@@brucecurry1249 One of the best New Orleans romp songs ever recorded. Listen to it and you will not get plants voice out of your head. Listen to the lyrics and Pages riff! Fans went nuts over this live in 1979. "I took my baby's love at 17, a little early these days it seems...,"
'Bad' is such a loaded word. They never released a technically poor song. The musicianship on all of their recordings is first class. I would suggest, however, that 'Hats Off To Roy Harper' is one of the most unlistenable songs of theirs.
Led Zeppelin "Thank You" "The Rain Song" No Quarter" Ten Years Gone" " The Battle of Evermore and "That's the Way" are quite mellow earthy & folky LZ songs
LED ZEPPELIN IV is a flawless album. This song also makes me think of something Robert Plant himself said: "I don't understand people who say we were pioneers of heavy metal. A third of our music was acoustic."
Led Zeppelin is top 10 in my eyes and had just the right amount of heavy metal. It’s like salt in your cookies… just a pinch, too much ruins the batch. These heavy metal predecessors fell into that trap.. too much salt. I loathe heavy metal…
I was 18, living on the east coast, had just graduated High School, been fired from my job, broke up with my girlfriend, and I was ready for a change. Standing in the shower one day, a thought popped into my head, why are you still here? You’re FREE!! So I decided to move to California. My best friend, and really the first girl I ever loved, took me to the airport and walked me to the gate (when you were allowed to do that). We hugged goodbye, and she gave me a letter, telling me to open it on the plane. As I took off, I opened it (it smelled like her) and read her words. She confessed she had always wished we had been more than friends but she could never take this freedom away from me and she was happy I was leaving to start my life. Then, she had written the words to Going to California. 36 years later, I realize what she gave me. The best memory of the best goodbye I’ve ever had and the doorway to the rest of my life. This song always gives me that memory back right away. Thank you Jean. I hope you’re happy.
Zepplin always did an acoustic set in their concerts. They pulled up chairs on the side of the stage, set up like they were in a folk club rather than in front of 50,000 people

Robert Plant's voice is an instrument (more so than any other singer). The sounds he produces is excellent when he sings or just makes a pitched sound (such emotion). The best lead singer of all time to me.

*PLEASE react to "Thank You"....I promise you'll love it. Zeppelin does have nearly 100 great songs...and this is probably why they've sold the second most albums by a rock band. Second only to The Beatles. Zeppelin has many soft songs.*
This is their softer side. More like this would include: The Rain Song, What Is And What Should Never Be, Friends, Tangerine, All of My Love, Tea For One, Down By The Seaside... so many. Also Robert Plant as a solo artist has lots of songs like this too. 29 Palms, Ship of Fools, you need to react to him on his own too like you did with Journey and Steve Perry.
There's a great live version of this at Earl's Court in 1975. They would usually do an acoustic set of songs where Page, Plant and Jones sat on chairs in a row and close together. Page would play guitar, and Jones would play mandolin as well as bass with his feet on the organ pedals which can be pulled out to the front of the stage. He learned that as a young man playing a church organ. "That's the Way" is another good acoustic number.
@Jonathan gerald Robinson Good suggestion! Always reminds me of Almost Famous which is one of my favorite movies. I suggested “Thank You” for more mellow acoustic Zeppelin.
@Jonathan gerald Robinson yes Tangerine is probably my favorite acoustic song off of 3. My ex and I went to a Zep tribute band concert a couple weeks before lockdown and the band performed the whole 3rd album to celebrate it's 50th anniversary and Tangerine was my favorite
Personally, I think acoustic compositions require MORE control… MORE precision. And that’s why I like this so much. No fumbling or hiding behind distortion. They’re WORKING at this and they’re doing a damn fine job in my humble opinion.
Some of their acoustic stuff is really their best. Led Zeppelin 3 has a lot of acoustic songs that sound really good. The acoustic guitars on this particular song are Jimmy Page and the mandolin is John Paul Jones.
My husband and I just saw a Led Zeppelin tribute band last night which was AMAZING! The drummer was John Bonhams son Jason Bonham. So much respect! This song is one of my favorites! A true beauty from Led.
oh yeah. I mean Led Zep is always great, but this with the mandolin and the 12-string steel guitar are stunning in this song. This is one of my absolute Zeppelin faves
I'ts guitar and mandoline, Jimy Page on guitar and John Paul Jones on mandoline. Guitar with mandoline sounds so good. In this case, the way he sings, he's clearly enjoying it and it resonates in a beautifull way.
that more treble instrument you hear also helps to make this song. It is a Mandolin, played by the Bass player John Paul Jones. He is a Multi instrument wizard👍🎶
65 years old, and I have loved Led Zeppelin for years, but still my FIRST time hearing this song! Yeah, just more proof of the talent these guys had. Amazing skills on display in a whole different style.
