The settlement has 4 large buildings that light up at night, and there is also a modern city market, DM, ATMs, hair salons, 2 bars, lots of parking spaces, lots of cafes, the building is under video surveillance 24/7. Interesting and different) - There are many more, but these are one of the best (you've already been to BBI, so you already know what it looks like) As for hotels, the best hotels for you are Hills, Marriot, Residence, Malak, Holiday, Swissotel, Europa, Bristol and Rotana, first Forester In addition to trams, you can also use trolleybuses, buses, minibuses, electric scooters, bicycles, taxis and rent a cars. You must also visit Vrelo Bosne, the tunnel of salvation, the National Museum, the Avaz tower, the national theater As for restaurants, be sure to go to "Brajlović", located on Ilidža, "near Kibet", located in the Old Town, "Chipas", they have two locations, one next to the cathedral, the other is in the city part of the city, but very very they have a nice building, New York and London style, especially nice for the New Year, "Dragon" in Hrasno... Very nice and comprehensive video showing this beautiful city! One of the best on RUclips. Thank you! Maybe just to clarify that the Austro-Hungarian Empire occupied Bosnia in 1878, following the Congress of Berlin and formally annexed in 1908. The process of Ottoman withdrawal from the Balkans is messy and complicated, with lots of national independence struggles/conflicts/wars mixed in with an unhealthy dose of Great Power geostrategic competition. It's maybe a bit reductive to suggest that they were pushed out by the Austro-Hungarians. For a great beginners overview of this amazing and fascinating region, I would recommend Misha Glenny's "The Balkans".
Thank you!! Very happy you have enjoyed it! It's definitely reductive to explain it how we did, but we wanted to keep it as simple as possible! Hopefully people seeking to learn more about the history, which is far more complex than we could put in a video this short, will find your comment! :) Thanks again!

