8:17 the best move here for black is actually Qe7, although Qc5 is still good. Qe7 forces a draw as white must play c3, d3 or h3. The simplest draw is after c3: Bg4 Qa4+ Nd7 Kxf2 Qh4+ Kf1 Bh5 cxd4 Qf4+ Ke1 Qe4+ Kf1 and a repetition after Qf4+. On the lichess database, no one has played 14. Been studying this counter-attack as a 1100 player, because I've seen the fried liver a few times and it's been annoying to deal with while developing how I want to, and after learning it, I finally got someone to fall for it and it felt ooooh so good. @@ilehe6887 but how that is a good tool then? he said that is basically check mate.. this mean that allowing your bishop to come out makes some how really hard for the opponent king to escape? but not sure how.
If Bxd5 on move 9 then: 9... Qf4+ 10.Kd3 (forced) Qd4+ 11.Ke2 (forced) Then you can take their bishop on d5 and there's a really deadly trap if they take your rook with their knight. You play Bg4+ and win their qeen in a skewer. If your opponent plays anything else you simply take the knight. So although I couldn't seem to find a mate either you still end up winning pretty big.
If 9. Bxd5 then 10. Qf4+ Kd3 11. Bd5+ Kc3, 12. Qd4+ Kb3 13. Qb4# You get checkmated. Other moves can help prolong white's suffering after playing Kd3 but this is already an unplayable position for white after losing their bishop. Ke3 and Kxd5 both lose the game by Qd4+ and Be6+ respectively.
Just being honest, teaching is one of the best ways to learn. If anyone thinks this guy isn't prepping for whatever hurdles he has to jump for gm title they're fooling themselves.

Levy's videos are so engaging 18 minutes feels like 3 minutes.
7:20 an ad just poped out at this exact moment saving the King.
9:42 finally, someone explains this variation.
I was taking a look at this earlier this morning and memorized key moves Bc5, Qh4, etc. 5 mins ago I finally had an opponent play the fried liver against me and I checkmated him in 20 moves in a bullet game. Feels so good! Thanks a ton Levy! 💪
Love you videos this one should have a second title “How to eat fried liver”
is there not a movie called how to eat fried worms?
I love this particular video of levy,
I lost so many time against fried liver but no I f them up and its feels great... Thank you levy really
Me: pretends to drown in a pool
My parents: 7:15
Good
so glad i found this comment
"...Black's material deficit is almost too great to be measured, but the force of his attack is enough to chill one's blood". Fundamental Chess Openings.
Pretty much summarises many Traxler variations.
Been studying this counter-attack as a 1100 player, because I've seen the fried liver a few times and it's been annoying to deal with while developing how I want to, and after learning it, I finally got someone to fall for it and it felt ooooh so good. The moment he realized his queen was completely trapped and those 2 full minutes in Blitz where I just get to sit back and sip my drink as I watch his mental state crumble silently... I would say this video should have more views and likes, but I don't want this 1100s to catch on so I can get a nice free win every once in a while.
I crawled my way up 1000 literally 5 minutes ago.
200 of those points are directly attributed to this video and to the early queen video.
Congrats
WOW!!! :D
I'm not extremely good in chess but this was THE MOST EXCITING video about chess I've seen in a long time! I was laughing out of joy:) This guy really makes chess feel like a real battle on a battlefield
“ … doesn’t go for the Fried Liver ( or colle ) and instead goes like THIS !” [ 4. Nc3 Bc5 ] 16:11 then d6 > h6 waiting for opponent to castle 0-0 so black can 0-0-0. Plan { h6 > g5 > bg4 > Qd7 > 0-0-0 -> Nd4 > Rg8 launching kingside attack ! Thanks a lot for the extra content , it helped a lot ! I’m personally calling this attack “ The Batman Attack “ or “ The Batusi “ since it was recommended by Gotham Chess ! I’ll let you know if I applied it effectively … thx again ✌️ or better yet ✌️🦇✌️
My grandpa played the fried liver against me and he was really shocked at the traxler
I love how levy named a segment the juicy traxler lol
Kf3 1:51
Kf1 2:09
Kg1 2:51
Ke3 3:40
Ke3-e2 4:00
Ke3 d3 4:12
Ke3 Qf3 4:48

