Brian,,, I ride one around town and I hope that with more off them on the road the bike lanes will accommodate some extra room for trikes and not just bikes, though, I do mostly fit inside them.
Thank you for this video! I've always been an admirer of Performer bikes, and couldn't help to smile throughout the entire episode. I do agree: their designs are really pleasing to the eye, very ellegant and stylished. What a great way to spend the day!!
Fantastic Visit to the Manufacture of the bike I ride. I have to tell you Mat, you have some great skills in interviewing people. You remind me of Huell Howser, a guy that interviewed people up and down California back-in-the-day. But just wanted to say, VERY NICE JOB, and you even went out to eat with the Boss,, very unexpected! JaYoe!!!!
Jezz Matt this vid actually made my mouth water . What a fantastic job you did on the presentation of the Performer factory , great people too . Like your self Matt I have always been fascinated with how things work , which is why I have worked for General Motors for 32 years but I still prefer human power , Trikes are the evolution ..Jayoe ..
Great episode. If I was a recumbent rider, I would definitely get one from his company. Everyone seems happy to be working there, and the owner is so proud of his factory and quality of his product. Jayoe!!!
OH WOW!!! That is so nice of a factory!! George is a very gracious fellow and the trikes all look like they are put together with care and quality! Thanks again for bringing us along Matt. PS I want one of those trikes!!!! LOL
First off I want to say, sorry Matt. I started spot skipping the video and the spots I had skipped to were so cool I had to go back to the beginning and completely watch the video. I am glad I did. The video was awesome and the people were inspiring. It made me want to buy a bike from them. I always enjoy when you come across some wonderful people and the way they put things together. I am like you in taking things apart, but my world was taking technology apart. Thanks, again.
Great video Matt!!!!! I particularly love the old school lugged bike frame. I really didn’t know Taiwan made them too. They looked Italian. Can’t wait for more of these bike factory vids. Keep it up man Jayoe
Hi Tony,,,, I too ride a jc70 and love everything about them.... I was worried at first if it could handle my weight on the road, but it did great! I have lost about 20 pounds and hope to keep riding it for a very long time. I use it for just about every short trip from my house that I can think of. Love to park right to the door of the store and not have to worry about parking or GAS!!!
My old Performer trike was made here! Great trike for the price! I think I saw my current Cargo bike Frame (Larry Vs. Harry)? It looks simular to the reise and mueller cargo bike frame.
Very interesting video. When I was looking for my trike, Performer was in my last two choices. I bought a Catrike and love it. The main reason I didn't go with Performer was the proprietary parts can be difficult to get in the USA. I love the look and from the research I did, quality was very good also. Catrike is made in Orlando, Florida and the factory is on the small side like Performer. Maybe when you finally get here, you can look them up also. The owner has an interesting story. He moved here from, I think Brazil, to open his factory and make recumbents.
I took my first ever ride on a recumbent there about 4 years ago. Lovely people for sure and great bikes. At the time they weren’t making the design I wanted but they’re almost there now. They now have a folding front wheel drive highracer. It looks fantastic. I was hoping for titanium but I don’t think that’s suitable for a folder however a fwd titanium would make me open my wallet. Damn I think I’m going to buy it anyway... ;)
Great video Matt! I have a HP Scorpion FS26 too and a Catrike, but there is nothing in the trike market that even comes close to the value of Performer, they are well made, but literally half the price of the competition. It's cool to see they are nice people too.
You know Timothy, I sometimes wonder when I will be ridding an HP trike. I had to buy something to get started last year and I settled for the best prize on the market and it was a Performer. Loved the designed and it had everything I needed. Now after riding this bike for over 900 miles I don't think I ever be riding anything else. Totally love riding my Performer!
I purchased a jc-26 X 27 speed and I paid $1635 from Upzy. I recommend them because everyone else wanted to charge me shipping that was in the hundreds and Upzy did not charge me anything for shipping!
@@georgea4500 wow the prices have really jumped. I just ordered the same trike except it folds for 2600. I also bought it from Upzy. Free shipping no sales tax and I caught their 5% off Spring sale.
Loving your factory visits Matt. George was a sweetie, very proud & enthusiastic about his bikes & trikes. Seemed like a very nice man to work for, happy staff make happy bikes & trikes. Finally, the plant you were eating looked like Aloe vera, or was it a cactus after all? JY.
Can buy it as a potted house plant here in UK so pricey way to try it, you did make it seem really, really tasty though Matt. Might start grazing round the plant centres!
The standard two wheel market in Asia is way over-saturated, it's understandable that their biggest market is trikes and custom units. Wish I could afford to order one from them!... ;P
