It's July 1st, my last day of work, I'm retiring at age 64. 🎉 I plan on staying in Waikiki (that is where I live) for the summer but I am thinking I will go on "vacation" in September. Can't wait!!! 😀

@@EMSpdx I don't have a car and Waikiki is just so walkable that I seriously doubt I would move. But if I did it would most likely be some where in Europe that is also walkable 😀
I absolutely love my city in summer. So empty, peaceful and quiet. Since Ljubljana is a capital (of Slovenia) and a touristy spot, it never feels deserted anyway.
This came at the perfect time! Deeply stressed from the first half of the year and, while my job is only getting busier, I’ve been wanting to come up with ideas to properly refresh and relax during my off time.
I live in Portland, OR and despite our problems, summer is AMAZING here. There are so many activities- fun to be had in our deeply green parks, low cost swimming pools (and a new swim dock!) long golden nights, roof top bars, abundant fruit trees and amazing farmer's markets, outdoor movie nights, bicycling all over, celebrating with family and making friends... and of course, hanging out in my sweet wee garden! I love it here in summer and would only travel to the coast if it is too hot! (The Oregon coast is something very special, too!)
I always preferred staying in the city for the Summer. I just can't bare traveling in the heat. Besides, as you say, the cities tend to empty out for the Summer. So while the whole world is going to the sea I aways stay put. Well, at least I used to... until my home city of Prague became trendy and the whole world is coming here now :-( Imagine Summer heat in the narrow streets of the city filled with crowds and crowds of tourists. Not so fun anymore.
having a slow summer is my go-to this year! morning on my pjs, iced coffee on the balcony and a good book when i actually have the time to read (while taking care of my 3 month old 😅)
My summer is actually going to be so wet, because we are finally having a good good rainy season, it still is mostly warm though so I think I'll mix some activities for indoors and outdoors. The city is actually more liveable like this (may was hell with the heat). I'm also travelling a lot for work, and vacation so there will also be beaches, and cities. My favorite summer plan is a picnic right at the end of summer with all my friends, good wine and delicious food.

Beautiful, artfully presented, the food looks so pretty!! Your food looks much more completed than what I eat. I eat steak day in, day out. That’s it! It gives my body everything I need!

I Will be visiting northern Sweden actually! Norrbotten. I'm actually from that area but Finnish side and we've moved further away, so now our plan is to do a little loop around, partly In Sweden, partly In Finland. And we are taking tips, we have a hotel In Luleå and plan to go North from there. 😊

My summer plans are nowhere near as glamorous, but it looks like I'll have to do my own life refresh whether I want to or not🙃 I lost my job this spring and also need to find a new place to live, The prospect of moving is definitely stressing me out after 5 years spent living in one place. I like your idea of being comfortable and free in your outfits and not settling for less! I've been going through my clothes in preparation for the move and I'm finding it frustratingly hard to let go of things, even if I'm not too happy with how they look and feel on me. To top it off, I've been having painful digestive issues these past few months, which seem to be triggered mainly by beans/legumes - bad news, since they're a staple in my diet and my main source of plant based protein. Guess it's time to start tweaking my diet to find a way to feel good and eat in a healthy way while still staying plant based. 🥦

Staying in the city (Helsinki), cycling by the sea at 10.30pm as the sun is setting. Perfect. My happy place.
