    This and the Anthurium care video, are the most comprehensive I've ever seen on the topic.
    I also love the format. Beautiful visuals, calming voice over and highly informative.
    Please keep them coming❤

    I'm glad someone else is saying that philodendron care is not easy!😫 Anthuriums have been the eaaiest for me, but philodendrons are a genus that I struggle with! But the info in this video was definitely eye-opening and gives me a new perspective on philodendron care. Thanks, Jake!

    I have always found the philos that I loved were really really sensitive...to everything 😂 but now I know WHY! I love learning about the different anatomy and what it can tell us as hobbyists! Thanks for sharing this info, it really opens up a whole new understanding about how to know how to care for them!

    Such great information in this vid! I've had plants all my life, literally my mom had her own jungle before I was born, and some of the more uncommon/rare philos I've really STRUGGLED with and killed. they're not impossible but def more challenging. The most bullet proof philo IMO would be the philo 'selloum'. The one I have is at least 32 years old and survived being stuck in a moving pod ( what were we thinking? 🤦‍♀ ) that was lost for 3 weeks in the middle of summer and not show any signs of stress or even lose a single leaf 10/10 recommend

      Thank you! That's amazing you've had the selloum for over 30 years! I also come from a plant loving family! My mom loves gardening and my Grammy loved houseplants! Guess the green thumb runs in the family!

    Great video! I've been quite careless with a lot of my plants but I've owned about 25 different philos and none of them have died on me. I'm actually baffled by the number of people talking about root rot when it's something that I've seen only once in my life after owning more than 500 plants (and it was an extreme case of neglect, this Alocasia was literally left for dead... and came back from the dead).
    Anyway, my philos aren't all doing so hot either, I've been so busy with work lately that some of them have suffered but the ones that are the easiest to grow IME are (of course) the green hederaceum, the climbing-vining types (Florida, Jerry Horne, bipennifolium, gigas, Burle Marx variegata, etc.), joepii and the Spiritus Sancti are also very easy to care for, my Spiritus might even be the easiest plant in my collection. It took me a long time to figure out how little light it needed when it was still a TC plantlet but since it took off it's been smooth sailing. Tbh, I kind of struggle with verrucosum because I can't get it to grow outside of a propagation bin with >90% RH (where it grows like a weed) but I'll try it in semi-hydro next and will hopefully be able to integrate it in my office jungle.

    I recently purchased a philodendron summer glory. This plant actually 😱 scares me. Any tips? I haven't found an ideal spot for it in my home. I keep moving it from one place to another. My bedroom is colder than the rest of my home and i had it there for a week. I then moved it all around my home trying to find the perfect spot. That has not happened yet.
    Distilled water is what I use for all my plants. It is in a chunky soil.

    • @plantgayforlife
      @plantgayforlife  9 месяцев назад +1

      No need to pamper it. Summer glory is a hybrid of 2 fairly easy and fuss-free philodendrons. You don’t need to give it distilled water. Tap water will be fine. Fertilize it well cuz it can grow fast. It doesn’t need bright light but it can help create more vibrant emergent leaf colors. No direct sun😉

    [Worry intensifies about the discount little Philo Fuzzy Petiole I got a month ago] It came to me with crispy edges and is slowly putting out a new leaf but I don't have a humidifier yet...hopefully it hangs on

    • @plantgayforlife
      @plantgayforlife  11 месяцев назад +1

      they don't need a humidifier they just need perpetual moisture to keep their roots healthy, which in turn will keep their leaves looking pristine 😊