I have an HP, a Catrike and a Terratrike. The Terratrike is cheaper but decent, the HP and Catrike are both really great rides. I'm helping a couple friends pick out their trikes and I recommended Performer to both of them; when you look at value - quality and price together, they stomp everybody out there.
Timothy Cain here's what this guy at a trike shop told me about performer. It's made in China, not quality trike, and it's hard to gets parts to it and that's why they don't sell it at their shop. They use to ten years ago he also added Made in China?
There are not too many distributors in the USA and he's not one of them. Go ask a Ford dealer about Chevy, do you think they are going to push something they don't sell? Finally, you saw from the video they are made in Taiwan (province of China yes, but not like the mainland). Other than Catrike, I can pretty much guarantee you most of the trike framesets he sells come from Taiwan, so that argument is weak. Do some more research and you will see they are well regarded by people who have bought them, or don't, lol, I don't get a commission.
Even saxophone made in Taiwan is pretty dominant in their category since weatern manufacturers are no more making them .especially Usa saxophone manufacturers have set its products set in Taiwan and China. tought them from the beginning to end on the how to make the saxophone to be purchasable value so on so far.the saxophone named "Cannonball"used to be made in usa is now made in Taiwan . it is really high end saxophone. you might know that Matt .
Well got my bike (a Goal 20/26) and have to say if I had bought this locally I probably would have returned it. First its VERY heavy for it being aluminum. Then the front tire rubs on the fork its so tight. Its like they swapped tires without checking clearances. I went back and forth with their rep trying to get it fixed, but finally gave up, and bought a different fork. Then the steer tube was so long that even if I pulled it all the way back to me it was at eye level on my short bar setup. Ended up getting an adjustable from Bacchetta along with one of their aluminum forks. Top it all off they even sent me the wrong color. Have to say after all the good reviews I saw I can't beleve they dropped the ball like this. Oh well..
Great vid again. It's so cool that you get to go to these places. I actually got to ride a Performer low racer about 3 weeks ago: ruclips.net/video/UfYAtQRR414/видео.html. It has me considering buying one! Although I love my Catrike 700 and Quest velomobile.
I agree with your love of the Catrike brand . I have the 700 and the Pocket . Most of the components are made here but the rest of their trikes are proudly USA made and have won awards because of it . Your choice of Velos is good too.
I agree with Timothy. If you are taking on a few small long trips a month and a bunch of around the neighborhood trips, the Performer will not disappoint. I llove the seat because it molds nicely to your back and gives you the support you need on a ride. I believe its the FRP for Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer.
RUclips has stopped sending me notifications despite being subbed, bell on, all notifications (including posts) selected. This is beyond a annoying now.
Received a Performer trike 4 weeks ago. Still haven't got it on the road yet. A bad weld on the frame, problems with the tie rods, and now a defective front derailleur have set me back. The company faces behind the scenes - Christine and Vanessa - aren't as warm and friendly as George in this video. Awful customer service. No wonder they need dealers as a buffer to their incompetence.
So...I'm very curious. There was virtually no actual video footage of any tri-bikes or, for that matter, any completed bikes. Saw more in depth footage at the restaurant. I'm 71 and looking for tri-bike possibilities. Disappointed! Click-bait!
😂😂 you know what they say Matt.. only people doing less than you complain about what you’re doing. Thank you for the tour of the Performer factory and your journey cheers 🍻
Super fun to see the difference! That guy seems really chill and fun!
My wife and I just purchased two of their trikes...super happy with them.
awesome! good company!
Thanks Matt for taking us to the factory, I love this type of videos, great job.
So cool. I love these factory walk throughs. You can really see his passion shining through. What an awesome dude x
The Performer factory tour is amazing. Just goes to show you, the trikes are growing so popular. Warms my heart.
Brian,,, I ride one around town and I hope that with more off them on the road the bike lanes will accommodate some extra room for trikes and not just bikes, though, I do mostly fit inside them.
I am not that much into bikes , yet I found this one super interesting !!
You have to try ridding one..... it is like driving a Formula One, not that I ever drove a F1....hahaha
Thank you for this video! I've always been an admirer of Performer bikes, and couldn't help to smile throughout the entire episode. I do agree: their designs are really pleasing to the eye, very ellegant and stylished. What a great way to spend the day!!
Great video - nice to see where my JC70 came from!
Nice bikes. Nice food. Nice people.
What's not to like. Great vlog Matt.
Such warmth hospitality. Thumbs Up!

