Here I am, 28, depressed and battling thoughts of suicide. I have help and I will never lose this fight. As I sit here and watch, filled with tears, I’m at a loss for words of how amazing this film is. Some great life advice and a whole new outlook. I’m truly blessed beyond belief and while I have people to make proud, I will also make Jim proud. It’s so crazy how someone else’s life, losses, accomplishments & well being can really impact another. To that, I found my second life. Thanks, Jim.

A 76-year-old man cried today. I was totally enjoying the film as I also grew up hunting and fishing with my dad. With the dove in his hands, Jim said, "The eyes"...took me back to my first kills. I can still clearly see in my mind, the eyes of those earliest creatures. Then, there was the sound of rain, yet there was a silence so strong that it broke through the walls I've created to protect my broken heart. There was Nature's beauty and the haunting calls of geese. I cried. Thank you.

my cat once brought home a starling that he had impaled with this teeth. I tried saving it by letting it sit on a stump to regain its breath for a while but it died after 15 minutes. I saw the final thrashing of the birds body before it slowly went completely still. That was my first time encountering something like that and it brought me to tears.

This is the most emotional and moving video I have ever watched. I met Jim and Eva a few years ago at a Bow Tech event. It was a wonderful experience. I was watching Jims VHS videos that I would rent years ago and would always picture myself following in his footsteps. He is an amazing man with no regrets with the life that he has lived. It’s unfortunate that his soulmate is not there to live the rest of his years with him. He definitely set the bar high in the hunting community!

I’ve been watching this man since childhood, long before RUclips and the internet were even a thing. He understands the woods the way I do, it’s like our sacred place, where our souls truly belong. Our connection to nature goes beyond any religion or human philosophy... It transcends all of that. Jim is such a wise man, last of a dying breed. I’m incredibly grateful for this film.

With dad being gone, I’ve been struggling this hunting season. I haven’t been very motivated to hunt much. I’ve really been just going through the motions. Last season when I shot that Buck, I broke down and cried, missing my father dearly that he wasn’t there to share in the harvest.
The hunt is so much more than the harvest. It’s about challenging ourselves. Pushing the limits. And passing on what we’ve learned to the next generation. The documentary has reinvigorated me to get back out there…and see dad again.

Once deer season started we hunted every weekend together. Once he passed I never had the urge to deer hunt without him. I know he would not want that but it hurts to much. I love your story and keep doing what your wonderful father taught you to do.

As a teenager, I grew up watching Jim Shockey on TNN Outdoors Saturday mornings that my grandmother would record for me on VHS tapes, because she had DISH, and we didn’t.
This is my first time circling back onto paths with Jim. As I’m now 40+ and hitting a stride into my 2nd half of life, this reflection, perspective and trip down memory lane just truly resonated with me. I’ve always just gone 9000MPH and felt immortal and bulletproof, but man…we’re all going to be gone soon.

I can remember watching so much of Jim on Television when I was growing up. He's one of the people responsible for me being an outdoorsman. Few men could walk in his footsteps. He's right about hunters. We understand life and death. The cycle we are all a part of no matter how we try to avoid it. Thank you for this film!

22 years old with a full life ahead of me, planning to work as a guide when getting out of college. Watching this gave me nothing but motivation and understanding to “aim high” to do what will make me fulfilled and happy. Great message and video gives me a whole better appreciation for the outdoors.

This was amazing!!! Thank you all that put this together. Jim has been an inspiration in my life. I grew up in the pacific north west I graduated Highschool in early 1990’s. My dad took me hunting before I could even remember. Then I became a hunter myself. Growing up I’d watch hunting shows on tv but they were always whitetail hunting from a tree stand. I couldn’t relate much because I hunted blacktails on pubic land. Then I came across Jim’s hunting shows around 2006. Love watching his shows because it wasn’t always the hunt but the adventure of it all. And the boy at the end of this video talking to Jim brought tears to my eyes. What great advice Jim gave those kids. Hope one day I get to meet you Jim Shockey. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

What a Legend and you can see and feel his passion for not just the outdoors but his family. Not sure how some of these guys can have anything negative to say.
    Well done!

This brought me to tears not because I'm a hunter because I'm not but because I'm proud father of three boys who I teach, mentor and let them experience nature as much as possible. Nature is truly the only power above that will except you, take you and will always welcome you no matter the matter of what it maybe. God bless. And thank you for sharing.

    What an awesome message.
Jim is a true gentleman and ambassader for the hunting and outdoors industry.
He has lived a life most men should have and can only dream of.
Oh, but we do have a third life... and it is more spiritual and glorious than anything any of us has experienced here on earth. I do hope that Jim knows this.

I am so grateful I have had the opportunity to meet Jim in person, watching this movie & after following his exploits with my children over the years a thank you isn't enough. Being able to shake his strong hand & to talk about our children & the adventures that we've shared with them was such a highlight to the day we were introduced. I have the deepest respect & admiration for him & his exploits & his family. So a Thank You will have to suffice..

As a 36 year old archaeologist that has traveled and worked all over (everywhere besides Alaska), I really appreciate this. Most PPL wouldn't understand. I hope more people understand, and get out and enjoy. Also, I hope more people care and have respect for nature and learn more about zoology and cultures in different areas such as BC.

I true my believe in your words about how healing nature is to the soul.
As I am now an older man of 52 and am at the stage where older loved ones are starting to pass, I’ve gone back to the peace and tranquillity and healing power that nature offers by the plenty.
I recently lost my father and me always thinking I was strong in times like these was taken aback at how much it really messed me up at the same time trying to be strong for the others in my family dealing with the loss.
I remember taking my mother out for a nice long drive in the country backroads free of human activity to a beautiful view point just to ourselves and she mentioned as you did that she could see, and feel his presents in the beauty that surrounded us that day and we left that place for home with a soft smile on our faces. A truly healing moment.
Thank you Jim for your years of footage and stories for us to be apart of.
