I do all my own shit too, nut slot filing (only tweak it if the string is too high and that 1st fret note is too high), I do my own pickup changes, and of course intonation tweaking always, gotta have all the notes sounding right, especially that major 3rd at the 11th fret with the open E, and A, and D, those are my most important personally. Rock on
The hand measuring was brilliant!! How many times I sit here wondering how Buk pulls one of these "adult" chords out and now it's as clear as day... The man is a sasquatch!! 😜
Excellent video of two cats hanging out repairing and rambling on about setups, guitars and people…in the garage…love it…felt like that fly on the wall.
Jimmy was is and always will be a session man first, that dude was making skiffle music sound cool as a kid in school. Producer Electric / Accustic Bass, extraordinary gifted individual. That guy has an incredible ear! Tom said it those guys were doing incredible music in there 20s. Great video gentlemen Cheers Doug 😎
“Not putting a Kayler on a Les Paul “ LOL I hear you about putting a good set up on a good guitar. I fixed a whacked out DGT standard today that somebody hosed up, better than I thought it would play. Made my bad day good again.
I had a Savvy put on a custom shop Les Paul jr a few weeks ago. It truly is everything these guys say it is. For me it made an already great guitar about ten times greater.
I was in Drum and Strum and got to play the Gibson ES=335 I heard you purchased ..........Just wondered what you think of it and was it worth the price???
Wow! Years ago, I had the chance to buy a '59 Junior for cheap. You know, I wanted to love it, but it just didn't resonate in my hands or anything. So, I passed on it. Now I wish I owned it! HA! I think this bridge would help that guitar come to life. Ford, do you still use any of those Evertune guitars?
Larry, I have the exact guitar, mid 60's, that I refinished in white also, that I put a Leo Quan badass tunamatic bridge on to correct the problem. Am I going to gain anything to use the 'music city bridge' instead?
Setting up and repairing other people's shitty cheap guitars and making them playable is literally the reason I started playing guitar 30+years ago. I was fixing guitars way before I even started playing. Then I got broke guitarists to give me lessons instead of money for repairs.
Just subscribed to your channel Ford, but I've been a fan for awhile. I think Pete is actually around 6 feet. He just looks 1 foot taller than Daltrey who us 5'6", haha. Cheers
The wierd thing about all the modeller amp criticism is that nobody's gonna criticize the sound of these newly setup Les Paul student level guitars as sounding like a picture & not the real deal (they both sound GREAT unplugged, recorded on a smartphone and uploaded to RUclips). And I never hear anyone complain say Miles Davis' Kind of Blue recording sounds unrealistic & starved despite being many decades old now. But it's all the social media rage today to complain SRV's guitar & multiple amps dimed out and shaking walls was still so emaciated sounding that studios had to put wet effects on it in post production to make it tolerable for the listener. What is our deal? Is electric guitar really in so much need of help when speaking? I don't think so, personally. I think it's just that electric guitar will forever be a sandbox instrument for creativity & imagination that will continue to piss off traditionalists even in spite of honoring them -- an authentic rebel instrument for Western culture.
Me and Tommy are damn near the same age I cannot call him Uncle Larry in all good faith without feeling like a weirdo.. and BTW I would have known that was a refin just by a text message picture also because of that color is a bit off
wanna know what really separated EVH, SRV, RAP, and all those other rockers who made it? its not what you've been programmed to think it is "who's better EVH or SRV?" better at what and define better? the difference between these guys and the others is they didn't sit around focusing others peoples music or licks and riffs wondering who was better or trying to justify that their hero is better than someone else, the music they listened to that was someone else's they didn't obsess on it, at least not after they developed their chops, they obsessed on their own playing, their own style, music, everything.. they focused on their own music all day long obsessing on their own lives and music.. I see so many good to great guitar players on youtube but not one original song, very few original licks or riffs, write em, there is no GOOD OR BAD! that shit you learned from greedsters and narcissists.. every time you say to yourself this guy is a hero or a phenom whatever over and over you are simply telling yourself you're not good enough..
Is it just me or does Tom seem a little annoyed with Ford at times? Kinda like just take a step back and let me do my thing or ask the damn questions and get it over with. 😂
[Yeah, it does seem like Ford is trying a little too hard; probably not even aware he's doing it. It's a skill called READING THE ROOM and Ford apparently doesn't possess it. Uncle Larry is so cool that he smoothes it over.]
Wow, he really likes the sound of his own voice. Uncle Larry tries to start or tell a story…Nope let me interject for no apparent reason with nothing extra to add.
You know what they say!?!? Big hands, Big feet. 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.
I keep replaying the Ship Of Fools part.. man that was magical.
A Glimpse of the Buk, a Day in the life 😮 lol
I believe the nibs are actually part of the binding not painted on.
On the bench and fixing it...great vid, for sure
Tom’s knowledge of stuff is hard to comprehend. Baffling
I agree

Great video, I wouldn’t hesitate buying this. 👍
Is it me or does it seem likes ford’s favourite food is a brownie. Cool bridge tho. Love ur vids guys!
Toms sick!! love this guy
Great video guys! I set up all my guitars so this is so much fun to watch!
This is the thing. You two need to make more appearances together. You guys are great on your own. But also fun together. Long live uncle Larry.
Two straight badass players right here.
This video fucking rules. Thanks for this love you guys!!

