The only problem I had with all about that bass was the fact that the skinny people looked sad and unhappy about their bodies. Being curvy isn’t a bad thing and it should be celebrated because they are beautiful but you can celebrate that without putting other body shapes down.

She’s the stitches of singers. Stitches was an extremely unlikeable rapper, he would rap about selling blow and just being a general crackhead. He’d also rap about rape and weird shit like that. The difference is that at least he’s changed now, he’s a much more humble guy in general, he just wanted to get money to raise his kids, and he raps now about changing his personality for the better and learning from his mistakes. Meghan on the other hand, did not.

I think it was talking about how men view curvyer women sexually and how one doesn't have to give in to a man's sexual desires or try to live up to his fantasies while not feeling guilty about the way your body is shaped.

I liked the song until I found out she said "skinny b*tches". Like do you know how much people have called me/other skinny people a stick cause of our weight? She's so ignorant especially with the anorexia thing. Anorexia is not a choice and it took me 6 months to recover from mine as mine was not that severe but I still lost 60-70 pounds at that time and was always dizzy. It's not fun nor is it a *choice* like the song would have been fine if they changed the lyrics so they didn't degrade skinny people and didn't show a skinny lady in the MV supposedly shaming the thick girls. Like no I actually find thick girls very attractive and I am super skinny. And then the song says "every inch of you is perfect" like hypocritical much?! (Also I like skinny girls too because I am one and personally don't care about your weight if you eat right and aren't obese it's just your body type)
Honestly I am a skinny person, and it’s just as hard to be skinny as it is thick. I have always had backlash for being skinny, and I have tried to become bigger by eating more. It was really hard to accept my body as it is. I have learned that people will just say there opinions and just think out loud! So if a celeb is doing this it just makes it more hard to the people who do have eating disorders and don’t have confidence in their body’s!
This song came out when I was in 8th grade, and I remember my mega conservative homeroom teacher telling our math class that he didn't like the song because of its slightly degrading tone. It literally caused a whole meeting with our grade being told by the teachers that everyone is beautiful, not to care about the opposite gender's opinion, and that it's okay to be skinny just as much as its okay to be fat. Sorry, just a random memory I have😂

Your should listen to Happy Mode by Koyote. It there a part in that sound that sounds just like All About That Bass and Happy Mode 2006 (8 years before her song). Let alone you watch any cutesy kpop video and you can tell that even the video looks like a rip off (though in her defense that’s not illegal and kpop music videos do the same).

When j was younger I really loved this song but I didn’t understand the lyrics, later on when I learned what it meant and j was actually very upset since I used to be very skinny. I’m glad I only found out when I was older and had a little bit more confidence
Well, Meghan has said multiple times that she wasn't trying to bash skinny people and she was quoting her mother. And she literally says "nah I'm just playing"

Not that I’m a fan of Megan Trainor ( I honestly forgot she even existed) but if you’re gonna tear down her lyrics in a song, then you need to make videos on all the other artists who compare heavier girls to thin girls and that put thin girls on a pedestal like this song did for bigger girls.
The only problem I had with all about that bass was the fact that the skinny people looked sad and unhappy about their bodies. Being curvy isn’t a bad thing and it should be celebrated because they are beautiful but you can celebrate that without putting other body shapes down.
She also has another song (don't remember what it's called) where she basically says the "Make me a sammich, bitch!" thing that stereotypical sexist men say, except directed at a guy instead of the other way around. Predictably, no one called her out, even though we all know what would've happened if a male singer said that (especially in a pop song)...
The only thing I like is her song and four songs are "I'm a Lady", "It's all about the bass", "I feel better when I'm dancing", and "Dear husband" those are my guilty pleasure. XD
I dont like her specifically because of her all about that bass song. It was low key a skinny bashing song just by the imagery in the video and the lyrics. The song is about exceptance of your curves which is good. But some lyrics + the imagery was skinny shaming. I'm skinny and yes SKINNY BASHING IS A THING!!!
it really bothers me how people act like only thicker girls get bullied, like hello? my sister would literally try to get me to eat more because when she was younger people would bully her just because she was skinny. and so many people i know tell me im too skinny lol sorry i cant control my metabolism or my body type. sorry this stuff just makes me really heated i didnt mean to offend anyone i just want everyone to love themselves and be healthy

She's from my town and she's kinda rude IRL, but I didn't have a problem with the song. I think she's actually not tearing people down, it's more like she's saying like no one ever feels "thin" enough and addressing that. Even skinny girls (at times) don't feel thin enough, and I think that was the point rather than skinny v. fat.

She’s the stitches of singers. Stitches was an extremely unlikeable rapper, he would rap about selling blow and just being a general crackhead. He’d also rap about rape and weird shit like that. The difference is that at least he’s changed now, he’s a much more humble guy in general, he just wanted to get money to raise his kids, and he raps now about changing his personality for the better and learning from his mistakes. Meghan on the other hand, did not.

I think the girls on that video have more fat and a bit fat yes BUT, that doesn’t make them anywhere near unhealthy, they’re just bigger. You don’t have to be size 2 to be healthy! If they were huge yeah, obese yeah but they look completely fine, normal and healthy. Sometimes I really question those people on earth!🤦🏻♀️

That interview where she made the anorexic comment was misconstrued, because she clearly stated beforehand that as a child she wanted an eating disorder so she would lose weight, it wasn’t whenever she was a full grown adult, because as a child you don’t even know what that is. I feel like people just hate on her because she tackles sensitive topics within her music, but at the same time if it’s such an inconvenience to you, just don’t listen to her music. I don’t agree with people rapping about drugs, but I guess we all can’t get what we want.

So ridiculous, I never thought Megan Trainer was anything anyone disliked or hated. I just thought she was just another person persuing the dream of fame as so many people do. I thought she was portraying a girl living in a fantasy about love and relationships, acceptence, and maybe even fame itself. I don't think "All About that Bass" was is necessary trying to compare smaller and bigger women. I think it was talking about how men view curvyer women sexually and how one doesn't have to give in to a man's sexual desires or try to live up to his fantasies while not feeling guilty about the way your body is shaped.
