I was making my stretcher in the ER after a call. A patients family member came out of their room and said "Boy it sure is quiet in here tonight." Police, EMS, nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists... We all united in pure hatred at this woman... then the tones dropped for a GSW, a Ped arrest, and MVC where a person t-boned a cop right in front of the hospital. Best part? It was 5 in the morning and I had two hours left of shift.
I was a unit clerk in a very busy hospital for 30 years, the last 18 in the ICU. More than once, visitors would make comments about how quiet the night shift was---I preferred that shift, personally---but the worst one was the night one elderly woman loudly said, "It's far too quiet in here, something needs to happen to keep you all awake!" as our very sick patients tried to sleep. We got her out of there quickly, and within 10 minutes of her loud mouth being ousted, the night went to Hades in a handbasket!
She is messing with powers she doesn't understand. Seriously, we need to do something to make "q" go away or calm down.
Anyone at any job really.
New teenager at McDonald's: "It's been really quiet today."
Me: "I will fucking murder you."
Boss: "Murder him after your shift."
We got six buses in the next 30 minutes

When I worked in security, "Q" was one of those words we dreaded and we had an area supervisor who'd utter it on the regular.
He was also the guy who complained that I sat on my behind all day. I was only licensed to operate cctv, of course I sat down all day! Moron!
I’m in the same security industry. Never say the Q word or shit will hit the fan.

I work hospital security. The Q word is a superstition that I grew into very quickly, because it's always followed by us getting called to fight some crackheads back to back, or at the same time
I guess Murphy is the jerk that won't let us eat our food when we heat it up the first or second time. He is really trying to make us watch our weight

Older hospice nurse here.These videos take me back to my Emergency Department and flight nursing days. Even in those dark ages of the distant past, we primitives knew from 1st day's orientation the consequences of uttering the "Q" or blowing off the power of the "M." Thanks for the memories!

My kids are nearly five years apart, but I used to dub them “the spawn of Katrina.” Fortunately, the older one is now in college…still waiting for the younger one (who’s now in high school) to outgrow it too, and she’s on the ADHD spectrum. URGH!

I've posted before on the consequences of "M" & "Q" being invoked during my time as an F-15E pilot. Since that post, a drunk t-boned my car and I've undergone two surgeries on my left leg. Seriously, won't these two just leave me alone?? 😞

Hey man, just wanted to say I love these vids. My Dad passed last month; he was involved in both the local Volunteer Fire Department, and the BC Ambulance Service during his career, and related all too well to these videos.
Future video topic, if you haven't done it yet - chimney fires. My dad was more the think about the consequences and requirements of the situation type vs the panic and throw the whole truck at it type - he told me that more than once the level-headed guys would show up at a chimney fire, walk in, and send a couple squirts into the appliance and kill the fire whereas the young guys would show up, deploy the main hose and unload the pumper reserve tank down the chimney!

Before I went back to vaping I accidentally set a small fire in the ash container. But I had walked away before I noticed.
My coworkers did tho
They came running up to me telling me smoke was pouring out of it.
So I walked around the corner...
They took the top of the container off that's basically a stack.
I was like well they did half the fucking work and walked off.
I just strode over and put my hand on top of the hole.
Waited a minute.
No more fire.😶

@@madtabby66 he'd mostly retired by 2008 or 2009 as he physically couldn't do the job anymore. The crew at his station was great, I knew most of them too.

As for chimney fires: This is indeed interesting - as far as I am aware, in my country (Germany), the one thing you should never do, ever, is dump any water on a burning chimney. Not only will this produce a ton of water vapor in no time, you can even cause a sort of steam explosion what will blow apart the chimney - in which case you are not dealing with a reasonably well contained chimney fire anymore but an all out structural fire caused by burning stuff shooting out of a ruptured chimney wall. Also, one of the objectives is to minimize (water) damage if at all possible. And dumping 1000 gallons down a chimney seems kind of counterproductive to that. Sure, it might put the fire out, but you might also wreck the house and leave the family homeless. Most of the time, someone will get on the roof and drop some tool in there not unlike what chimney sweeps use. This then knocks the burning soot loose so it can be scratched out at the bottom and somewhat safely taken outside or dealt with right then and there. I do realize though that houses and building codes probably differ between our countries so things might be different on your side of the pond.
I had a coal fired heating oven in my room as a kid and I was told this when I was about 9 or 10 and deemed old enough to fire it up myself. Also, our neighbor was a firefighter and taught my brothers and me some useful things like that. But that was the 80s...some things were simpler then.

