Do you alocasia in the same way?
I started buying on Etsy and then discovered Palmstreet! Probably not a good thing because it is so addictve and fun! 😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Are you a comedian😂? I think yes?
who do i like to whatch...you. I also like Sean from OnlyPlants, Kaylee Ellen, Pretty in Green. .
Love all those channels too!
well, you are now my new favourite plant youtuber :p but I like watching Leca Queen, Kill this plant, Sydney Plant Guy, and a few other BPOC plant youtubers
Feel free to shout out some bpoc channels you recommend!😁
How long have you had him? How soon after you got him did you change the type of medium you use? Also, what is a more not beginner beginner friendly but the in between plant parent friendly type of anthurium?.. He is beautiful even though he's eating you out of house and home😂
3 years Immediately since he was an ecuagenera import Most cardiolanchium section anthuriums I would classify as intermediate since a pedestrian plant owner would probably struggle with most of them. meaning they’re not as easy to grow as a snake plant or a monstera
Also is there any way you would consider seeing if you can source a queen locally thats already used to your local environment to try again? Or is the queen dead to you? 😆
I’ve tried that before, still didn’t work. Maybe I’ll try again in the future. But no one is going to sell their nice queen. They’re going to try selling their shitty looking rehab queen they can’t keep happy. And I don’t wanna buy an ugly one
@plantgayforlife oh yeah I completely get that, I bought mine when it was a 4 leaf seedling, she sized up really quick, you could always try a bebe and document it growing?
I watch sydney plant guy, you dont grow here, houseplantygoodness, and about 10 others i cant remember the youtube name just their actual names 😆
youdontevengrowhere, nxcplants and benjiplants :)
This was funny AF! I always check out you of course, Pretty in Green, Rousseau Plant Care, Plant and Style with Peachy, Planted in Platinum, Only Plants, Sage, NxcPlants, Kaylee Ellen, Samantha Roxas, and waaay to many others.
Omg I love the emoji!!🤣
@@plantgayforlife lol
Other than your page, I like youdon'tevengrowhere, Pretty in Green, NXCplants, and Proppist are the only ones I watch as soon as they come out but I also like Gardening in Canada, Aloha Plant Life, the beardedplantaholic, and there are some random ones like Nick Alexander who needs to post more. I mainly watch only anthurium pages now, but not only.
Agreed, Nick needs to be more active, his content is top tier
9:34 How about using a cake turntable when you do the 'swirly whirly' thing?😂
If I had one I’d definitely use it!
😂 So yeah I definitely used to curve your channel but now I enjoy watching
Haha! I’m an acquired taste at times
I love the crazy! I think it looks so cool!
I watch some of the above named. Where do you get those big glass vases from?
Locally, check out jamaligarden.com :)
I watch you, PlantsByMelissa, WildFern, SyndneyPlantGuy, YouDontEvenGrowHere, Sheffield Made Plants, LOTS I love so many!
This 🙌 and also unplantparenthood.
ThT really looks amazing !!
Dang Jake you just messed up the best pest predator there is, Praying Mantis cocoon. 😢 Love the curly Willow it looks great 😍
Don’t worry I opened it, there was nothing in it😅
That's a great vase! Thanks for the dimensions. I'm always so unsure. I love Sydney Plant Guy, Sheffield Made Plants, The Leca Queen, Heart Shape Leaves (she crazy 🤣), and Plants With Kristal. Love you guys so much! You guys keep me entertained and teach me so much. A+++ creators! BTW, did you just eat that dead root?😂
I don’t recall eating a root but I wouldn’t put it past me😜
i potted my florida beauty a lil too deep in my last chop and extend , the bottom petioles rotted and infected the main stem and now everything bellow soil is dying ..... i don't even think i will be able to take a top cutting without it reverting ...currently I'm in a race between air layering and rott ...
Sydney plant guy, wildfern, bearded plant guy, plants with roo, jungle nook, good growing,
Anthurium suck for me. Philodendron is where it's at. Sorry
Welp I don’t grow Antheridiums either. Only Anthuriums.
@@plantgayforlife lol. Spell check. Sorry. But I can't keep anthuriums alive
@@plantgayforlife LMAO!
