      So, in real life, I think it was Phil Remmington (the skinny engineer guy in the movie) that he talked with such a thick Texas accent with so much regional slang, and Ken Miles talked with such a thick cockney british accent and regional slang that it would have seemed like the two of them would need a translator just to have a conversation; but, they always knew exactly what the other was saying when they were talking about cars.

      It's just the language of racers. They can feel everything. Whether it's the ratio of the gears, the tires not gripping to the road, the weight distribution and even as far as noticing the micro delays of the engine. It's always fascinating.

    • @Soldier4USA2005
      @Soldier4USA2005 2 месяца назад +1

      @@GabsARV What's even more fascinating is you can't teach all of that, not in a million years. Some people are wired differently, both body and mind. Regardless of upbringing. Some people just ... CAN. And this guy is one of them.
      Before he died, he probably forgot more about cars than you or I will EVER know in our entire lives. People like that are special. They come MAYBE once a generation and should be greatly respected like the demi-gods they appear to be.

    When I was in sales we called it the weekend pet strategy. Idea being, a pet shop owner is dealing with a customer who’s on the fence about getting, say, a dog. The owner suggests just taking it home for the weekend and trying it out, knowing that when people get the thing they want, even temporarily, they want to keep it. Shelby put the puppy in Ken’s hands, for lack of a better term. Worked like a charm.

      Exactly. I had wanted to build this big, top of the line PC that would cost 4k. Too much normally but after reading Amazon's 12 month payment deal, I figured it'd work. Came to find out that they'd tried to put all 4k worth of parts on the Amazon Store Card I have that currently only has a limit of 900. What I should've done was just cancel it all and wait a few more months for more cash. But by then, I'd gotten the idea of finally owning my dream PC stuck in my head and ended up putting everything on my credit card, which had just got upped to a 3.5k limit. With the Amazon Store Card, I could buy everything. Still trying to pay that all off.
      So maybe not the exact same strategy but close.

      Yes! The movie implies that Shelby "built" the car but really he "tuned it" for racing. Not that this is inconsequential but it's not the same as building a car. Without the initial work by Lola (the Mk6 GT), Ford would not have won.

    They can make a Ford vs Ferrari 🚗movie 2,3,4 from the 60's and even in 2016 in more modern times beating Ferrari toe to toe when it spun out of control and the Ford GT40 kept the lead. In 2016 it was almost a similar race to this movie but different. Ford made a come back after several years of not participating in Lemans.💪
