    Literally just returned from my doctors annual check up: blood test, cardio gram test and also gotten the result of my bone scan etc 2 hours ago today. He still asked if I am taking his prescription of Fosamax ?!!🙄😤😡 ! I told him YES so he won’t be angry with me! 😅 But I have never taken it in all the 12 years I have been seeing this doctor! I picked it up from the pharmacy and toasted it in the trash bin! I feel good and took care of my bones by exercising, walking with my weighted vest, proper nutrition, protein, food contains calcium, vitamin D3, sunshine, also with digestive enzymes / HCL to help absorb them in the body! Managing stress levels etc. I feel strong and nimble! I was on the stair master yesterday and out done my friend’s young daughter and I just turned 75!! 😂😃!!!

      @@TrishLester Now that you mentioned it, I think I will tell him the truth (after all this time ! 🙄) since I am shopping for a new PCP for my healthcare to replace him but I know it won’t do much, he is ‘old school’ and we all know you can’t teach an old, stubborn dog new tricks! At the end of the day, we all needed to take responsibility for ourselves especially being proactive in our health. Researching for new updated information and take note at what works for our body and what doesn’t and make an informative decision for our own benefit.

    I wanted to share some fantastic news with you. Last September, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis and immediately began taking the six supplements you recommended. Ten months later, I underwent a rescan and was pleasantly surprised to learn that my new diagnosis is osteopenia. Even better, all of my T and Z numbers have improved significantly. Despite my challenges with calcium intake (due to my susceptibility to kidney stones and lactose intolerance), I diligently took all the other supplements. I am incredibly grateful for your guidance and support!

    My mom took Fosamax and it weakened her bones. She found out when she fell and broke her femur. She was so angry and disheartened. I have osteoporosis and told my doctor that I won’t be taking medication. I’m going the supplements and exercise route. Hope it works for me!

      Yes, I was diagnosed 30yrs ago & stopped the drugs after 1yr hoping for something new & natural. I have been going to start an exercise program but have had so much going on I have not had time to start. I did damage my hip & shoulder in 2013 lifting my father which took me 6yrs to get well so I am at least doing those exercises to keep walking.

    I was diagnosed with osteopenia 2 yrs ago. My doctor told me drink milk. No further advice given. I started researching. I found tge COMBS study. I added the k2 and magnesium. I already took a fish oil and D3 as well as a B complex with C. I added in 40 jumping jacks a day. I got serious about strength training. I aim for 3 days a week. Some weeks I only get 2 days. I also combine walking with running intervals. I read somewhere that short runs are better for bone health because after a certain point the bone quits adapting. Anyway at my bone scan this year I added some bone! Still osteopenic but at least it didn’t move the other way.

    My physician told me to take calcium for my osteopenia - I said no thanks big pharma - I don’t want to die from calcification in my bloodstream. So I went on D3, K2-mk -7 , magnesium & lifted wgts.

    At age 48 i had a dexa scan. I was already osteopenic. I thought this might be the case because my mother and her four sisters all had varying degrees of osteoporosis. I began taking fosamax for 6 years. I was very concerned the whole time I was on that drug. I researched and found the COMB protocol. I stopped fosamax and began taking the COMB supplements. In 2022 i had another dexa. And the findings were normal.

      @@jackiemarassa5929 what the problem is now I think is it is impossible to get strontium ranelate. There was a study that said that it caused cardiovascular problems. I took it for years and never had any issues. But you know how that is. Medications affect people in different ways.

      Very true. And some exercises online are very dangerous for people my aunt fractured her back doing twists on a chair yoga for elderly video. She's in constant agony and pain ...

      @@Padraigp Also, if your bones are weak, adding too much weight is not good and neither is high impact exercising. I cannot do jumping jacks, jump rope, running or anything where I'm twisiting in excess. I do walking workouts and I add squats and side lunges. Whatever will be will be, I refuse to take medications for osteoporosis.

