Led Zeppelin "Thank You" "The Rain Song" No Quarter" Ten Years Gone" " The Battle of Evermore and "That's the Way" are quite mellow earthy & folky LZ songs
Somebody probably already said this, but supposedly this song was inspired by Joni Mitchell. Love this song. In my opinion, this is quintessential Led Zeppelin. There is a mix of it without vocals that is amazing. I'll take Robert Plant on vocals any day. And yes, John Paul Jones was Zeppelin's secret weapon! Dude is an amazing musician!
Oh HELL Yes!!!! Going to California is a special Led Zeppelin song with its mellow melody, intricate guitar picking, and deep lyrics - it's just so sweet. Spot on with this choice you two. If you want to do another soft Zeppelin song check out the song Thank You.
Thank You brings back some bittersweet memories. My second serious girlfriend(college, first one was in high school) dedicated this song to me. That relationship ended on a sour note, so whenever I hear that song it brings up mixed feelings.
How powerful was this song vocally and instrumental and without the drums ? - The band oozes talent . The Rain Song and Thank You are masterpieces and definitely need to be reacted to. Love you work guys.
Robert Plant's voice is an instrument (more so than any other singer). The sounds he produces is excellent when he sings or just makes a pitched sound (such emotion). The best lead singer of all time to me.
I believe the Tolkien stuff goes over the heads of most young folks. @@user-or1ye3iz6d The movies are cool. But I highly recommend the books. They are well written and not boring. They will grab you and you will enjoy them even if you're not much of a reader. For another version of Plant’s voice check out his duet album with Allison Krause, Raising Sand. Hard rock singer meets angelic voiced Bluegrass singer I recommend listening to “Killing the Blues”. It’s beautiful. Great album overall.

Zepplin always did an acoustic set in their concerts. They pulled up chairs on the side of the stage, set up like they were in a folk club rather than in front of 50,000 people
This is their softer side. More like this would include: The Rain Song, What Is And What Should Never Be, Friends, Tangerine, All of My Love, Tea For One, Down By The Seaside... so many. Also Robert Plant as a solo artist has lots of songs like this too. 29 Palms, Ship of Fools, you need to react to him on his own too like you did with Journey and Steve Perry.
Led Zeppelin tells epic stories. They have the most beautiful slow songs - this one gives me chills even after all these years. I wanted to be the girl with flowers in her hair 🎶 to be able to hear this, through you , again for the first time is a gift. Keep up the great work!! Love from Canada 🍁
Some of their acoustic stuff is really their best. Led Zeppelin 3 has a lot of acoustic songs that sound really good. The acoustic guitars on this particular song are Jimmy Page and the mandolin is John Paul Jones.
Yes, Katie! He played every other instrument that was needed other than the guitar, drums and harmonica. These are all the instruments JPJ played: Bass guitar, recorder, koto, lap steel guitar, autoharp, ukulele, clavinet, sitar, keyboards, keytar, mandolin, cello, background vocals
My husband and I just saw a Led Zeppelin tribute band last night which was AMAZING! The drummer was John Bonhams son Jason Bonham. So much respect! This song is one of my favorites! A true beauty from Led.
''Stairway to Heaven', 'Black Dog', and 'When the Levee Breaks' gets so much attention that people tend to overlook this song ,''The Battle of Evermore" and 'Misty Mountain Hop". Which is to say the whole album is great. Because of the mandolin, 'The Battle of Evermore' would have paired well with REM's 'Losing My Religion'.
Yeah why no love for Battle of Evermore? I'm thinking a lot of regs need clearcut beats to hear music like that, where that song's rhythm is like waves of water. It's incredible! Maybe over people's heads. Unfortunate.
