some youtubers get stuck in like 2013 or 2014. zoella is a prime example. she has been making the same content for years, and that type of content hasn’t been popular since around 2014. it’s like what shane dawson talked about in his graveyardgirl series. bunny had said she felt like she was trapped in 2014, and so shane and her came to the conclusion that that was one of the main reasons her channel was dying. a similar thing happened with colleen ballinger. her content was not too dissimilar from her older videos, and people stopped watching. her channel started to die. lucky for her, her channel instantly regained popularity when she got pregnant. people just need to change up their content to continue to stay relevant
colleen's channel hasn't really died down, the content she puts out is amazing! It's probably my biased opinion though, love that woman. But I agree with the rest wholeheartedly. I think the last time I watched a Zoella video till the end was in that period, 2013-14, because she and the rest of the classified british youtubers got repetitive and unoriginal. Their original viewers grew up, but they didn't grow with them, and the younger generation just aren't really interested in them

I feel like the older yourubers besides Shane all focused more on the number of subscribers rather than the views, their content didn’t change in almost 10 years . Shane Dawson stayed relevant in his content for his audiences and that shows in how much people love and engage with him . Today , engagement rate is more important than having a lot of subscribers that never watch your videos .

Astrid-Marie Schwarz i didn't say that i hated her, i had a genuine interest in their videos up until that point, and when you're 6 hours on a bus away from home in a new place you do want to follow your mates and stick together, we didn't stay the 2 hours because that would have been idiotic. We left not long after and the disgusting looks we got off them weren't needed at all. We spoke to a mother who's children were wanting to meet them and Alfie told them "he didn't have time for them", which yes fair enough, you're having a mini holiday/break, maybe you are busy. But to advertise yourself on social media showing your whereabouts you cannot be surprised when people recognise you. As for replying to anymore comments, I won't be unless I seem it necessary but the last thing I want is people putting words in my mouth, even if I didn't give the best description of what happened. Zoe however appears very much a 'mean girl' who really resents her fans! Her greed knows no bounds and she'll stick her name on anything to make money. She flaunts her opulent lifestyle and has zero respect for the people that got her there. That's my two cents anyhow!

She was one of the biggest creators on the early days of RUclips. She was so iconic and big back in those days but they are over, she's irrelevant and boring now. Even then the only thing was her personality and her teen fan base that kept her forward, her content has always seemed boring and tiresome to me.

The British RUclips time was years ago, tbh no one watches favourites or baking videos any more. People like Alfie,Joe Sugg, Caspar Lee, Tanya Burr, Jim Chapman etc. There highest point was like 2012-2014 and I feel like none of them are aware RUclips is so different now. I don't even thunk zoella wants to do RUclips any more . She's got all the money she needs now and she clearly dies not enjoy making videos anymore . She never really uploads anymore and most videos are just with her best friend. She's nearly 30 and now I think she just can't be bothered and wants to focus on marriage and kids. As for her audience, most of her viewers were young girls and started watching her years ago and now realise she is repetitive,boring and no longer relatable and have grown out of her. No one can relate to her being a multi millionaire and living in her mansion. In my schools it's considered embarrassing to like zoella. I mean if you compare zoella to other youtubers like Emma chamberlain for example, you can quickly tell who would be more entertaining to watch . I dont even think she cares, I think she's happy with her life now and wants a semi normal life now and is fed up of her job .Soon all the OG british youtubers will just quit in my opinion

You will usually ALWAYS get less views than subscribers you have. Look at Pewdiepie. He has over 60 million subscribers but doesn’t get nearly that many views, but he’s still doing very well. Shane is getting a lot of views because he brings in other popular youtubers & tries to “solve” drama.
the difference between pewds and zoella, is that pewds can get one million views in a couple of hours and zoella sometimes fails to get one million views in a month

But I think she’s cashing in through her subscribers, which is working for her sake and her personal gain. She is in it for the money and it is working for her, she is getting richer.