    I stopped taking medication because I do NOT have good teeth and was worried about jaw necrosis. I did my own research about osteoporosis and put myself on vitamin K2 from natto. (I have taken vitamin D3 for years.) I also supplemented on and off with prunes (you can only eat so many prunes!) and at least 3 servings of food containing lots of calcium everyday. (milk, cheese from Europe if I can get it, and plain yogurt) The only exercise I do is to walk my dog everyday for about 45 minutes. I just received results from a bone scan and I have improved my bone density significantly from borderline osteoporosis back into osteopenia. I plan to continue this routine and perhaps add some magnesium. I am also considering leaving coffee behind as I have read if your diet is too acid, your body may compensate for this by withdrawing calcium from your bones.
    I DID ask my doctor before starting this routine but she had never heard of vitamin K2☹️!
    Because of your advice to add strontium, I will now research that. Not sure if my memory serves but I thought there were negative possible consequences from taking this mineral?
    Final comment; I do not always trust doctors anymore because they are too swayed by the drug companies and their « just take this pill » solutions.

      Hi Catherine - I have been diagnosed and started Landomax as there seem to be no other choice. I am so encouraged to learn that your numbers improved to osteopenic range. Can I know 1) how long you were on medication and 2) how long have you stopped medication and on your new routine for your numbers to show such improvement ?

      @@qiuhao4212 Are you thinking that the medication had a delayed impact and improved my bones after all? Not likely. I had been on the meds for about 5 years with no real improvement. I stopped the medication well before the beginning of the pandemic. It has been about 3 years now that I take K2(type MK7 from fermented soybeans). It takes your bones about 9 months to go through the cycle of dissolving and rebuilding your bones so I am convinced it is the K2 that is helping. Also, I did not rely on finding this solution from just one source, but from many. Another thing that I learned along the way is that if you take high levels of Calcium supplementation WITHOUT getting K2 from somewhere the calcium will be deposited in your soft tissues instead of being carried to your bones. (Soft tissues being most likely your arteries.) Of course if you are lactose intolerant like a lot of Asians you will have to analyze your other natural sources of Calcium and perhaps takes a supplement, but it does NOT have to be a huge amount. I would never take as much as the 1.5 grams of Calcium daily that a specialist recommended to me years ago. One gram maximum is enough.
      I have just looked up your medication and the website in the UK tells me this medication has been discontinued. You might want to look into why.

    Please DO NOT downplay the importance of WALKING!!! It is by far the easiest, most accessible exercise almost anyone can do in terms of "weight bearing exercise" - you are basically using your own body weight to regain strength and help regenerate bone cells.

      Yes, walking is great exercise! I recommend tracking your steps and trying to hit >7,500 per day if possible

      Try mixing in some dancing, as dancing may add both the extra impact he recommends and the range of motion. Walking alone works the same actions on the same body points

    I have just received a referral for Bisphosphonate infusion. OMG thank you for letting me know the side effects. I am waiting on approval from my medical insurance. But l will not do it now, l will stick to my supplements and healthy diet. Thank you so much this a blessing for me. I have enough health issues that started with my Thyroid being on Synthroid over twenty years. During that period l developed High Blood pressure, Achalasia and then Neuropathy. Nothing has been cured, l just given different medications and the pharmacy is telling me it interferes with my thyroid medication. It gets worst but l don’t want to explain any further. I have to research more diligently and take matters into my own hands. I can’t stress how much l have learnt reading all your comments. This so helpful for me thank you everyone for sharing and commenting. It saves people like me from not making the wrong mistakes that will impact my life.

      Bone grows pretty fast ... a fracture heals and forms new bone and modifies it within months not years. In a healthy body. If you fracture from biphpsphenates it can take a year for a fracture to heal. My moms dexa showed she had reversed osteopenia in a year. She's in her 80s.

    I've heard that osteoporosis medications just prevent osteoclasts from doing their job. It can cause necrosis in the bone, NOT the same as "strengthening" the bones.

