@@Mediocre_Gaming1917Yeah this is me. I feel like i start doing a lot better in the mid to late game when the board starts to get simplified and I’ve figured out the flow of the game and what my current attack plan is. The opening is always a clusterf- for me because I can’t memorize an opening past like
2-3 moves, and with so many pieces on the board and everything all tangled up, it’s easy to miss something.

For anyone who happens to read this, Levi's courses are well worth the money. I started playing chess at 42 never having played before. I watched some youtube videos and tried the fried liver, and london, but I couldn't even remember like move 2. After playing for about 2 months I was struggling to maintain 400 to 500 ELO. I purchased Levi's 1e4 and Caro course as a package. I studied a bit and would play remembering the first 3 to 4 moves, and then go rewatch the videos play, rewatch and keep trying to remember the moves under move 10 and keep adding on. Eventually I got the London Course, and realized I'm a better positional player then tactical, and d4 is just more solid and positional most the time. Anyway after about 6 months I was able to reach 1000 elo, and it's cause I took the time to buy and study openings. I have almost every one of Levi's courses, and some from other people, and Levi's courses are the best IMO, easy to digest, practical moves meaning you get what is in your course work a lot, and it just shot up my ELO, and understanding so much quicker then just playing on my own.

Crossing 1000 elo was the bane of my existence. I barely crossed it, lost about 10 games in a row, went back to around 950, very slowly got back to 1000 after about a month just for the whole thing to happen again. This repeated for 5 times. I am now 1350 blitz and 1400 rapid but i still remember the struggle and elo anxiety vividly.

Very Very often players will move the queen to G3 to target the pawn in front of your castled king to tray and set up some mate in the future. They miss the fact that your knight can check on E2 winning the queen. I win a ton of games in the advanced caro with that check. It happens all the time.

It also covers the pawn at c2, where your knight might eventually go and fork king and rook. Seems to me that it did not make sense to you only because you purposefully ignored knight takes d4 at that point.

Blitz pool is really stronger than rapid. Also you get some underrated players more often in blitz. Dude wants to play excellent in your game and plays terrible the rest or maybe rages easily when loses. Its the same in Lichess as well.

When a 1800 wins a game they usually play as a 2000+, but when they lose they play as a 1500-1800 (usually) there are exeptions of course, so your elo makes more sense when you lose than when you win

Depends on the type of game, some games are complicated and you both get like 1000 rating from computer, some games are simple and you get 2000 rating

same . i was stuck at 1300s for 4 months . then i started to think more precisely and i gained 100 points in a week. i am now 1450 with a win against a 1700 under my belt.