It's the same for a lot of older youtubers though. A lot of people make new accounts or leave accounts so there are probably tons of inactive accounts. I used to watch Zoella religiously, follow her on every social media, stay loyal to her uploads, spend every penny i had on her products, and for years they appeared on every birthday and christmas list, i used to be a huge, huge fan of Zoella and it saddens me that for some reason I feel like she just changed, i feel like she changed entirely as a person into this just annoying celebrity that I know longer find my self able to relate my self to her, but as she changed she just left her channel behind really and we’ve all seen her care less and less about it over the years.and isn’t watchable anymore, i find her videos boring, repetitive and a chore to watch. I feel that youtube was in its prime in 2013, I was 12 then and a very impressionable preteen girl, now i’m going on 17, i’ve done my GCSE’s, i’m moving onto college, i don’t have time for her videos, but i still watch other channels, recently i have been drawn to channels that feature a lot of you tubers that DONT GIVE A SHIT about being de monetised because they love their videos and their fans- I’ve grown up a lot, she’s grown up a lot, but seems like she left her channel in 2013 tbh, for me she stopped becoming relevant in 2016. And also have you noticed she makes literally ZERO effort to meet her fans?! The celebrity life and fame has gotten to her and changed her for the worse. RUclipsr scandal is nothing new, even perfectly fine ones will be targeted by the media, its the way she handles it. In a childish, playing a victim type way. I mean she's 28. I think a good example is Felix/pewdiepie. He is the same age and I know they have different content but you can still mature while keeping it PG. Even the whole ghost-writer thing. I don't even mind, like it's nothing new, books being written by ghost writers. When someone like her gets offered a book deal it's the opposite way round. Like if someone who has talent in writing makes a piece of literature they go to a company and the book will be published and promoted because it's good. But the reason a celebrity or youtuber will be offered a deal is because they already have a good demograhic. Like say someone has 1million subscribers, even if only half of that, heck even a quater buy the book then thats already a 250,000 sales before they even promote the book. So it makes sense to reach out to a Ghost-writer so that they make good sales and the youtuber can bring out a product and give back to their fans a liitle bit. I'm not mad at that, it's a great business model. If she actually adressed it then it wouldnt even be a scandal because honestly I don't see it as wrong of her to try and make sure her fans have a book they enjoy, because she's not getting this book offer out of her talent it's because she has a following and given that she has the oppotinuty to bring our a product, why do it on her own with no writing experience when she can think about her fan-base and try to give back. But after this "controversy" all she did was hide and quiver. I understand the fact she has anxiety but she's acting more in a way a toddler would rather than someone with anxiety, let alone a 28 year old woman with anxiety. And now she's where she is it's hard to tell if she'll mature because they have too much money and success that they've lost touch with humanity. Like look at Alfie's one-pound video. When I was 12 all my friends were watching her content. I personally didn't like her videos, and while all of my friends were reading her books and following her DIY tutorials, I started reading books like the Harry Potter series. Like you said in this video, zoella hasn't changed her content in years, and so my friends who loved her grew up, developed strong passions for makeup, and now they watch James Charles and other beauty gurus instead of her.

Shane is one of my favorite RUclipsrs at the moment and he creates all the time very interesting and funny videos. You can see that he is trying a lot for his channel and people appreciate it. I agree Zoella has not changed her video style for ages and she doesn't try anything different. However other beauty channels, like Nikkie Tutorials has around 10M subscribers and she also gets approximately 1M views per video. So it also depends for which audience your videos are.

It’s not edited, it’s not rehearsed (obviously you need to have some form of a script but I mean you don’t do it over and over to be pitch perfect), your not afraid to keep in the slip ups or fact checks and the opinion in your voice about what your saying is clear to see. This is so true. I was such a huge youtube fan back between 2011-2014 when I was in high school, and zoella was one of my favourites. However, although I'm still subscribed, I can't say I've watched more than 1 or 2 of her videos in the last three years, and I always ended up clicking off after a few minutes. Like you said, her content didn't change to match her audience growing older. I simply lost interest.

