hey all, just a few things to note (see description for full details): apologies for mispronunciations and the high-volume section in the middle which slipped through the editing net (currently do not have the storage space to resave and reupload) - I’ll fix all of this for the bonus anniversary edition next year 💕 thanks for watching!!
I am bring that places back it was Hunting childhood I grow attached to it and I am still crying hard for it still your video is keeping my dream childhood goal alive thank you for doing this video its making my day
The three pipes thing was about relative sense of touch. You'd hold one hot pipe and one cold one, then put both hands on the center pipe which was room temperature, and it felt really weird because one hand felt it as warm and the other felt it as cold at the same time, and they're right next to each other. The parks back then had so many tactile things for kids, you felt like you did something that day, not just passively had experiences in ride cars, and even those felt like adventures with all the theming and intros. I never minded waiting 40 minutes for Star Tours because I'm waiting IN the Star Wars world, C3PO is right there talking to me next to a full size X wing with smoke effects and moving parts. The best was the play area in Journey Into Imagination, though, which had a more artistic theme of colors and sounds and was less about pure education than new experiences and inspiration. I always loved the whole Body Wars pavilion (nobody ever called it Wonders of Life), we'd usually hit it in the way out of the park and chill out there doing activities either until we left for the day or until the fireworks show was starting. The ride itself I loved because of the movie Innerspace, I had a fascination with the whole concept and I never had any motion problems. I found a fun free VR program many years ago called InCell or InMind, and it's a basic look around and point shooting education game that's very reminiscent of the Body Wars experience, intentionally so, and if you have even a phone VR headset and want to feel what it was like, give that a go. Except for the motion part, it's very close.
That’s great to know. It was particularly hard to find any info on the pipes, so thank you for shedding some light! Glad to hear you enjoyed the pavilion and hope this video brought back some good memories!✨
It's fascinating seeing all the pavilions on this side of EPCOT that are either unrecognizable, or completely gone. Weirdly, "Wonders of Life" just continues to sit there. Pretty obvious that Disney just can't QUITE decide what to do with it... It's a striking pavilion, but with Disney's new push to add IP to everything, will it have an educational aspect at all? Or will they turn it into yet another DVC resort?
This is so interesting! I can see how years ago this was very on brand for Disney, there was so much thought in the story telling and theming of this area, however as you pointed out …it just hasn’t aged well and no longer appeals to the modern guest. ✨
This was one of our favorite buildings, and we were excited to go back into it for our first Food and Wine festival trip years ago (‘18?). We figure it must have some sort of structural issues since they don’t use it as event space.
Interestingly, there has been some external works over the past few years (including what looks like panel replacement) but my guess is that’s being done just to keep the structure up to standards :)
Awesome video!!! I just knew there was a giant empty building there, so it’s fun to learn the history behind it!! Well put together video, and very entertaining:D
Wonders of Life was one of my favorite pavillions in the 90s, along with Innovations. One thing to note about that time, most tourists would purchase tickets for all 3 parks. And those who chose to do only one park, often went to either Magic Kingdom or EPCoT. So I am not sure if choosing Star Tours over Body Wars would have contibuted much. But who knows. I do remember that it was often a very low line for all the attractions in the pavillion. So it could have simply been a traffic problem. They could no longer justify the overhead since the crowds were going to Innovations, The Land, The Seas, and World Showcase.
Great insight, thank you for sharing! It’s a little tough to find visitor stats for the 90s so that’s good to consider. It was really exciting to find the clip of the opening day queue for Body Wars, as it countered the narrative that the pavilion had always been unpopular! Did you have a favourite part of the pavilion?
Long time rider. Once Disney started telling riders to only look straight ahead - the riders are getting less sick. Still it's a scary way to find out you have an undiagnosed heart condition. Seriously the claustrophobic properties and not looking side to side while it's running accurately recreate the space exploration training experience and that's impressive for a theme park in central Florida.
I have an idea for an attraction that would take inspiration from body wars, and adventures through inner space. It would use the same ride system as test track to take guests to the center of a cell.

Went there several times while it was open, the body wars ride was always so exciting as a kid!
I must have been there two or three times but the only thing I remember is the temperature pipes!
I hope they find Buzzy. Dreading did a really good video pertaining to that case, and they showed the police interrogation video and its too funny

Very well done video. I subscribed and look forward to more from you. Thank you for your hard work on this!
If I had a Time Machine I’d travel to the Wonders of Life Pavilion!

Thank you for your kind words!! It’s SUCH an interesting building and I’ve got really high hopes for it, so glad you were able to learn about it!✨
I used to work in there and was able to get in that middle part of the roof at one point. It was a great place back in the day
That’s SO cool!!

I loved Cranium Command & Body Wars back in the day.
this looks like a place youd go to on a school fieldtrip, and feel dumb being at, but at least you werent in school
This was my favorite place as a kid. Body w*rs was amazing.

I remember body wars having full lines until at least the mid to late 90s or maybe even the early 2000s.
My mom rode body wars. She said her and her group got very sick when they got off the ride.
I miss WoL horizons and world of motion.
New WoL video essay we're eating good 2nite