Just beyond chill. Plant is indeed very much a folk singer at heart and you have to realilze when they were coming of age they loved and were inspired by folk/r&b and soul - which they brilliantly incorporated in their work. Great choice.
Jimmy Page on the acoustic guitar, and John Paul Jones on the Mandolin. Led Zeppelin has always infused acoustic guitars into their music. Their 3rd album threw everyone a curve ball, because it was predominantly acoustic.
The irony is that California, for Led Zeppelin, is the place where they absolutely raged, like deranged pirates. The Hiatt Hotel in L.A. was their headquarters on tour out west. The "Riot House," they callled it. The tales of debauchery from Led Zep in that place are legendary.
So would love to see Amber's reaction to Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You". Jay reacted like in his first week of the channel but so would love for him to share it with Amber. Zeppelin blues.
What I absolutely LOVE about Led Zeppelin is their ability to transcend any sort of classification. We label them as "classic rock," but they are SO much more. Just when you think you've figured them out, they blow your mind again. Look up "Hot Dog" - you'll be glad you did.
You're hearing Plant's roots in music and life. He's from the countryside where folk is the music of the region, haunting melodies and of course his love of R&B.
Definitely a beautiful gem 💎!!! Our eldest always had an infinity for this song.....chip off the old block, double time! My husband and I always felt a special something with this tune. 😽💋🎶
Rush is my favorite band ever, Led Zeppelin is the greatest band ever. Check out either Achilles Last Stand or Nobody’s Fault but Mine from the Presence album .
Ha :) When I was in Jr High School around 1980 you literally had to choose a side at my school. Either Rush ruled, or Led Zeppelin ruled. You could get in a fight by wearing the wrong shirt at the wrong table. I was team Led Zeppelin but it's been a long arc and now, after taking in the entirety of their careers and especially seeing all the mind boggling performances on the Time Machine Tour videos, I think Rush rules. I understand how others could see it differently though!
Watch the live version from Earls Court 1975!! Magical to watch them just sitting in chairs at the edge of the stage singing🎶 Also, from this same concert, another slower acoustic one is 'Thats The Way"🎶 One of their most beautiful songs is "The Rain Song", you wont regret hearing this one🎶🎵🎶💜 Yes, thats Jimmy on guitar and John Paul Jones (bassist) on the mandolin. " Misty Mountain Hop" is a fun one!!🎶🎸
Beautiful tune. It's funny how this song is right before When the Levee Breaks on the album. Talk about a dichotomy of sounds. Sort of the calm before the storm.
Oh, man......so much more to hear....LZ is one of the most diverse groups of all time.....keep going and you may not be so surprised any more...they run the gamut from soulful ballads and blues to hard rockin' jams....and everything in between!
Jimmy Page on guitar and John Paul Jones on the mandolin for the acoustic instruments. The Rain Song and Ten Years Gone are other great examples of their softer side
Amber why didn't you play the LIVE version from 1975 wooow your a huge 70s fan you would have really liked way more but it's yours and Jays choice i guess lol
My absolute favorite song by Zeppelin. Reminds me of when I lived in the Golden State. Shades of California Dreamin' by the Mamas and the Papa's. Thanks for your spot -on reviews
Love Led Zeppelin. There is a Pearl Jam song that they’ve admitted was heavily influenced by this song…. It is called “Given To Fly”. It’s a great one too…. Give it a listen.
It's a tribute to Joni Mitchell, who inspired them all back then. Yes, It's still Jimmy Page on acoustic guitar, John Paul Jones is playing mandolin (he could play anything it seemed). You should also listen to Battle of Evermore, my favorite acoustic song they ever did. It's beautiful and epic. I also love Bron Yr Aur stomp, which is super fun song I think about someone's dog.
One of my all time favorites is a track off the Physical Graffiti album called Bron-y-aur. It’s a short acoustic piece featuring Jimmy on his own. It’s quite beautiful and written by Jimmy. How he ever came up with it is a mystery. Must have been from one of his “trips” ;)
This is my favorite Led Zeppelin song, always has been and always will. I remember hearing them for the first time in 1969 when I got married. This song came out a little later in late 1971 maybe even early 1972.
I LOVE hard Led Zeppelin, but some of my FAVORITE songs are the sleeper tunes less played on the radio, and the soft ones. There are Many, like Stairway to Heaven that have tastes of acoustic and soft vocals combined with hard rock vocals and electric guitar. And yes, I believe virtually ALL guitar heard on any Led Zeppelin Albums was Jimmy Page. There may have been a few exceptions because sit in's were a thing back in the day, but I feel comfortable saying that Page was the main guitarist on all their hits, which is to say all their songs.
Yes Jimmy did all the guitar work and produced all their albums! With Robert's perfect vocals and the greatest drummer and JPJ and Jimmy being musical geniuses...they never missed!
