Slom was completely self taught, and would sing a song in one key,then transpose up to the next higher key,and so forth. By doing this, he was not only able to achieve a phenomenal vocal range, but he was able to completely overcome severe stuttering through the concentration required to achieve this 4 octaves vocal range.
