I’m very happy to say that the cake mentioned in this video was mine. This was done at the first ever LeMons in Monterey and my girlfriend (wife know) made a spectacular cake with her sister and former baker mother of my 1984 Fiat Ritmo Cabrio, Palinuro Edition. It won me first place although at this show you never know if first place is good or bad...probably bad. Been at this show nearly every year with a different car in the collection. Keep it up Alan.

Lol yes they are, Funny thing is that I have a 1947 Ford Sportsman that literally wins every show it has gone to. It almost feels like its too easy. It has 2 Dearborn awards. And a ton of other trophies. Super rare car, I have no plans to sell it. I would rather have the car for the family stories and memories than the $300,000!

I had heard of it. And I've been to a Lemons race at Carolina Motorsports Park. I love the fact that same people that would take a car to Pebble Beach would also take a (different) car to Concours de Lemons. Great video - a good "fun Friday" video post.
Buddy and I are trying to build up a Lemons car right now for some CMP action this Fall. Been there on the motorcycle but never a car.

Great story, I hate what the Concours has become; I remember as a kid getting to walk right in with my dad the day of, without all the pomp that has come with the past decade. Randomly got to meet Emerson Fittipaldi one year as he was walking out of the show; made this little 9 year old's year.

It's good to have stuff like the lemons to maintain a balance in 'the force'.
Everyone is of course entitled to their opinions of various vehicles, makes, forms and activities but in the end the passion to do stuff with the cars is the uniting factorn whether you're blowing each speck of dust off a stanced slug or purposely adding rust to a beater to make it look as beaten as possible while remaining usable.
Excellent, Lemon events are taking over the world. This is the best thing since moldy sliced bread.

Did the Cadillac Allante qualify as Rust Belt American Junk or Overly Complex Italian car? Hard to believe they made over 21000 of these Pininfarina bodies. They flew the bodies by airplane between Italy and America. Slapped in a FWD Northstar V8😂. A huge waste of resources that failure was.
On the last lemons rally, I heard that the allante owners club was furious that an allante was associated with a lemons event. Apparently they sent a very long letter stating how lemons disgraced the car. Like, nobody cares about your $1,500 car that was junk from the time it was new

You'd be surprised how many people love their curio cars. You'd be surprised how many people form a bond with their "daily driver". My mom's friend has been driving the same 1965 mustang since she bought it in 1965. It is beat to all hell, has been stolen twice and probably has as much rust as metal left under the same primer from 20 years ago, but she keeps it drive-able and only drive it and a similar condition 80's something MBZ 380SL. Refuses to get a newer car. My Mom drives an early 00's subcompact Japanese death trap.. and will be 80 next year. Refuses to take my hand me down newer and safer retired work cars.. loves her little death trap with manual everything other than the transmission.
A lot of those "bonds" run far deeper than those of an exotic/rare car collector with their vehicles. Its a sort of loyalty to an hunk of metal for the memories it embodies and mental comfort it provides. No reason those crap cars shouldn't be celebrated.

This is awesome. I stopped going to Carmel because of how stuffy it became but hearing about this I may go, having this light hearted fun show poking a bit of fun at all the uptight jackasses at pebble would improve the overall experience greatly. Also, this guy is an absolute gem, looking at him you’d think he was a Ivy League doucher but he opens his mouth and funny pours out. Gold.

I went once in 82? in Laguna Beach. The guy that played Doc on the Love boat was there with his female companion, they sat behind us under the announce tent. She wore a loose fitting stark white outfit, top and tennis shorts, and no undergarments. I was 15 years old and my best friend Scott and I kept dropping the venue book for some reason. Scotts mom even commented that we were clumsy that day! She had dark hair, olive skin, eyes like the med, and a brazilian. It was a 15 year olds wet dream. Ah the good old days. That what I get for not wearing my glasses. I thought this was the other concourse.
When there is no VINwiki on weekends do you come back and rewatch the entire week again.

Listen to the story and pause at 9:28. The vehicle is CLASSIC. Split windshield. Sliding glass windows on the sides in front AND back. The old school low round headlights. The body line crinkle that runs down the middle of the body from front to back. The color of the whole setup. The square radiator intake........magnificent. I LOVE anything cool and unusual.

VSPs or "voiture sans permis" are tiny cars that don't require a license in France (it literally means "car without license"). They are often used by people that lost their drivers license due to drink-driving. Fortunately they can't go over 28mph / 48kph so there hasn't been a spate of deaths.

Aah 24 hours of Lemons at Thunderhill. I hated doing track days on my Ducati’s the weekend after that event. Always oil and garbage left over round the track.

I have an 05 VW passat that is held together by zip ties, duct tape, and the doors stay closed with some clever velcro engineering. Not my daily car but it was my first car and I cant stand to part with it so the half ass repairs just keep adding up. It's great.