I don't think some of the videos the most popular youtubers do, are considered original content. Epsecially makeup gurus, they are used to following the youtube trends. For example, it was popular back then 'doing my ....... makeup' or 'only........challenge' to these days with 'doing my makeup in....... ' or 'copying.......'s makeup'. Wouldn't say they are coming up with the most original content. But it's just my opinion, I'm not defending or attacking anyone.
The reason Shane has stayed so successful is because of the effort he puts into all his content he comes up with original ideas and takes time to edit the videos. He doesn’t just sit in front of a camera and haul some candles and shower gel for 13 minutes.

Astrid-Marie Schwarz i didn't say that i hated her, i had a genuine interest in their videos up until that point, and when you're 6 hours on a bus away from home in a new place you do want to follow your mates and stick together, we didn't stay the 2 hours because that would have been idiotic. We left not long after and the disgusting looks we got off them weren't needed at all. We spoke to a mother who's children were wanting to meet them and Alfie told them "he didn't have time for them", which yes fair enough, you're having a mini holiday/break, maybe you are busy. But to advertise yourself on social media showing your whereabouts you cannot be surprised when people recognise you. As for replying to anymore comments, I won't be unless I seem it necessary but the last thing I want is people putting words in my mouth, even if I didn't give the best description of what happened. I'm not entirely sure if your comment was meant as a constructive comment which was meant for me to give some more context or just attempting to be rude. Have a good day though x
myprettygirl Don't worry ahahaha we didn't stay, we had our photography cameras and got a few good sneaky ones of them (sounds weird i know but i bet The Sun would love them if I sent them in😂😂) and sent them to a mother who's children were told they "didn't have time for" via email. Her children had all of their merch and I MEAN ALL (it was a little scary bless them) and they were on the ice rink where they were trying to catch them up, they left in tears and we just wanted to do something for them to make them feel a little better.

The British RUclips time was years ago, tbh no one watches favourites or baking videos any more. People like Alfie,Joe Sugg, Caspar Lee, Tanya Burr, Jim Chapman etc. There highest point was like 2012-2014 and I feel like none of them are aware RUclips is so different now. I don't even thunk zoella wants to do RUclips any more . She's got all the money she needs now and she clearly dies not enjoy making videos anymore . She never really uploads anymore and most videos are just with her best friend. She's nearly 30 and now I think she just can't be bothered and wants to focus on marriage and kids. As for her audience, most of her viewers were young girls and started watching her years ago and now realise she is repetitive,boring and no longer relatable and have grown out of her. No one can relate to her being a multi millionaire and living in her mansion. In my schools it's considered embarrassing to like zoella. I mean if you compare zoella to other youtubers like Emma chamberlain for example, you can quickly tell who would be more entertaining to watch . I dont even think she cares, I think she's happy with her life now and wants a semi normal life now and is fed up of her job .Soon all the OG british youtubers will just quit in my opinion

