Hulk’s decision to turn heel and be the 3rd man for the nWo was absolutely the right course of action. He was once again one of the hottest stars in wrestling and it kicked off a boom period not just for WCW, but for professional wrestling in general because NOTHING gets Vince McMahon into high gear quite like beating him at his own game.

The only other decision that would have worked, is if HBK or Bret hart left wwf and joined the outsiders. The choice to fall back on Sting would have failed. He was too over as a wcw guy and a baby face.

You really have to admire the sheer balls of hogan to ask for all those bonuses in his contracts. I just can't fathom the kind of money he made in the 4 or 5 years he was in wcw. The money wcw must have been making in order to pay him and everyone else massive money and still turn an enormous profit must have been out of this world. Then they go ahead and start throwing money at basketball players and nfl players. When you dig into it even a little it's on a whole other level than any of us realise.

He clung on to the comic style of the 80s and early 90s for a long time before he smartened up and realized that people wanted to watch a product geared towards a more "mature" audience. Bischoff was doing the heel authority figure long before McMahon decided to take that role for himself (and did it better, even though Bischoff was a great smarmy heel).

Before that if you were in your late teens early 20s and said you were a fan you would be laughed at. Then Hulk turns the NWO becomes huge WCW goes on a run that no other wrestling promotion has even come close to since the WWF expansion in 1984. Hulk ushered in 2 of the most profitable times in pro wrestling history. Then came back to WWE and had another classic WrestleMania match with The Rock

I am convinced, that it would have ended up like the Nexus.