tiger is Matt and duck is part of your family !!! cool .Jayoe !!!
Performer has the best bikes and recumbents.
From inspiration to innovation.
Some days are better than others , when productivity and a great time meet , its a great day.
Nice inside look at these trikes. Thinking of saving up for a JC-70.
That company does beautiful work.

I loved this video it made me feel more comfortable about the quality of my Performer trike.
Taiwan people is always helpful and friendly with people no matter where they come from~~
real skills in manufacturing , have 23 year old two wheeler still strong
Holy carb those steel lugged frame is a real man toy. Thanks for showing this Matt :)
Yes. I'd like to know more about that.
Congratulations on Vlog 600 Matt. Love following your journey around the world!! 😊

Matt is happy!
Now I have to at least look at Performer Trike.
Beautiful machines!
People in Taiwan are the kindest !!
Usa used to have incredible factories like this.
promise i'll buy a performer road bike here in saudi arabia. The boss is not like a boss.....he's a good nice guy. God bless you.
Nice bike, I want one of their trikes.

Yep! sold me just ordered me one jc70 27 speed cant wait to get it florida
Great video Matt !!! Got my jc70 last week. Was fun to see the factory. And I want one of those performer t shirts !!!

Wow!!!! I barely just went over that number in Trike miles...

Great tour! The poor dude at 7:00 needs an auto darkening helmet, though. That's so old school that way! 🤣
A Lovely vlog Jayoe :)
I was so impressed, I ordered one a JC70AL 30's 700c Canada
Please make a video showing how you like it.
Hey Kevin My trike is still in transit...what part of the world are you from ?
+Allan Provost I live in Eugene, Oregon USA. It's a good place for cycling.
Matt should get a sales commision for this.
Would be great to have a review of the performer trikes. Prices were interesting compared to hp and ice trikes.
Love Performer Recumbent Bike.
I took my first ever ride on a recumbent there about 4 years ago. Lovely people for sure and great bikes. At the time they weren’t making the design I wanted but they’re almost there now. I don’t remember subbing to you but good stuff. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Good advertisement for them. They will be busy.
Great video Matt! I have a HP Scorpion FS26 too and a Catrike, but there is nothing in the trike market that even comes close to the value of Performer, they are well made, but literally half the price of the competition. It's cool to see they are nice people too.

it was stone lotus...

Waiting on delivery of my bike from them now :)
Nice insight Matt
Mat can you ask about electric assist trikes in there inventory!
Like to see what they have!
JaYoe!!!! Buddy!
The standard two wheel market in Asia is way over-saturated, it's understandable that their biggest market is trikes and custom units. Wish I could afford to order one from them!... ;P
get one of those lil mics from ebay w/fir cover.
Tell us the man who started/founded performer and what nation heis from. I have riden one, incredible ride. If i was buying it would be Performer.
One day I shall have one ...
good 😍
Matt.. When visiting with George at Performer can you ask how to or would he develop an attachment for side bags Thanks from Canada...
I can show him. But terra cycle set me up with mine. They are pretty good
Ok...Thanks Matt.. Ever happen to travel to Penticton,British Columbia, Canada...be sure to drop in ...
What are your current thoughts Performer Trikes as you decided to go with HP Velo
Wait, this owner is also named George? Both bike manufactuer owners are named George?
I would love to see carbon fiber trikes, unfortunately they would cost quite a bit. Imagine the weight savings. Another great video in the can.
dbkguy performer has a carbon trike on thier website, think its around 4500.
There is also a brand called Carbontrikes that are really nice but as you suspected they are pricey.
dbkguy ...www.carbontrikes.com/se/index.html
Wonder if these guys built my Actionbent trike.
I have a performer jc70 recumbent..
Is it possible to buy directly from Taiwan, performed jc 70 ,I am in UAE and we do not have any shop here
I really like what i see…
The spoke man never spoke. @3:45
Do they have any suspension???
they had some rear suspension models...not sure today.. i know they were intending to develop a full suspension trike
Are they now powder coating?
Have you looked at Cattrike made in America brand. I'm wondering what make one trike better than another
I have an HP, a Catrike and a Terratrike. The Terratrike is cheaper but decent, the HP and Catrike are both really great rides. how much does a trike cost
Depends. There is a wide range. 1500 - 10,000 usd.

@Leopold the sound quality in both sax is so different. i much prefer the Cannonball though
Unfortunately there is no full suspension.
hey matt i like that video but i think i pass on that stuff Ja Yoe matt
I only own Performer recumbents.

Come on Matt we know you're going to buy a new bike....
Hahahah. Naw. I’m an HP guy... for now
ICE Vtx+....the top of line
It's a great trike, but it's built for speed, I would not say it's top of the line for a world tour.
I was referring to the ICE VTX+, it's not really a touring trike. I think properly spec'ed out the Performer JC26 XT would be a good touring machine.

He is welding titanium without using argon? IS HE OUT OF HIS FUCKING MIND? I'd immediately cancel my order on that bike if I saw this video.
