as always is spot on.
Your TV stand guess is probably right. The style of it looks like it's probably 1980s or 1990s, it has that 'farmhouse' style that was pretty popular then. Wasn't unusual for tv stands to be quite low then either and it looks like the whole piece is solid pine which was pretty common. You could get a CRT tv in the big gap, a VCR in the slot beneath that (hence the big gap in the backing board for your cables) and above the drawers and the hinged piece on the top could have been to give more space for a receiver or antennae. You would put your VCRs and other bits and bobs in the drawer underneath to keep things tidy and where you'd be most likely to use them.

yep, definitely a tv stand, but it actually may go as far back as the 70s, we had one almost identical to yours back then.