Love the funkiness of Ford’s playing! ❤ That other guy is pretty good too! Anyone know him? 😂
Thank you
Uncle Larry is loved and the coolest cat to ever leave Cleveland!!! but make sure he doesn't do that fancy lock shit with your strings🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Phil played a game show host on Vice.

Amazing
Hey thanks Mr. T, I could watch this sort of thing all day!!!✌️
Long time no see your videos Ford! And What a guest this time!
Have a nice day
I think we need to convince Uncle Larry to get this album into the digital age or at least sell CDs somewhere. Maybe it’s me but I can’t find it
Hope that's what you're looking for :)
What a pair! Bought this bridge aswell, awesome, like having a new guitar.
Uncle Larry! Does it all!
Wow one of the best versions of Ship of Fools
Robbie Blunt .... killer
Wow what a great video.
Cool episode guys ✌🏼✌🏼
Always interesting, never boring. Much respect...
Good profile shots of you with the non-Gildan shirt.
Subscribed because of Uncle Larry
Epic vid fellas...✨️🌠
It was a blast
Two greats just chatting! Two of my biggest guitar heroes. Thanks for letting us be flies on the wall! 🙌🏻
Fun times! Thanks for watching bro !
Thanks for the informative and fun hang with Buko, Ford!
I’d pay for that performance at the end plugged in!
13:30 Does Ray Davies get a look-in on the "great songwriters in rock history" debate?
Loved hanging out! Thanks for posting this.
I'm ordering one for my 2019 les paul jr can't wait to get that guitar on stage or some recordings.
Love this!!
Dude, I wish I could Uncle Larry to come over and do a setup on my SG. Let's hear you guys play some music. Cheers!
That entire bench was resonating! Where can I get me one of those bridges for my Jr?
call Glaser Instrument Repair in nashville...ask for Josh....they got the hookup
@@501chorusecho Thanks, brother!
5 Start! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Jake E Lee played a SG just like that one on the Shot in the Dark video with Ozzy! Very cool.
Ship of Fools was Doug Boyle? Very underrated player.
very cool
I subbed. Thx for the video
For and Tom , not so bad 🎸😜
Go listen to Hear About it Later, if you think Eddie wasn’t a great songwriter. Fun vid. Keep it up boys..👍
I was in Drum and Strum and got to play the Gibson ES=335 I heard you purchased ..........Just wondered what you think of it and was it worth the price???
Loved
Did uncle Larry lock the strings when he put them on?
thats funny
SG Jr. one of the ultimates. I have Savvy waiting for mine, just need to get it on there
What do you think of locking studs?
You can tell that those guitars are very resonant and acoustically very loud. I’d love to know how high or low the action is set.
Wow! Years ago, I had the chance to buy a '59 Junior for cheap. You know, I wanted to love it, but it just didn't resonate in my hands or anything. So, I passed on it. Now I wish I owned it! HA! Gibson stopped using Brazilian Rosewood in 1969 on their regular production guitars, but special runs were made after that.
Most important detail left out? Tom's Sagittarius, what's Ford?
Hey Tom.. is it the rule..? The third time you adjust the bridge height you don’t need the rag..?😂
So cool !!! What’s the name of the song tom played at the end with the cool intro ?
Ship of Fools
Robert Plant
Bring back "tool shreds"
Thanks for the peek into ya'lls hang. Very cool. 2 very bad men.

Sagi-Larry-us
👍
Thank you Ford.
Have to put Angus and Malcolm up at the top if you wanna rock n roll :)
Just subscribed to your channel Ford, but I've been a fan for awhile. I think Pete is actually around 6 feet. He just looks 1 foot taller than Daltrey who us 5'6", haha. Cheers
Great video. But yeah a 6 foot 6 musician? That’s a rarity. I can’t think of any that tall. They would look real awkward on stage.
@@tommythevenot7617 Tom Sholz is about that tall.
About the only one I can think of is Ray Benson from Asleep at the Wheel. He’s a mountain of man.
Pete is 1.82m (just under 6ft)
Apparently Pete Townshend was 6 feet tall. All the sources say that. Lol
We all know online answers are correct, haha
Pete only looks 6’6” because Roger is 5’6” lol

They want people to sell there old Amps, hEy n0w
just bought 5 of them aliexpress 200$ each
Wow home schooled again
I have a 59 Les Paul Jimmy Page retro music city have a bridge for it? Everything is Jon the money except the bridge is crap.
ya nibs are when the binding is over the fret
Yup
are you really an uncle?
Pete Townshend is 6’
Pete just looks taller than he is because Roger is so short. Ha!
@@userer4579 ha! Totally. Pete just looks tall because he has an elongated face and he has mostly been really thin
Plays and sounds almost like a PRS now!
Brazilian rosewood was made illegal to import into the US in 1992.