I used to watch Zoella religiously, follow her on every social media, stay loyal to her uploads, spend every penny i had on her products, and for years they appeared on every birthday and christmas list, i used to be a huge, huge fan of Zoella and it saddens me that for some reason I feel like she just changed, i feel like she changed entirely as a person into this just annoying celebrity that I know longer find my self able to relate my self to her, but as she changed she just left her channel behind really and we’ve all seen her care less and less about it over the years.and isn’t watchable anymore, i find her videos boring, repetitive and a chore to watch. She used to be this relatable ‘girl next door’ and now she just seems snobby and annoying now. She literally just isn’t the same, and people change throughout their lives and it’s very normal, but some people change for the better and clearly she hasn’t. I un-subscribed to her MONTHS ago and she is no longer a part of my youtube life really. I feel that youtube was in its prime in 2013, I was 12 then and a very impressionable preteen girl, now i’m going on 17, i’ve done my GCSE’s, i’m moving onto college, i don’t have time for her videos, but i still watch other channels, recently i have been drawn to channels that feature a lot of you tubers that DONT GIVE A SHIT about being de monetised because they love their videos and their fans- I’ve grown up a lot, she’s grown up a lot, but seems like she left her channel in 2013 tbh, for me she stopped becoming relevant in 2016. And also have you noticed she makes literally ZERO effort to meet her fans?! The celebrity life and fame has gotten to her and changed her for the worse. RUclipsr scandal is nothing new, even perfectly fine ones will be targeted by the media, its the way she handles it. In a childish, playing a victim type way. I mean she's 28. I think a good example is Felix/pewdiepie. He is the same age and I know they have different content but you can still mature while keeping it PG. Even the whole ghost-writer thing. I don't even mind, like it's nothing new, books being written by ghost writers. When someone like her gets offered a book deal it's the opposite way round. Like if someone who has talent in writing makes a piece of literature they go to a company and the book will be published and promoted because it's good. But the reason a celebrity or youtuber will be offered a deal is because they already have a good demograhic. Like say someone has 1million subscribers, even if only half of that, heck even a quater buy the book then thats already a 250,000 sales before they even promote the book. So it makes sense to reach out to a Ghost-writer so that they make good sales and the youtuber can bring out a product and give back to their fans a liitle bit. I'm not mad at that, it's a great business model. If she actually adressed it then it wouldnt even be a scandal because honestly I don't see it as wrong of her to try and make sure her fans have a book they enjoy, because she's not getting this book offer out of her talent it's because she has a following and given that she has the oppotinuty to bring our a product, why do it on her own with no writing experience when she can think about her fan-base and try to give back. But after this "controversy" all she did was hide and quiver. I understand the fact she has anxiety but she's acting more in a way a toddler would rather than someone with anxiety, let alone a 28 year old woman with anxiety. And now she's where she is it's hard to tell if she'll mature because they have too much money and success that they've lost touch with humanity. Like look at Alfie's one-pound video. That lays out exactly theyre thoughts and life. They aren't bad people, they're just snobs.

When I was 12 all my friends were watching her content. I personally didn't like her videos, and while all of my friends were reading her books and following her DIY tutorials, I started reading books like the Harry Potter series.
Like you said in this video, zoella hasn't changed her content in years, and so my friends who loved her grew up, developed strong passions for makeup, and now they watch James Charles and other beauty gurus instead of her.

Shane is one of my favorite RUclipsrs at the moment and he creates all the time very interesting and funny videos. You can see that he is trying a lot for his channel and people appreciate it. I agree Zoella has not changed her video style for ages and she doesn't try anything different. However other beauty channels, like Nikkie Tutorials has around 10M subscribers and she also gets approximately 1M views per video. So it also depends for which audience your videos are.

This is so true. I was such a huge youtube fan back between 2011-2014 when I was in high school, and zoella was one of my favourites. However, although I'm still subscribed, I can't say I've watched more than 1 or 2 of her videos in the last three years, and I always ended up clicking off after a few minutes. Like you said, her content didn't change to match her audience growing older. I simply lost interest.

I don't think some of the videos the most popular youtubers do, are considered original content. Epsecially makeup gurus, they are used to following the youtube trends. For example, it was popular back then 'doing my ....... makeup' or 'only........challenge' to these days with 'doing my makeup in....... ' or 'copying.......'s makeup'. Wouldn't say they are coming up with the most original content. But it's just my opinion, I'm not defending or attacking anyone.

The reason Shane has stayed so successful is because of the effort he puts into all his content he comes up with original ideas and takes time to edit the videos. He doesn’t just sit in front of a camera and haul some candles and shower gel for 13 minutes.