      Were you already doing a lot of these? I just got diagnosed too, haven't even got the response from my PCP yet, but what I glean from the internet, haha, is that my case is "very very severe" which is sort of a relief to know because 2022 was "the year my back became the dictator of all life," after 60 years of not having significant trouble with it, and having no idea why because I DO almost all the things. I hadn't heard of strontium until this week, and I haven't supplemented vit K much, but D, fish oil, magnesium, sunlight, lots of exercise, even when my back hurt so bad I walked like a little old lady, but by golly, I got out there every day anyway. The thing I'm thinking/afraid of, why it got "so bad" so fast is that I have been taking thyroid for 15 years, and though blood tests suggest my dose is correct, my heart started acting up almost immediately and I knew it was the thyroid med, but man, you kind of have to pick your poison, because low thyroid dominated my life, too. Just, I do wish someone would have made the connection for me, with thyroid or even with breaking my wrist from a pretty basic fall and osteoporosis. I feel like I could've maybe slowed this down, but now I'm an inch and a half shorter (5/8" in the last 8 months,) and I DO feel like there's "less room in there," I'm now officially overweight (BMI-wise) because I'm that much shorter, and of course I feel shell shocked and blindsided and stupid...but, hey, challenges keep life interesting, right?

    I refused the meds bc of bone cancer being in my family. Had found this study and am using this along with collegan with FORTIBONE and Verisol. Seems to be helping as I’m not in pain and feel much better. Will look forward to another Dex scan.

    I’m 60 with severe osteoporosis . I found out a few days ago. I will NOT take the pharmaceuticals. Side effects are horrific. I’ll consult with my dr but they dont believe in the natural route. I will also be doing your exercises. Thank you !! 🙏

    I took Fosamax and Boniva for many years. While walking in NYC, my right femur fractured. Fracture was evident in an X-ray. My doctor asked me if I was taking meds for Osteoperosis and I told him I was. He told me to get off of it immediately. I think the side effects are more evident than recorded. I would say, stay away from the meds if you can. I do supplement now with those you mentioned.

    I just saw this video. I am 53 with osteoporosis. It has been devastating news. But I decided to not let it paralyze my life. My specialist, an endocrinologist, had even told me to not lift anything heavy at all. He wanted me on Prolia or the shot that’s like Fosamax. Instead, I started weights and jogging, cleaned up my diet. I sadly fell into a deep depression and I’m having a terrible time getting back to taking care of myself. But this video gave me hope. I am afraid of the strontium though. I heard it messes up the dexa scan and gives false done density?

    That was neatly explained Ed , it was very convincing and helpful I'm 62 had 2 types of fractures one in my ankle and at the hip yet by GOD'S grace doing ok all the same I need to build up my bones thru smart guidance without putting holes in my pocket as I'm a single mother, suddenly I spotted ur video it made lot of sense I think I would start practicing wat you had suggested.     I was previously taking medication for well over 10 yrs. Did both oral kinds. During that time period both femurs felt oddly sore most of the time. I should have listened to my body at that point. Ugh, nearly got talked into doing the once a yr infusion. Glad my insurance nixed paying. After much discussing with Dr I HAD to stop nearly 3 yrs ago because my jaws became so painful to even chew. My Dr recommended the dentist take X-rays and yep, I was heading into necrosis of the jaw due to the medicine! It took nearly over 2 yrs of recovery but my jaw troubles are over and have returned to normal. At that time I started (on my own) doing a powdered collagen supplement stirred in my am coffee along with taking K-2 everyday. I’m 66. Bone density tests two yrs in a row haven’t improved but it hasn’t worsened either. After seeing this I’m now going to add these additional supplements asap.

    I’ve been running on the treadmill for 2 miles a day, with my isotoner slippers. I’m trying to get the heel impact.
    Also weight bearing exercises, supplements and mostly healthy foods. I have the beginning of osteoporosis in one hip and osteopenia in my other, from a dexa scan from last year. Hoping next year it will look better. Menopause played a big role, I personally feel!

      Yes, exercise is key, keep it up. Although running on a treadmill with isotoner slippers is a bit dangerous, be careful.

    Another supplement you have not considered, is Colloidal Silica. I considered the fact that egg farmers have realised that their eggshells were always stronger if the chickens pecked at a silica-rich ground and I knew that eggshells are pretty much structured the same as bones, so I have been taking a daily supplement and my recent bone density test came out normal, whereas my early-thirties bone test was on the level between normal and poor density. (That was 30 years ago and I are been taking Silica for about 20 years.) It might only be an instinctive option but it is certainly worth looking into, as silica is good for skin, hair and connective tissue, including bones. My mum has osteoporosis and I made her take it for a few years. At the next bone density test her results showed no deterioration. She stopped taking it, her bones have declined some more now and she is back on Fosamax which personally I'm not happy about. I've heard that too much calcium makes bones more like concrete which is brittle and inflexible rather than resilient bone structure. Still, she is doing well now and in her 90's so I am blessed she hasn't crashed on her hips as apparently they are like honeycomb!

