In 1993 Morey Boogie did an Australian clinic tour with a bunch of pro bodyboarders, including Mike. I was a grom out surfing at a beachie after the clinic and Mike paddled out. It was in between sets and we're all just floating there and then all of a sudden Mike starts paddling quite hard off to the right. I couldn't understand what he was doing. He's like 20 or 30m away and then out of nowhere this perfect A frame just pops up, he was in perfect position, pulls in, effortlessly gets barreled. I was stunned. I had no idea what he saw in the ocean that the rest of of didn't, including other pros. Simply superior ocean knowledge.

Got lucky a few times bodyboarding my favorite home break where it was just me and Mike out. Was a teenager at the time and will never forget it.