Soooo many planty people I watch. Sydney Plant guy, Yoga and Plants with Roos, That wacky UK Bearded plant guy?? Leafy Luster, Sean at Only Plants, Plants with Krystal, Kaylee Ellen, Pretty in Green ........ Everyone has a different perspective and focus in the plant community. I watch at this point just to see how everyone is progressing as I've got my plant care routine down that works for me. Love the energy ( especially your educational deep dives) and music you bring to the table Jake. 😻
Thanks so much! Pretty in green is especially great!😃
@@plantgayforlife yeah, he stole our Burke Marx deep dive idea tho. I still think you do a much better David Attenborough 😉
You are soooo amazing. I always learn from you. Love your honesty. Your energy is so high. And you have such glowing skin. Could you please share where you find your nice, large, glass containers?
Aww thank you!☺️✨my glass vases are from Jamali in the flower district of Manhattan. Their website is jamaligarden.com
Pretty in Green; Houseplanty Goodness; Worcester Terrariums; Kill This Plant; and the one with Claire and Yoli (can’t remember the name); Sydney Plant Guy
How do you know how much of the draining portion to put? I am trying this with a cissus javana and using just pumice for the drain. My container is a tall vase and the pumice is about as about 1.5 times deeper than a finger length, taking up about the bottom third of the vase. Which seems deep, but I'm not sure if that makes a big difference? The plant is young and has fine roots to begin with, so I'm also worried about using too much moss if that's possible.
There’s no clear cut rule but I find that 1 inch is enough regardless of pot size, if a plant likes it wet and can’t tolerate drying out even slightly, I will make the reservoir deeper than 1 inch so water can sit on the bottom and keep the roots hydrated longer
@@plantgayforlife Thank you! That was my reasoning as well with this plant. To my knowledge they are a lover of damp but ONLY JUST, and just kind of finicky overall. Ugh. So my hope is that this method will let it sort itself out with minimal intervention on my part lol.
That sack you threw away and off that branch was praying mantis bebes, lol but I watch Wildfern, Sydney Plant Guy, you of course 😂, youdontevengrowhere, un plant parenthood, houseplantygoodness, onlyplants, Kaylee Ellen , lol just pretty much anyone those are my mains though..
Really?? Well I cracked it open and didn’t see anything in it so hopefully the mantises already hatched!😅
@@plantgayforlife was probably on there when they cut the branch and dried out, that or you have bebe manty's aka free pest management in your apartment 😆
I like you, unplantparenthood, Youdontevengrowhere, Nick Alexander, Hakunalaplanta, Wildfren, Houseplantygoodness, Kaylee Allen, Leafy Diva, Onlyplants. I know I'm missing many others but lately my top must watch.
Thanks! I enjoy some of those channels too! 😊
I follow Nick Alexander I think you would like him. Very smart and funny. In the same vein of how you plant (no drainage) Unplantparenthood and Youdontevengrowhere are amazingly good. I also follow Wildfern and Jazmina. Lowe. I love your mix for the anthurium 🖤🌸
Nick has some great in-depth videos for sure! He does his research which I appreciate.
I just brought a narrow form king anthurium despite having no experience with them so I’m watching this now lol
They are easy just slowwww. So let it sit for a while before you expect anything out of it 😅
@@plantgayforlife Thank you for the reassurance! I basically brought that plant because it was honestly a really good deal and I saw a few pics of it on instagram + saw your videos and thought “wow they look cool”. Will definitely watch your videos to prepare!
I watch a few others. Some are good, and some just rant about their lives. I find that they tend to explore new content by putting make up on, then taking you shopping. I have no interest in that. It has nothing to do with planting. Clearly they have no new material, but let’s face it. You can only talk about so much… I don’t have any Anthuriums. I’m not sure if I want a huge collection. I have about 30 plants. Im trying to put my plants in glass like you. Just experimenting… I like your music too 😊
Thank you! Oh girl you need at least one anthurium! There’s so many low-fuss ones! 3 very different ones I would recommend are Clarinervium, vittariifolium, and luxurians x radicans.😁
I’ve used grapevines for support and I place them strategically around my plants to discourage my cats from attacking plants. But I haven’t used these types of branches. I bet they’re more cost effective so I’m definitely going to look into them. Totally get that you may be trying to avoid hitting roots but if you push the ends of the branches more towards the center of the pot, it might look nice. The idea being it might look good if the ends in your substrate are hidden. You can also attach stems to your branches instead of just have your branches provide support. There are lots of fun options. Even just using a taller vases to keep the stems pulled in can work and is great for future proofing your pot. When I use clear stakes for shaping, I try to use them closer to the center and attach the stem higher to cover as much of the stake as possible with the stem and leaf. I love unplantparenthood because Charmaine has a great planty style and perspective and I love her stories. I love youdontevengrowhere because Alice shares helpful advice and comes across as so lovely. killthisplant is great for basics and is entertaining and so practical. Sydney Plant Guy is smart and puts the work in and I enjoy hearing what he has to say. I also enjoy the other people he includes in his video. The LECA Queen uses a different approach but gives great information and provides context around what works and what doesn’t. Houseplanty Goodness is all around good. There are so many other channels I enjoy but those are my favorite active channels plus yours obviously.