It's absolutely forbidden to use either the "Q" word of the "P" word where I work. All students and newbies are warned before they ever pull a shift with us. Should they "forget" any restocking and clean up will be done by them with the duty chief watching over to make sure nothing is missed. I've had my share of "Q" and "P" words said by folks who think its a joke. Then they see the fall out. That for the most part cures either word.
We had a probie at our volunteer firehouse utter the Q word one night last year, and this knucklehead was a member of “Generation 2.0” at the firehouse so they REALLY should’ve known better! Sure enough, early the next morning we get hit with three calls in one hour! I was on two of them, and when I saw that probie getting off the unit that responded to the third call, the first words out of my mouth were “See what you started?!” Our young hero immediately tried to wiggle out of it by saying that since the Q word was uttered the night before, it didn’t count! Yeah. Right. Any volunteer firefighter knows that ANYTHING happening within the 24-hour period following the usage of the Q word still counts, and I said so. Needless to say, this person caught on quick!
And I had another time years ago when I was chatting with the manager of the local grocery store and he said the Q word, which I immediately called him out on. His response was “What’s the worst that can happen?” Well, three hours later we got hit with five calls in two hours. The next time I ran into him I told him what had happened and promptly blamed him because he’d said the Q word. Consider him schooled-he never said that word to us again!
What's the P word? Isn't it the Q and the M word?

We’re an ARFF department so we deal with aircraft mostly. The first video when Q is introduced and the explosion happened…oh that one hit home lol.
So when we get a new guy that’s transferred from a municipal department we like to mess with them and bring the Murphy Boys in for a visit here and there. Awesome job and thanks for your work!

Love these videos my mom was an RN for many years and worked triage in conjunction with EMT in the ER , I helped her study thru collage and am able to understand the trials of these professions keep up the good work she has since passed and helps me reconnect and remember the times we shared.😂

Took my brother to the ER for chest pain and difficulty breathing. Sat there waiting for over 3 hours despite very polite requests for him to be reassessed due to further difficulty breathing and losing all color in his face. Finally got him back to a room, and they discovered it was a pulmonary embolism...3 blood clots, to be precise. Immediately started him on intravenous blood thinner and admitted him to hospital. As I walked out past that same ER triage person who refused to reassess him, I said, "at least it's a quiet night, eh?" She and every other worker looked at me with utter hate in their eyes, so I told them to enjoy the shift they deserved.
This is among my favorite vids out there! Definitely one of my favorite channels..thanks for the smiles!!!
First off, I want to thank you guys for doing what you do. With everything that's going on in the world now days, communities losing their protectors (law enforcement) because of just plain stupidity and the lack of help that should be provided, I believe that they have lost sight of the necessity of what your brothers and sisters bring to the table. The fact that you guys wake up everyday and give two shits about saving and helping the " strays" in the community just shows that we need more like you. Anyhow, I look forward to watching your content everyday. It brings light to your world when I now how dark it can be at times and that's why you guys are elite. Some of the stuff you guys see and deal with would make anyone else cringe and that's probably why they don't have the guts or balls to step up but think they are well within " clear reasoning" to do away with law enforcement and fire departments to save money or whatever other idiotic reason. Stay classy and I've got your 6, no worries.

If anyone, ever, said, "it's really quiet today" at my last job, we all groaned because we knew 50 patients would come in at that exact moment. Without fail, every time.

Sometimes I think I will change my name to Murphy. This is one of those times. Coming off getting hit by a car in the cross walk I do not jaywalk.) my senior cats face became enormously swollen. I should have been a vet! My disposable income went by by. Cash will come even today then again tomorrow and when I get that my sister is sending. Still, my not at all skinny or slinky or fat but big cat is dogging me. He's eaten my chicken and my pork. He refused eggs. In fairness, he cannot read that eggs are great for cats and does not know that pasture raised eggs from happy chickens ain't cheap. Murphy, yeah. I love these videos.
