I have two fully rigged out FS5MII's with Shogun Infernos that I have been using for several years now. While there are a few things I would like to get, I prefer Super 35 and the only way to really upgrade in the Sony lineup for that is the FX9 which is a much larger expense. I feel pressured as the price keeps falling, but at this point, I really cannot see filming on anything else. I also have a Sony ASIII but filming on that is not as nice as a cinema camera. Great video. I was searching around for other FS5 users who are still making content. They are great cameras if you are okay with being a little more technical and having to learn how to be a better filmmaker with it.
Everything you say is correct, though I have a FS7MK2 , and the workaround for me , is using a Black Magic Video assist, it has only one SD card slot, but better than nothing, and I can take that footage and download easy..... I bought a FS5 last year from a Sony Dealer in New jersey, The camera had many issues, I returned it, and still use the FS7 with no problems, Either model FS series has Lemons out there.... Sorry you had a bad experience with yours......Though I do like the smaler size of the FS5,,,, Maybe I'll get a good copy one day...........
I have a zv-e10 and I have worked with the FS5 and 7. You would do much better with the FS5 as it's explained on this video. However, the problems with the FS7 can be resolved with lower quality proxies and a lot of patience.
This guy has no clue of what he's talking about. The FS7 is radically better than the FS5. You can't even compare the two. The FS7 uses XAVC-I 400 mbits per second 10 bit 4:2:2 DCI codec with luts visible on the monitor. The FS5 uses 4:2:0, 8 bit XAVC-L 100 mbits per second without luts on monitor. You can't push rhe FS5 image in post. The FS7 is a movie camera. Not the FS5. The FS7 is the best all around camera ever made by Sony, whereas the FS5 is made for industrial or wedding videos, the FS7 is truly capable of anything. Dont listen to that amateur who has no clue of what he's talking about.
Happy FS5 owner here!

The FS5 is 420, the FS7 is 422. Huge difference.