    Grazie! Thank you. I'm totally into a healthy choice but you cannot do it yourself, you need an expert like you to give you a good balance of "natural ingredients and timing" in order to prevent a further increase of Osteoporosis.
    I live in the UK, where there is not such a prevention or attention to this subject compare to Italy, where I'm from, and where finally I decided to go to do some tests affordable for any pockets.
    I'm 61 and it turned out that I've got a -2.1 (DS) T score on my hips (-2.5 is the critical one) which made me realise that I cannot do some workouts, or certain movement, anymore. This caught me by surprise and saddened me. It's not just about "getting older" but also "I wish I was aware and do something about it earlier". Prevention when menopause comes!

    Excellent! I would also include collagen!! Good source: Bone broth, that white thing in egg shell and chicken skin. Egg shell is also pure calcium.

    I was put on Actinol for one year. One morning, I woke up with intense jaw pain. I went to the dentist. He sent me to my GP. My GP tried to send me to the dentist. When I explained that the dentist sent me to him, he calmly spoke into his microphone that patient is exercising side effects of jaw impairment. Will discuss change of medication. He looked at me and told me to stop taking the Actinol. He pulled out pamphlets on other medications. I said no thanks and switched doctors.

    I am absolutely grateful and thrilled I found you. I was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis a few years back. I had hyper parathyroid surgery. I’m 64 post menopausal. I’ve had no issues. The surgery I had was great success. I feel great. I did supplement but I did not Exercise as much as I should. I just had a bone density test after three years and unfortunately it’s the same. Severe osteoporosis. Neck hip spine. I am taking quite a bit of the supplements you suggested but I’m gonna get the rest and I’ve already started your exercise program. I do enjoy walking and I will add weights to my ankles.I want to thank you for these. I am for biology not pharmacology.😊

      Walking will not do it. You need to see a physical therapist since you have severe osteoporosis and what you should not do and you need to see what size wait from supper safe for you but resistance training is where it’s at.

    I haven't taken any medication for the last 20 years. I'm 75 years old and over the last two years worked my bud off to lose weight. I was 185 pounds and the signs of body trouble started to show. I'm now 145Lb. but have been diagnosed with Osteopenia. I don't get it, I walked, take vitamins but no calcium. I did and still exercises, had an amazing healthy diet and still do. I end up with this. I'm still not dependent on meds of any kind but I do a lot of exercising. The pain is tolerable but I know it's really up to me.

      It is very normal for your bones to lose some density when you lose weight, because without having to carrying that weight, your bones don't have to be as strong/dense, so your body's osteoclast cells start breaking it down. It's a perfectly normal response as our bodies are efficient and conserve resources. It's the same reason heavy people have less of a chance of having osteoporosis compared to thinner people, and those who get gastric bypass surgery lose a lot of bone density when they drop all that weight. I believe it can equal out and normalize, but it takes time. Lifting weights might be helpful, as well as adding vitamin K2 with D3, but I'm not a doctor.

      Watch the calcium buildup in your veins are, and you have stroke you need to have vitamin K, a special vitamin they say talk to your pharmacist do research before taking any drug or supplement even the research chemist lead us. Remember we know now we find out wrong down the road so I think this takes a whole hell of a huge approach of not taking certain medicines and exercise and eating a variety of foods in so much more

    The Netherlands are the biggest consumers of dairy in the world,they also have the highest rate of osteoporosis. Dairy isn’t the answer it part of the problem

    From my experience it is often the case that physicians are unaware of the range of supplements that are appropriate and they just push the pharmocology approach.

      Doctors have destroyed health with their almost total ignorance about nutrition. Most nutrition advice from doctors and dieticians has proven wrong. The standard American diet is unhealthy and unscientific. Plus we have had Seventh Day Adventist pushing vegetarianism on Americans for 100 years. Think Keto or Carnivore. No one is allergic to meat.