Why would you put it in moss? Moss is so hard to work with. I don't think I haven't had anything rot in it. Also what is that wonderful tree branch things?
Moss is good if you're an underwaterer which he said he was moss retains moisture which can be added to limit dry rot.
Curling willow! Moss is easy for me but not for everyone.
Some plantubers that I watch: The millennial plant dad Wildfern Harli G Becca de la plants Betsy begonia Basie plants Plants and tings Jazmina Lowe Killthisplant Sproutswithjoy Benjiplant Unplantparenthood Youdontevengrowhere Yoga and plant with Roos A good mix of good info, fun aesthetics, and just good background noise. I liked you from the start because you are extra in a good way haha I am also always annoyed with philos. Tell me why is my gloriosum not growing right now? It is summer!
Swedish plant Guys Sober Plant Guy
Haven’t heard of a few of these channels. I’ll have to check them out!😊
Wow that plant is beautiful! Can you put you head through it! lol!
Yes I can haha!
Are you sure it is mold and not mycelium?
No idea. Like I said, I’m no mold expert. So I’m definitely no mycelium expert.
at 12:00 Where did you get that brass pot (if you don't mind me asking). I absolutely love it!
Jamali garden in Manhattan! Their website is jamaligarden.com
@@plantgayforlife Thank you!
Entertaining as always
I ❤❤❤ your videos about your no drainage system. I’m trying to build up the courage to try it. I’m still so nervous 😬. You make it look so ezzzzzzzzz. Luv your videos Jake!!!!! More please 🙏🏾
It is easy! Give it a try!
Your plants’ leaves are GORGEOUSNESSSSSSSS😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you!!☺️
Babies can be A LOT 🤣🤣😂🤣
Do you have moss or mold mites from the algae and etc?
I have spring tails and or soil mites that work symbiotically with the plant roots. I didn’t put them there, they found their way into my collection haha!
lmfao i have a 5yr old and a 3yr old ....... and you told no lies 🤣😭🤣
Idk how you do it!🙌
@@plantgayforlife 🤣🤣 barely
Omg, i have the same struggle!! I ended up buying transparent orchid pots that sits in transparent vases. Works theoretically like one of those "self watering" planters but the algae surprisingly only form on the inside of the vase and not on the orchid pot. My guess is that the algae on the vase forms first and stop the light from hitting the pot inside the vase. Anyway, I can take the orchid pot outside the vase once a month and clean the vase - put it back I gotta try your way now and more save time :)
Funny video. Did someone say something against not flushing? Or you just woke up and chose “presidential” (vawulens)? 😅 Anyway, where do you get your glass vases from please? And, do you still have any of your self anthurium babies available?
I get my vases from Jamaligarden.com
And yes I have a few Black Swan babies left! DM me on Instagram or Facebook (Jake Inzerra)😊
Can you do a video like this for Philodendron El choco red?? Ya boy is strugggggling with the new leaves getting stuck
Spray them with water and they’ll pop out on their own!😊
I have so much algae even with a layer of fulval...
Use a cachepot
Ooh, mawma, I knew you would have a video for me. I'm getting my Esmeralda soon. Meanwhile, I'm just sitting here flooding my metaphorical basement. Seriously though, thank you so much for explaining the biology behind these plants. How am I supposed to know what my plant wants without knowing about its natural environment and the reason they grow the way they do. Do you have any suggestions on really good places that explain these things succinctly the way you do? By the way, great writing! And great tone and inflection in your delivery. You are so talented, sis!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it😊
Ha! My mom felt the same about baby and little kids. I’ve got the trauma to prove it!! 😂😂😂
I would love to be able to find a pop up of Ecuagenera!! I think one is coming to my area, but it’s for orchids. I want me Anthurium!
