Drummers are absolutely responsible for pedal tuners. The time between the guitar player asking the drummer to chill while they tuned and the drummer forgetting why he stopped banging something usually ranges between middle of tuning A to almost done tuning A
@@undervelvetlounge4232 its the drummers behavior since the dawn of time so we kinda just let it slide without making a big deal. Tuning is a different concept to them since they don't have to do it as nearly as often, and when they have to its much more time consuming for a rehearsal.

Still waiting for All Nightmare Long vs Spit out the Bone, frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriend.
Both are masterpieces but Spit Out The Bone has an incredible headbanging breakdown and better production. On the other hand tho, i think All nightmare Long's solo is better. It's hard to choose.
@Nintariz That would be amazing! But Death Magnetic's vocals are already cool imo. For me the only thing thats bad for that album is production quality. I would love a remastered version of it
@Nintariz No i didnt. Do you have a link for that ?
Love both, but ANL is more edgier and fits perfectly with the cthulhu saga so is the one for me
St.Anger will forever have a sweetspot in my heart. 3 days ago I bought it in Vinyl, making it my first ever Metallica record bought on the big disc, and I can say I'm a proud owner. It's a rough diamond that in the last few years has finally got its respect.
I'm thinking to buy a deluxe edition, for all the footage in high quality
@Derfel Cadarn Most elitists consider the Black Album to be the death of Metallica. For me, I love all of their albums because they fill the niche of all kinds of music I generally listen to. Punk/raw thrash metal, heavy metal, rock/grundge, nu metal etc.
I bought St Anger near release. I saw Frantic on TV and loved it cus it was different. I've always liked the album and found it very strange over the years seeing so many people get so angry and personal over a fucking cd. It's music, if you don't like it, don't listen. Definitely don't spend the next 15 years all over the Internet bitching and moaning like it's your band. The live versions of Frantic and St Anger they do now are very cool. Also well done AV for another great video.
@@dales616 even though I wasn't there to witness St Anger upon release, I can understand some people's frustration. Since they didn't know the future. So many years without an album - and now they give something even "worse" than Loads. It really might've seemed like the death of Metallica. But now we know it's the album that rebooted them.

Exactly, even though people criticize it for its drum sound. The drum is not too bad, the Metallica 'fans' criticize it all the time. One of their best albums, raw anger and pure metal.
@@Maggiethegsd can you imagine it now without the snare!)) The meme is responsible for like 60% of people to over check out the album
@@Maggiethegsd being a fan doesn't mean that you're required to automatically enjoy everything they do. @@AndriyVasylenko yes lol, but the snare meme gets over everything that people say about metallica. The meme is becoming cringy now, when kids go 'Damn bruh have you listened to the Metallica trash can album' just by hearing of the meme, and not even checking out the album themselves.
Sometimes it’s the *simple* riff that is hard to get timing down for. I’m glad Kirk had the same problem that I had learning some songs.
True, I can downpick a lot of Metallicas fast songs, but I have problem with timing in Rammstein riffs
Rafados Official lool, same))
I have this problem with meshuggah riffs - try learn the timing for "new millennium Cyanide Christ" if you dare...
Its always the way. It can be slightly outside your normal style and become very difficult. I have moments like it on drums when I sit and say 'why can I not play this?'. Its like anything. We all have moments like it at work, or school, or in sports or whatever. I had a guitar player that could downstrum sooooo fast and play anything in that style, but give him something simple that was a metalcore type pattern that required just 1 note amongst that pattern, he struggled. Crazy good player though but it wasn't ideal as we were playing metalcore ha ha.
I can play all these complicated riffs, but give me a song with 4 cowboy chords and basic strumming and I'm struggling to change chords at the right time 😂

You can hear in the studio version of SKOM, the tricky part in the left side sounds perfect (James) and on the right side sounds kind of sloppy (Kirk). He never managed to play it like it was supposed to, but still managed to blend with the tightness of James playing the riff.
Yeah, you're right )))
Kirk used to write a lessons column for Guitar World magazine back in the 90's -- which really influenced the trajectory of my playing back then. There were several lessons where he called into question the riffs that James and Lars wrote -- especially the ones they would have him solo over. What really stuck with me is how he used those examples as teaching moments to illustrate the importance of professionalism, creativity, and outside the box thinking with regards to your role in the band. Dude is a player and a class act!
Hammett, Slash, Mustaine , Vai, etc are human and they keep learning. If anyone plays guitar can understand sometimes a riff stuck in your head wrongly and makes you to play wrong. Its just Metallica released the footage and others didn't. Love Kirk.
It's like repeatedly confusing a mistaken memory. Your brain's neurons are getting strongly wired down this mistaken path. So each time you try to do it right, your brain wants to take that strong existing mistake pathway instead of building a new correct one
I've seen so much footage of guitar masters just playing by themselves for RUclips videos and such, and I think, "holy shit, I can't believe that's HIM playing like that!". Sloppy, weak, bad tone, not deadening the other strings, etc.

1:28 I was lucky enough to be inside the snake pit in that concert, best night ever and I gave James and Kirk a fist bump!
non musicians have zero business commenting on what is or is not "easy to play"
Right, playing something that has already been written and fleshed out by someone else is completely different than recording your own riff for the first time. When you're playing your own stuff, you've gotta be constantly worried about if the riff matches the songs tone, the other band members playing styles, and adding your own feel. Doesn't matter if it's a simple or complex riff.

Great video yet again!
I honestly think that Kirk struggled with that riff because he had a brain lag at that moment, like anybody can have at a particular moment 'cause we ar human. Even if Hetfield plays rhythm better then Kirk, that doesn't mean that Hammet doesn't get riffs. He understands them and he also knows how to play them technically; he was just having a bad day, or a bad moment. I don't think any other explanation is needed. Truly. Brutal Honest here. 😀
Yes Sir!!!!
but did you hear the demo for Master of Puppets? That thing was atrocious. Lol.
@@natebeal18 yes i've heard it, that demo was for them probably not to forget the parts. There was no interest for them to nail that demo it's obvious. The final product made the statement of what Metallica can do. There are some good parts on those demos also, but if you listen to the record you will automatically know why the song was released the way it was released.
Yeah but don’t forget Kirk is a lead guitarist. Rhythm is hard for him

Very cool breakdown of this riff. I always love hearing those notes in between when listening to the song.
Great video man!
Funny thing about being in bands - it's often hard to play a riff written by someone else in the band. People have their own stye and natural fingerings and if it doesn't closely align with your own style then it can be tricky to learn the other person's way of playing. It's both a blessing and a curse in most bands - it's the thing that gives your band variety in the writing and the unique sound of your music, but has that tendency to sometimes make it tricky to learn the riffs.
You would think being in Metallica for >20 years would have got Kirk past that at this point, but I guess it still happens to the best of us.
Absolutely.

Great video! But rember lars trying to learn the "the shortest straw" Intro on guitar hero? I'm a Drummer and I exactly know why he couldnt get it right. All of the Kirk&Rob Doodles on the Hardwired tour were garbage. So the Prince one doesn't really stand out.
