    The skull being in a glass case is giving museum exhibit vibes, so cute!

    Like you, I love to display my plants as decor. All of my plants, mostly anthuriums, are growing in ambient. It can get as low as 35% in the winter for me and they are all growing well. I don’t do humidifier either. I grow in semi hydro so that helps a lot with the constant moisture.

    usually not an orchid fan but that first plant is gorgeous!! totally agree with your take on plants being incorporated into space rather than in one specific spot

      Yes! It makes the plants and your home more interesting when they’re incorporated into each other!😄

    I love it incorporating books and plants into my decor 🙌🙌
    They’re just so perfect together and they help elevate small plants closer to my grow lights.
    Plus visiting used bookstores is just the best. I look for hardcopies of books with great titles. I take off the protective outer cover and check to see if the fabric part (or fabric-like part) looks good (I aim for black, gray, brown, cream or white). I also try to find ones with foil fonts that are complimentary.
    I don’t buy any I wouldn’t read.
    I try to find all different sizes.
    I’m super excited when I find something small that looks nice because they’re so versatile when it comes to where I can use them.
    No saucers means there’s very little chance of water spilling onto the books but if I’m scared, I pick up my vase to water my substrate.
    Your place looks great. It all really works well together.

    Very well balanced display shelf. I really like the mix of plants and books, along with the unique skull terrarium ! As for the Skunk weed, I have seen them bordering along wetland areas here in Washington State.

      @@plantgayforlife yes, very stanky! I actually didn't realize they were aroids until recently seeing planty RUclipsr Roos from the Netherlands wondering what they were called.Of course Netherlands would have these at the local plant nursery 😹Google reverse identification and search to see if we have them available locally, led me to finding they're an invasive species here that I will just admire in the wild 😜

  • @JezzaCraito

    I got some aroids in ambient conditions. Surprisingly they seem to do just fine! Though mine are known to be a tad bit hardier than most. =]
    I liked the brief look through of that plant book, and the line you said "A house adorned with plants."

    Actually Tank-Bromeliads do love water, in nature they are always filled up with water. That Achmea is severley dehydrated, you can tell by its extremey curved in leaves which is a protection mechanism to prevent further transpiration. If you just fill up the center of the plant with water you'll see she is gonna recover quickly 😎

    • @plantgayforlife
      @plantgayforlife  2 месяца назад

      Noted, I might as well try watering the tank. I was worried stagnant water indoors would rot the inside in low light. But I can always replace it if it rots.

    • @alemantropical5625
      @alemantropical5625 2 месяца назад

      @@plantgayforlife yes I was refering to the tank rosette of the plant. They usually don't rot due the water in the tank rosette, but of course in a home environment it might be a good idea to change the water in the tank rosette every once in a while. The leaf curving also happens to some of my Bromelias during our dry season, but they bounce right back once I fill up the tank rosettes.

    Where I grew up in northeast Ohio were large swaths of Skunk Cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus), not sure if they still exist there or not. Anyway, unless it is in flower, the plant doesn't actually smell unless you damage the leaves. The smell is very difficult to remove if it gets on you, the name is quite apt.