Yes, Jimmy Page is on acoustic guitar, but it is John Paul Jones expertly playing mandolin that makes this song. My ABSOLUTE favorite Zeppelin song is Fool In The Rain.

And "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" from that set is a hoot.
I totally agree you HAVE to hear this live version i guarantee you will love it
I have been listening to Zeppelin for 45 years and they are my favourite band by a country mile. Rob and Amber it makes my heart soar to see two young people like yourselves really enjoy the music of one of the greatest band of all time. Thank you.
*PLEASE react to "Thank You"....I promise you'll love it. Zeppelin does have nearly 100 great songs...and this is probably why they've sold the second most albums by a rock band. Second only to The Beatles. Zeppelin has many soft songs.*
Yes! I suggested “Thank You” as well
@@pattyestrada6 I had all of their albums back then....right up to and including In Through the Out Door. But "Thank You"...it's one of the best IMO.
Another soft side to Zeppelin is "Thank You". Beautiful lyrics and music.
That's John Paul on the Mandolin!
Aren't they just magical? This live in 75 at Earls Court is magnificent! JPJ on that mandolin! Jimmy on that acoustic guitar!
One of my favorite Led Zepplin songs is "What Is and What Should Never Be".
That’s what makes a Great Band when they can play anything and do it well
Some people don't like acoustic Zep. I personally love the way they do it. It helps me calm down during episodes and it really is beautiful
There are people like that?
God who? How can anyone not love everything they did!
"Ten years gone", "What is and what should never be", "Babe I'm gonna leave you"..... ALL EPIC.!
This song takes you on a spiritual journey to California through other-worldly vocals and guitars of the gods
Amber you will love “ Rain Song”!!
I swear the only thing JPJ DOESN'T play is Favourites ;), he performs with anyone, anywhere. Just a humble masterful performer
He sure is...magnificent musician!
@@trentmacdonald6283 he sure is! My God he is a musical genius! And multi-talented!
65 years old, and I have loved Led Zeppelin for years, but still my FIRST time hearing this song! Yeah, just more proof of the talent these guys had. Amazing skills on display in a whole different style.
You would love their song "Thank You" - it's also a wonderful, romantic softy!
Just beyond chill. Plant is indeed very much a folk singer at heart and you have to realilze when they were coming of age they loved and were inspired by folk/r&b and soul - which they brilliantly incorporated in their work. Great choice.
Check out "That's The Way" and "Tangerine" from Led Zeppelin III. Both great acoustic Led Zeppelin songs .
Rain Song, Kasmir, Hey Hey what Can I Do, Ten Years Gone
Jimmy Page on the acoustic guitar, and John Paul Jones on the Mandolin. Led Zeppelin has always infused acoustic guitars into their music. Their 3rd album threw everyone a curve ball, because it was predominantly acoustic.
Critics howled that III would "destroy rock" and were very upset.
Yes and yes!
I was Rush all the way after discovering them in early 80's then went backwards to the early stuff.
To see them do this live is absolutely incredible. I was fortunate enough to see them twice once in 1970 and again in 1975.
You need to see the live version for yourself as it is incredible.Yes that is Jimmy Page.
You haven't even begun to tap into the true versatility of the Mighty Zeppelin yet.
Jay/Amber, you'll love their "Living Loving Maid" and "Rock and Roll" !!!
Another song you’d be shocked is them is “Hot Dog.” It’s very country sounding. Check it out when you can.
Led Zeppelin can blow your doors off with a rock masterpiece then reduce you to tears with a folk song like this one....all in one album!
This song is what perfection sounds like - again.
Amber why didn't you play the LIVE version from 1975 wooow your a huge 70s fan you would have really liked way more but it's yours and Jays choice i guess lol
Just the best band. It’s difficult to fault anything they made.
So much more to the zeppelin library! Still blown away how good their stuff still is today, and influential also.
You guys should try some of Robert Plant's other stuff. Especially his music with Allison Krauss.
Makes me woozy everytime.!!! And gives me goosebumps so many times throughout this incredible song.
Loved the react. Joy on the verge of tears. Several times.
You’d love “That’s the Way,” another Zep acoustic track. It’s one of my all-time favorite songs.
Yes, Jimmy Page is on acoustic guitar, but it is John Paul Jones expertly playing mandolin that makes this song. My ABSOLUTE favorite Zeppelin song is Fool In The Rain.
Can't get enough of the Zepp! They do it all. Dont forget they always change it up!
You need to hear Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.. they recorded and released their 2nd album together this past November.
Absolutely magical..
You Can't go Wrong with Led Zeppelin!!!!
Can only say great things about anything Led Zep did. Some of the best musicians EVER in rock.
Plant’s vocal range was incredible.. yes it’s Jimmy Page on guitar with bassist John Paul Jone on the Mandolin
This is one of my absolute favorite songs . . . unimaginably beautiful . . .
