Filming aerial firefighters on the Post Fire

- In behind-the-scenes episode 13, we go to film the first big fire of the 2024 season in California. Our goal is to film the aerial firefighters we’re following from the ground, but it’s not as easy as you might think. In fact, it’s one of the biggest challenges for this project.
If you’re new here, this - what you’re watching now on RUclips - is not our end goal. It’s the journey to make the real documentary. Filming a project like this is logistically challenging, so it will take a long time to make it. We're a small team on a mission to make a docuseries about aerial firefighters. We have a lot of passion, some cool cameras, and an unhealthy amount of coffee. ☕️
We are sharing our behind-the-scenes journey to help raise awareness and eventually to help cover our costs and build the audience for the main attraction. If you’re just interested in the final product, this video’s probably not for you. I’d recommend coming back in the future. I promise we’ll get to more aerial firefighting, but this is very much a behind-the-scenes episode about the highs and lows of filming such a difficult topic.
If you’d like to help us reach our goal, you can do three simple things. It might sound dumb, but subscribing to this channel is a small action for you, but a big leap for our channel. Two, share it with a friend and ask them to do the same. Three, watch the videos. Well, you don’t have to “watch” them… You can play them in the background on mute! The algorithm won’t know ;) Watch Hours tells the RUclips algorithm to push out our content and helps us get closer to monetizing which can help bring in a little income to cover the costs. Thanks for watching!!

Great Video. Well done❤
If you're following Porterville aircraft and want to get drop video, you should come sit in Kern County for a couple of days, they're assigned here to an incident or two weekly.
Great tip!! Thank you. Do you film fire in Kern County?
I shoot photos for the local departments. I've tried to respond twice, but I think youtube is deleting my messages because I had my Instagram page listed. If you do decide to come to Bakersfield, let me know, I can recommend an RV park that is centrally located and has nearby freeway access.
thank you! You can try messaging us on Instagram too. That might be easier. Same handle!
Post, Vista, Lake fires, you guys have to be hopping right now! Talk about feast or famine! Keep up the great work, and BE CAREFUL!!!
It’s been busy is an understatement!
I use to live by Mc clellan air base in Sacramento Calif you guys been there the big tankers fly out of there cal fire and us forest service it gets real busy for all over California
Thanks for watching! Yeah that’s a huge base. We filmed training there earlier this year. You can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/4x54VONS28E/видео.htmlsi=SVPULvaaFfmSR-UJ
I thought I heard South African in his voice, but the 'lamb chops, boerewors and beer' cemented it 3:00
Ding ding!! You called it 😂
I would have a little more PPE than just a safety vest out there.
Copy
Some "authorities" won't let you in without proper PPE. Depends.

Great video!! I would’ve gone but I was out of town. We still get a lot in kern tho.
I would have gone but I had to be at WORK! Darn them! There's a decent fire going and THEY expect me to be at work doing THAT sh*t!!!!
Thanks for watching! I’m sure we’ll land in Kern at some point. Maybe we’ll see you there!!
You guys have awesome content, however it seems the color grading is far off. It appears it’s uploaded straight from the raw data from the red. Not sure if that’s what you guys are going for, just thought I’d let you know just in case you didn’t realize.
Keep up the good work
Hey, thank you! This is just rough behind-the-scenes videos to push out content. The final product which we will hopefully only publish next year will be polished.
Looks good! But lose the slo-mo effect. Just film them straight. Much better.
Thanks for watching!
Cool video, the footage appeared a little on the dark side? I turned up the brightness on my Mac book and it didn't help? Just saying
Noted! Thanks
Ya,I watched a couple of the vids about a month ago. Found the content to be very interesting but felt like I was watching thru dark tinted windows and that somehow made it difficult to watch more. I don’t understand why or how but the dark tint just does’t work for me.
Well done guys ❤
The YT Algorithm better make this project destination for "Nature", "Discovery", Nat Geo, PBS, BBC, and CNN so that you receive the Peabody, Pulitzer, and Snowmass Film Festival award recognition. You are both all vested in. I binged. I liked. I favorites. I read every comment. I gleaned what I could. The high resolution 4K is obviously on all the clouds backed up raw. So in the can and this is all trailer for the enormously polished docuseries. I have thousands of ideas. My family survived the 2007 Rice Canyon Wildfire of Pala Mesa. Saw how the Sun Copter Erickson Sky Crane Silkorsky 65 came about for SDGE after we sued. Thanks for also recognition to all of the hot shots, the ground spotters, the Base Camp logistics, the lead pilots, and the Scoopers. The advances of Coulson, Evergreen, and every Heliport like in Calabasas. The lost Sisters and Brothers of all the Firefighting Brigades. The Carded pilots and carded aircraft and every lost pumper or brush truck. To the inmates that risk their lives in 1000 ° plus Temps when they have no escape from being in the big box. The snag or stump that makes a widow maker. Aerial Fire Fighting Aircrafts is not children playing with fire. This makes communities mourn and grieve for the loss of the friends, families, livestock and pets and forests and grasslands. The loss of the chaparral. So then the climate and arsonists must be dealt with comment. My hope is that all issues and players are adequately portrayed. Be safe. Always have two escape routes. These heroes do not have a choice to say maybe we will not film today. These professionals have a call to duty. The DC10, the L 11011, the Supertanker 747. They used to drop red mud. So tell the real story of Amentum contracted to Cal Fire. The profiteering of private forest preserve for offsetting big carbon foot print polluters. More than one person thinks the forests needs raking with a Pulaski. Stay tuned is an unstatement Batman. Thank God for advances in Drones, FLIR, Nightvision, HUD, and Garmin and Honeywell. So please correct your video color to true. That was my real point.
