I had the greatest pleasure of seeing this great singer perform 4 times in Bournemouth and also his son byron !!!!! His voice was beyond compare and he was such gentleman too !!!!! I still play his vinyl records a lot and will continue as long as i am able to !!!!!! Absolutely wonderful !!!!! RIP SLIM GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!
A WW2 veteran, had a pure and beautiful voice. A true gentleman in every way. Married to the same lady, his guiding light, until she passed at 84. When asked how he would like to be remembered, he simply said: as a nice man.
Brilliant story great voice I wish country music would be heard more in the uk they seem to forget about it especially the old records which I love slim and Hank were the greatest thank you 🥰👍🎸Julie heeehaww X
Slim's name isn't O-tis it's pronounced Ah-tis spelled OTTIS He was actually born in 1923 . Slim told us that he would never sing a song that he couldn't sing in church . He lost the wedding band finger just short of 2nd knuckle while he was working in a meat packing factory . Slim & his family were great friends of my family for years . A lot of nice info on him was left out of this video story. He was a good man. His life was a beautiful life an not a sad or tragic ending either . He was married to Jerry his wife for 67yrs Their home was called " #WoodpeckerParadise It was so gorgeous and his family are such sweet people .
@@tiredlawdogl am so very happy to hear that Slim , had a great life as his voice was ABSOLUTELY brilliant and his beautiful unique style voice and entertaining, also a great yodler. Loved him. ELIZABETH SCOTLAND ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Loved all his music my hubby also a great fan -the song rose Marie was our song from when we met in 1961-at 13 and 14 -hubby passed away last year Aug 2020 -that song has helped me so much -thank u for your music -god bless and keep u
Since i left school in 1971 i herd slims voice for the very first time then i was hooked slims voice captured me like a magnet. Ive never herd such clarity in any song until that time then i was hooked with slim whitman fever i saw him on stage 4 times during the 1970s and i was just amazed by his voice. And his stature i went back stage to meet him . Wow . R.i.p. dear slim .and thank you for so many great years of beautiful music.
I've always liked Slim Whitman's beautiful high tenor voice. First song I remember was his "Indian Love Call" in 1952. I especially like, "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen" The "sad ending" was added for click-bait.
Slim Whitman had a great career and life. He had one of the greatest voices of all time. What a disgraceful comment to say that he had a sad ending, quite the opposite he had a long and happy life being married to the same woman for 67 years and having a stellar career
Not sure my self, slim is for me anyway is the ultimate voice, his voice has touched me since 1773 then saw him in think it was late 70s, then again in early 80 s, in our uk, what what a beautiful man he was,in his glittering attire, but I loved the man , so handsome gorgeous a hunk of a man, wasn’t disappointed xxx 6:48 6:48 6:48 6:48 6:48
I grew up on Slim in the early 50s - I had older brothers - and still play him often. I was so blessed when he came out to Australia in the 70s, to go and see him and meet him later backstage. Such an important part of my growing up.
Slim Whitman was my late wife`s favourite sing after she passed away I found a old programme of when he performed in teh Capital cinema in Cardiff My wife was 18 yrs old then.
I just remember the infomercials selling GREATEST HITS 1980s . Then Mars Attacks Now with technology you can get an idea how GOOD HE WAS ! New music too me I’m a metal head from the 80s BUT I KNOW MAD SKILLS 3 Octave DAMN 👂👂
This video is Offensive to The Memory of Slim Whitman, for one thing you have his date of Birth wrong, he was Born on 20th January 1923 and passed away on June 19th 2013. He lost part of his middle finger on his left hand in an accident.
Slim Whitman was the Best Country Music Singer and Yodeler Ever and it"s an Absolute Disgrace that Slim is not in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Todays Country Music is Rubbish !!!.

I didn't know Slim or his family, but I can not imagine them being other than what you have said. He was an uncommonly moral man.

Sounds like anything but a sad ending. I should be so lucky. RIP Slim, God speed.
Loved his singing, not sure why they added pic of young Elvis to this video?
Elvis was given his first debut opening for Slim in 1954... they had his name as Ellis Presley.

Robovoice reading Wikipedia to us aside, what makes his ending sad? Nothing.
This has been a disgraceful rundown of Slim's life by someone who never really knew him or took time to collate factual informantion.
Still can't be beaten.
Very handsome
I won't say how long I thought he WAS from UK; didn't know he was from America for A VERY VERY long time.
The bot voice on this is a disgrace to his memory, I shut it down real quick and moved on