Kf1 6:06
Kf1 7:51
Taking with the bishop instead of knight (all the way back on move 5) 9:48
Playing d4 on move 5 14:03
I played 1...e5 as black for the first time in a long time at my club last night and my opponent played the Fried Liver. I didn't handle it great, but the game ended in a draw. I'll definitely be studying the Traxler, thanks!
I just want to say thank you for all the content you put out. I won my school's chess tournament largely because of your videos.
First game after watching this someone fried livered me, usually I'd be terrified but crushed it with the traxler!
literally the most entertaining educational chess video ive seen, awesome job!
i just studied this for an hour, then joined my next game and got to actually play it to mate.
Worked perfectly, thanks Gotham.
No one in the chess community does even close to what Levi does for us.
Man really deserves more subscribers.
Me, just learning how to do the fried liver variation with levy's last video:
levy:
who is gonna save your king? let me tell you nobody! 7:16 - 7:21
the bishop from top chess 23km away named nobody
“Who’s saving this king? I’ll tell you, nobod- * Upbeat McDonald’s ad starts playing*
I just pulled it off, the dude resigned lmao
I absolutely love using this defense. Thank you so much for your videos, I'm still a noob at chess but thanks to your teachings, I have won many matches and am improving every day.
6:42 @Levy Why can "the bishop still not be captured"? What did I miss?
I have the same question!
I played the Traxler for the first time today against a 1350 and won in 14 moves. Thanks Gotham!
U should start making longer, like 1 hour videos. Don't bother keeping them short, ur content is great!
Not many people would want to watch that though
@@GardenChess i know i wouldn't be able to watch an hour long video, because my attention span sucks so bad the dog hair vacuums are impressed.
Levy says that he's shocked by the watchtime but I always watch his videos to the end lol
"Fried livering noob" lol. I love watching your chess videos! It's very helpful with all the tips/tricks you show :D much love from sweden!
You know levy I came to watch your traxler video 5th time now.....like....people fall for this trap so much and many don't...sometimes I get checkmated...And when I do I always come to watch back this video ....and you know what I am still learning from it....There is so much to chess...Love Your Videos ❤❤
Lol at some point Gotham just starts saying "Here, here, here" moving pieces really fast XD
Literally drew my friend out to Fried Liver and end of match he's like, ummmm what the hell was that!!!
I watched this video long ago, but now that I play the Jobava london with white I just love how the Traxler can transpose into a Jobava with black. I'm definitely using this now
2:04 how it's a mate bishop takes pawn
That’s a good point but I guess with developing you could maybe checkmate the king cause he’s in the centre of board idk
@@ilehe6887 but how that is a good tool then? he said that is basically check mate.. this mean that allowing your bishop to come out makes some how really hard for the opponent king to escape? but not sure how.
Yes, I also could not find if King does not take pawn but moves back or pawn is taken by bishop...
If Bxd5 on move 9 then:
9... Qf4+
10.Kd3 (forced) Qd4+
11.Ke2 (forced)
Then you can take their bishop on d5 and there's a really deadly trap if they take your rook with their knight.
Qb4#
You get checkmated.
Other moves can help prolong white's suffering after playing Kd3 but this is already an unplayable position for white after losing their bishop. Ke3 and Kxd5 both lose the game by Qd4+ and Be6+ respectively.
He's embracing the gambit like he's in its parents teacher meeting
I love the way he names the opponents all the time 😅
9:10 Now we take a breathe 😂😂😂
1:58 why not just take pawn by bxd5 ??
Just being honest, teaching is one of the best ways to learn. If anyone thinks this guy isn't prepping for whatever hurdles he has to jump for gm title they're fooling themselves.
I just played a game where instead of a pawn or queen move, my opponent played Nxh8. The game looked like 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 Bc5 5.Nxf7 Bxf2+ 6.Kxf2 Nxe4+ 7.Ke3 Qh4 8.Nxh8 Qf4+ 9.Nd3 Nb4+ 10.Ke2 Qf2#
I ended the game with 100% accuracy and my opponent 75.6% Thanks Gotham!
I can’t wait for the “WIN IN 4 MOVES”

Thanks Levy! I am now same rating as Magnus but in negative.
I'm so tired of people using the fried liver all the time when I play, I needed this video!!
Levy: Attack the poor King without cover
Me: More like attack the king without mercy haha
Who else is rewatching this after blundering the traxler and forgetting the order?
Pls someone explain me how is 2:04 a checkmate? Cant king just take Kxd5?
This move is not checkmate. He means checkmate is coming in next few moves and it can’t be stopped.
@@jordanb8377 I just can't see the moves leading to it.. 🤔
Yes someone explain please, even bisho can take...
I've been paused on it for 5 minutes trying to figure out how do can lead to anything good
Same boat here. When Bxd5 then king can escape back to safety without checkmate (unless I really just can't find it)