Sorry for our delayed reply! We have been on a bit of a hiatus! SO happy to hear you also enjoyed Sarajevo and found our video helpful!! Will you be posting a vlog from there too? Would love to check it out!
An interesting and thoughtful video. The war was brutal. I don't know what it would be like to have something like that happen to your home, but my heart goes out to the Bosnian people. I was teaching English to adults in Vancouver in the early nineties, so some of the refugees joined my class. I heard some harrowing stories. This is the conflict where they first used the term "ethnic cleansing," which is a translation from one of the Balkan languages. It's wonderful to see that Bosnia is recovering, but sad to see so many wars continuing, and the term that shocked us in the nineties become part of the global lingua franca.
Thank you. We're glad you found it interesting! The war was horrific, we can't imagine how horrible it must have been to experience it. I actually did not know that is where the term arose - however it makes sense given what happened. Bosnia seems to be doing pretty well now, but I agree. The war was in mind, but people seemed generally happy and welcoming. I completely agree, it's a shame that similar conflicts continue around the world and that humanity has not yet grown out of these types of issues. :(
Really very informative and beautiful video. You both looks so gorgeous. One question please? Is there any tram and metro service from Airport to city centre and get around city centre? Well done and keep it up. Loads of love x
Hi! I do believe there is a bus service that runs, though I’m not sure how often! In the city center there are trams and buses for sure though! Most of the old town is quite walkable once you get there though. :)
Thank you so much!! I see you guys make videos as well, do you also have an instagram? I love following and keeping in touch with other travel video creators!
There ia another way to reach the cable car without long stairs. Go by taxi to main entrance through mountains and you will be facing the entrance from the back.
There is an interesting Anegdote about Pigeon Square: Few years after the war, all the coffe shop owners and small businesses and bazars ordered from city mayor to take care about the Pigeon's in this area because they dropping their business all over the place. So the Pigeon's must leave. The mayor took care of it by installing a kind of disturbing sound wave frequency device on the nearby building. And it had effect, the Pigeon's where gone. Everyone was happy but not for long time. The atmosphere of the place has disappeared and part of tourist's kinda too. At least they didn't stay there for to long. So after a year, the business owners requested to take down the device in hope the Pigeon's come back to the old place. And they did. They conquered their lands again in full glory. Everyone was happy again. They also feed the Pigeon's every morning.
Had no idea about that!! I understand not wanting a bunch of pigeons, but they really did liven up the square.. so I was happy to have them there! Thanks for sharing this story!!
Love the style of this travel video. The audio is so clear even you are not wearing any lav mics. Can i ask which mic did you use on the camera? Subscribed:)
A debated theory, but there was an important place called Vrhbosna (High Bosnia, Peak of Bosnia) in that area. Ottomans probably just renamed it and claimed they founded it. They tried to reset the country by erasing its medieval culture, destroyed castles, documents, etc. and renamed a bunch of places.
thats an awesome little bit of extra (possible!) history! Definitely going to read more about this. Thank you for sharing it with us! And definitely not surprising, I feel like theme empires that come through make so many changes through time that it can be easy to lose parts of history!
Turkey, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, if you choose a country to travel to, where do you recommend ? I'm really confused about where I should go on vacation
We have not been to Serbia yet, so we can’t speak for that, but I think it depends on what you want to see! Turkey is larger and more varied because of it. We spent time in Istanbul which has a rich and long history, the city is massive, lots of options and things to do. It’s right on the ocean which is cool too! Bosnia is smaller and has the smaller city feel, also rich in history but more emphasis on recent. It combines the ottoman and Eastern European/Balkan influences which is best. Sarajevo has beautiful mountains and rivers nearby. Either way I don’t think you can go wrong, I think it would just depend on the amount of time you have and what you want to see!
I visit Bosnia because of Mountains and Rivers and really dislike big cities because my job in the States took me just about every major city in US really got tired of big cities. I would love to visit the famous Village in Bosnia called “ Lukomir “ it’s not very far from Sarajevo
Don't blame you for getting sick of the big cities! Bosnia is gorgeous! On our next visit we will have to see if we can make it to your village - it sounds lovely!! Also, sorry for our delayed response! We have been away/offline visiting family!
I was horrified when you said he was assassinated on the bridge. But am glad you corrected yourself. His car had to slow down when taking a turn (by the museum), that's when Gavrilo Pricip shot the Archduke and his wife.
Yeah that was our bad! 🙈 we had read that it was on the bridge online, but of course that info was incorrect!! We didn’t know it was because the car slowed down, but that makes sense. Thanks for sharing that bit of information!
18:50 that sign says "Caution: Collapsing structure" referring to the roof edge or walls above which is kinda janky looking. That's what the lady was probably warning you guys about, but I assume she didn't speak the language. I'm a local Bosnian from the City of Tuzla. Just Trying to help you guys out a bit ;) If Y'all are ever in the neighborhood, lemme know :D

Hi! Just want to address something you said around the 8th minute: a building with visible signs from the war in Bosnia is not an "aesthetic". Bosnia is still developing as a nation and it will take time for even the visible wounds to fade. Please be mindful of the terms you use to describe such sensitive things.
Hi there! Sorry if that came off the wrong way, it wasn’t what we intended (and clarify on this further into the video). They did opt to keep some of the scars of war though, for example, the Sarajevo roses, to keep the memory of what happened and how people were affected alive. Apologies if we worded it poorly.
Beautiful country with rich history. Bosnia has oldest piramid in the world. Five piramid in the city Visoko. Only contry in Evrope who has stone call stecak.Bosnia has best river in evrope then nice homountain. Olso has wild horse at mountain cincar near city livno.Bosnia has best old vilage lukomir over se high 1000 meters.Bosnia has genocid cementary and memorial centar in Stebrenica itditditd.

- WestGate (a large shopping center where you can find everything you want. It is located at the very exit from the city at the location Mostarsko razkršće, Western exit from the city)
- OBI (home and garden center. Interesting and different)
- There are many more, but these are one of the best (you've already been to BBI, so you already know what it looks like)
As for hotels, the best hotels for you are Hills, Marriot, Residence, Malak, Holiday, Swissotel, Europa, Bristol and Rotana, first Forester
In addition to trams, you can also use trolleybuses, buses, minibuses, electric scooters, bicycles, taxis and rent a cars.
You must also visit Vrelo Bosne, the tunnel of salvation, the National Museum, the Avaz tower, the national theater
As for restaurants, be sure to go to "Brajlović", located on Ilidža, "near Kibet", located in the Old Town, "Chipas", they have two locations, one next to the cathedral, the other is in the city part of the city, but very very they have a nice building, New York and London style, especially nice for the New Year, "Dragon" in Hrasno...
Greetings from Sarajevo ♥️🇧🇦🥰🏙️🌃
For sure!! We didn’t nearly cover the whole city in this video, so thank you so much for this list of tips!! I hope someone watching this sees them!! Next time we visit we’ll definitely be using this!! 😃
@@IfWeGoTo See you soon in Sarajevo again. WELCOME ALWAYS
PS: But the advice is not to come in winter because of the heavy fog that traps the city. Except for holidays, when the ambiance and atmosphere are beautiful. The best period is summer and during the Sarajevo Film Festival
♥️ ✨Good night from Sarajevo ✨ 🌍
Ahh thank you! Definitely will keep that in mind! Have a great night!