    I was diagnosed at 50 with osteopenia. Then it progressed to osteoporosis. I wonder when the my bones actually began to deteriorate. A bone scan from early 20’s and every couple of years afterwards would have been a very useful metric. I have had some serious impacts with the ground over time and one accident recently by way of my interaction with horses and have not had any broken bones, that I know of. This is a subject that seems simple but I suspect is far more complex.

      I rode too. Have broken many bones over the years. Now since menopause I find mild osteopenia. Went on hrt... can't tolerate it. I taken k2 and vit d andmag. Here's hoping. I'm still riding 2 a day and very active.

    Lost all my teeth from Forteo and the 2 years I was on it I had 6 fractures then I went on Prolia and had more fractures. Became a vegetarian, Take Biost and Biotin with Vitamin D3 no more fractures

    I'm 52 year old male who has done strength training extremely consistently since my early 20s. I have never smoked, very rarely drink alcohol. Eat plenty of calcium and eat healthily. And yet I find myself with osteoporosis that continues to get worse.

    Not mentioned when comparing bone density among those taking the drugs vs the others is that the drugs, while they help maintain bone density, it's not good quality bone. It's 'old' bone and more brittle. Not to mention, of course, all the possible serious side effects that come with the drugs.

    I broke a few bones so I was prescribed F… ax, however I talked to my orthodontist since I had braces. He told me that I couldn’t be his patient anymore but didn’t say why. I did some research and then I told my dr that I couldn’t take the risk of my bone jaw to have necrosis and loose all my teeth among other complications So I never took the med. I am very fit but was underweight my whole life. My mom was the same. I am on a put on muscle programme, and lifting a lot of weight ! I do keto , being doing keto for 8 years now. I take all my supplements. My dexta test of my hip was 3.5 5 years ago. I run, cycle a lot, long distance, 57 years old very active. I never stop moving… ❤️🇨🇦🙏

      I love thé vidéo, thank you so much, My protein intake is multiplied 5 , I was 99 lbs a year and a half ago ( my normal weight) for 5’’4. It is extremely difficult to keep the weight. I am 108 now . Unfortunately, I can’t digest protein powder, but tonight I ate a whole Wild caught salmon 😂. With some basmati rice, also, I don’t suffer from any heart or metabolic disease, or thyroid issues. Nothing, just no muscles… I will get there… I am sure. Your videos are helping too.     The medication only looks like it’s improving bone density( in your dexa scan) for a few years, when in actual fact it stops the old bone being eaten up and you’ll eventually wake up with a broken femur and dexa scans don’t measure bone strength.

    This information is what I need. I have a serious Osteoporosis diagnosis, My doctor had me tooking Fosamax for 5 years then my doctor switched my medication to Evista for another 3 years, but my bone density result showed worsening year after year. I was so mad and stopped the medication. I told my doctor I’m going to the supplements and exercise weight-bearing path. currently, I am taking D3: 5000IU/day, Calcium citrate (with magnesium and Zinc) 1000mg/day, K2 (MK-7) 90mcg/day, plus nutritions: Chia seed, Dairy (Kefir, cheese), and green veggies.
    I probably won't know my bone density status until a year or two from today 10/11/22. I am so nervious. I am praying every day that this is the right decision and works. Otherwise, I will be in big trouble, ☹☹!
    One question: should I take Docosahexanoic acid or DHA? has anyone tried DHA?

      Your medication look good i take most of your supplements for a few years now so i will do more weight exercises but had 2 hand surgery the last 18 months that make excercises difficult Good luck for you😊💕

    My rheumatologist says that strontium is harmful at that dose. Makes bad bones. Has been used in Europe at that dose but not in the US. Please investigate this recommendation further.

    My doctor has me doing vitamins, calcium and more protein with heavier weights/exercise. I hope in 7 months when she retests, it's better or not worse.I'm 63, used to working out but more Pilates and had lowered weights last few years. Slowly building back up

I went back to the original machine at the bone center at Yale that I use the first two times and I don’t know if it was tech error or part of my hard work but my spine went from -2.9 to -2.1. That was too large to just put in one category so my doctor was pleased, but also called the Bone center to find out what they thought happened at the satellite I went to seven months prior, which is still part of the hospital but not the exact machine. They did t have a clue but my scan showed improvement . I’m still taking supplements and trying to lift heavier as my body adjusts to the weights, and wear a weighted vest sometimes for walks. We will see in a year

    Concerning Calcium supplementation, the most recent research has demonstrated a correlation between calcium supplementation and cardiovascular disease. Therefore, the recommendation now is to NOT take calcium supplements, but rather get calcium from food sources. I'm surprised Ed and Elizabeth are not aware of the most recent research.

