- Join us during springtime in North Idaho as we complete our farm chores and welcome a few more Scottish Highland calves to the ranch. We fill our refrigerator with raw cow's milk from our family milk cow, Shirley, who gives birth to a handsome bull calf named Mr. Cocoa. We are letting Shirley nurse Mr. Cocoa during the day and night and we milk her as a family first thing in the morning to fill our refrigerator with on average 2.5 gallons per day of raw milk. We also move some of our Scottish Highland cattle to a new paddocks as part of our rotational grazing program to improve pasture grasses and improve the soil quality.
About Us: Thanks for joining us and our four homeschooled children behind the scenes as we run our ranch together and enjoy traditional mountain living. We raise Scottish Highland cattle, Katahdin sheep, Berkshire pigs, a family milk cow, and barnyard chickens on 100 acres in beautiful scenic Idaho. We are a Christian family that drinks raw milk, raises our own meat, works with our hands, and hunt and fish together to help fill our freezer. This channel won't be flashy or exciting. We love the beauty of old fashioned slow living as a family. From here on out we plan on posting content from our daily lives around the ranch as we cook and eat together, learn together, build from scratch, steward the land, and tend to livestock as a family. We also make and consume a lot of sourdough bread :)
Feels like everything is right with the world when you watch this family

Youll do great with the milk cow. It’s pretty darn easy to get milk in the fridge and good family time! 😀
I missed you guys last week! So happy to see new life on your farm and a new video too!!
Thank you Samantha!
Your family is such a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing with us 🎉
Thank you for such kind words!
Highland cattle will also eat bread slices as treats. Might be cheaper than store bought treats. Temperature swings sounds alot like us in northern Wyoming.
Wish I could have some of that milk😊
It is tasty stuff!! 😆
Dr Pol recommends on his show to use a gel, of your choice for the dried up quarter
We will have to look that up! Thank you!
Schön, wieder ein neues Video von euch zu sehen ❤
Wei viele Tiere habt ihr?
Liebe Grüße
Thank you! It’s hard to count the amount of animals here 😂
Your milk stansion seems to be working well. Did is spell stansion wrong?
Hahaha we arent sticklers for grammar or saying “paddock” instead of “paddocks.’ Yes sir working out great. Thanks Chad!! 9254TheWin
How do you make money on your Ranch?
Serious question.. We’ve considered a milk cow for a while now but we buy it from a local Amish for less than you can buy a gallon of store bought pretend milk. We drink and use a lot of milk and spend about 10 bucks a week on real good cream filled milk which we make butter, whipped cream, and stuff from. Does it seem to make more sense for us to just buy it or is there something all to enjoyable about milking your own every day?
Cheaper for us! If we werent calf sharing Shirley would throw us 5 gallons a day. Our 4 chidlers drink so much milk! You know how that is! And we love it too though. And butter and yogurt is a bonus :)
At $14 a gallon here for good raw milk it is way cheaper for us to have a dairy cow :)
Sounds like such a score you have buying from local Amish!
@@TheRancherAndTheWife $14!!!!?? Wowzers! The Amish here told me $3 a gallon but I give her $5. And it’s A2A2 and good stuff!
Edit.. I don’t pay cash anymore. I trade meat birds and lambs for it. Keeps uncle Joe off Amish backs