07:26 That's Eiffel bridge. Gustavo Eiffel designed this brige, same man who designed and build Eiffel tower in Paris. And yall guys next time should visite Sarajevo Film Festival and Vrelo Bosne near airport
I had no idea! Super cool! We’ll definitely read on that more.
That would be awesome! What time of year is the film festival usually??

Thank you so much for this video. My Parents are from Bosnia, not from Sarajevo, but i miss sarajevo. I hope to be there soon.
Greetings from Germany
Thank you for watching. It is such a beautiful country and has wonderful people. I hope you get to make it there soon!!
Thanks again!
Just about to start exploring Sarajevo myself and your video is a great inspiration starting point 🙏🏼

A very good production from two highly empathetic individuals. Word of warning to you both. Your not made for confrontation.
Thank you, happy to hear you enjoyed it!
You’re right, we hate confrontation!
@@IfWeGoTo So what would you do if you were Sarajevo born and the siege came on once again. Would you fight to preserve your city and people?
@@IfWeGoTo Everyone hates confrontation but as the prophet said. You are prescribed to fight even though you may not like it.
@australiaprisonisland9156 I think it’s so hard to say how we’d actually act when put into that situation. I guess it would depend on why a siege occurred and what your options were…
Great Video. You guys look so genuine ❤
Thank you so much!! 😊
There is also a pyramid in visoko bosnia, you guys should check it out!
On our next visit we definitely will!!! Hadn't heard about it until you told us! Thank you! :D

Lovely video and lovely channel !! We just came back from travelling and filming in Sarajevo and your itinerary was so nice! ☺️
I Went first time,in Bosnia this year,it's brilliant place
So happy to hear you got to visit and also enjoyed it!! 😊
@@IfWeGoTo Thank you so much x

There ia another way to reach the cable car without long stairs. Go by taxi to main entrance through mountains and you will be facing the entrance from the back.
@@EimanAlhassan-k1x thank you for sharing this helpful tip! 🙏😊
The most amazing city in Europe from my point view
It is really fantastic!!
There is an interesting Anegdote about Pigeon Square:
Few years after the war, all the coffe shop owners and small businesses and bazars ordered from city mayor to take care about the Pigeon's in this area because they dropping their business all over the place.
Thanks for sharing this story!!

i enjoyed it.
Thank you so much, it makes us so happy that you enjoyed it!!
When you said you dont like haggling, i felt that. I just pay and go 😂
Hahaha glad to hear I am not the only one!! It's so uncomfortable to haggle!!
@@IfWeGoTo Thank you for your very long reply,!!I will think about it. Looking forward to your next video!

Hvala!!
In which hotel.did u stayed? And did you two used a rent car or used the Trains?
Hi! We stayed at an Airbnb in the city. We only walked, took the trains, or taxis/uber.

Oh we would love to!!
18:50 that sign says "Caution: Collapsing structure" referring to the roof edge or walls above which is kinda janky looking.
That's what the lady was probably warning you guys about, but I assume she didn't speak the language.
I'm a local Bosnian from the City of Tuzla.
Just Trying to help you guys out a bit ;)
If Y'all are ever in the neighborhood, lemme know :D
Ohh, thank you for sharing!! Glad she tried to warn us!! And I greatly appreciate you letting us know!
So cool to be from Bosnia, it is so beautiful! There is a small chance we may end up that way, we are currently in Greece and moving North! Will definitely keep in touch! :)
❤❤❤❤
Thank you!!