      Thank you for sharing. Yes, I am aware of that. However, in this video, I was just discussing the results of the comb study and the parameters that they used. I agree, it is ideal to get it from food, but sometimes people are not able to get it all from food, and then it does become an individual decision between the client and their physician. Thanks 🙏🏼

      D3 with K2 M7 combo is a precursor to promote building calcium rather than taking calcium. Don't take calcium. You will build Calcification

    Just one anecdotal response fwiiw I have a friend with this condition who was doing pretty well until they enrolled in physical therapy classes at a local hospital that focused on light impact and twisting excersizes. They became injured in tne first class as part of a jumping back and forth right leg/left leg routine and they’ve been wheelchair bound ever since.

      Very sorry to hear that but yes, you do need to be careful when you’re starting a new exercise program, especially one that involves jumping. I do hope that they feel better and regain their lost function.

      @@FrontRowwithEd thank you, and I’m responding with this if perhaps it might help others. My friend has not recovered from the physical therapy hop foot to foot excersize, yet. They were doing well before that incident, enough to give them confidence that it would be ok to engage in what the PT had lined up. What happened is that metal plate was broken and a few screws affected too. For some reason surgery continues to be postponed and I don’t know anything about that. I do know however from my own one and only PT experience during recovery from a broken tib/fib that patients really must be wary advocates for their own well being. In my case, the othopeduc surgeon who was advising the PT “forgot” to tell them that he’d spontaneously moved weight bearing up one month, I’d borne no weight yet, the PT did not ascertain for themselves what my physical condition was, and I was still in a mode of obedience. If the doctor says calisthenics level excersize as a place to start will help me heal rapidly, then is must be true. Dumb doctor, dumb PT, dumb patient. Result- huge amount of physical damage that could have been avoided. I’ll take responsibility, I should have simply refused to participate. I’ve had other less than positive experiences with physical therapy and it seems to me as though unqualified ppl with a certificate often get fired and in general, there’s little or no oversight of doctors and physical therapists. I encourage all those in recovery to be hard nosed, take control of the situation and don’t risk reinjury if their gut feeling isn’t right.     Q. As we age the stomach acid may decline and that can affect the digestion of Calcium tablets. I see one Calcium as calcium carbonate + Magnesium, Zinc and D3 supplement includes betaine HCl. Calcium carbonate is slightly soluble in water and betaine HCl is one way to acidify the stomach's pH. When I had problems with acid reflux, I found out that most of the elderly had chronic acid reflux and had been on antacids like Prilosec without stopping, which is counter to instructions.

      calcium carbonate is basically like eating rocks...body does not absorb calcium carbonate...it just deposits itself elsewhere in the body/I was told to use collagen/bone broth

      ​@@Rockin7E Vitamin K helps boost the absorption of calcium carbonate (and you want a powder form preferably). What I do is mix powdered calcium carbonate in bone broth and then it's much easier to digest, if you have Vitamin K too, and D.

    the main problem is the question if dairy products provide calcium to our bones or not. I've read countless write up by doctors or others that it actually hurts our bones. I would like to know the truth about this. How can we find out? Not knowing the truth could be causing many of us to have osteoporosis.

      The research I have done is the cow's milk is too acidic for humans....Why would you drink another species of animals milk?? Cow milk is for baby cows!! I have also found in my research we should only consume our own mothers milk and should quit with the mlk drinking altogether by age 2.

    I started Prolia and wasn’t aware of the rebound effects that can occur & now starting on a pill. I am so angry because I never would have started these medications had I known the possible side effects and didn’t know I had to take something for the rest of my life. I am 57yrs old.

    I don't understand the magnesium requirement of 25 mg/day. If you go shopping for elemental magnesium, most are like 500 mg per day. That's a huge difference from what he is recommending. Can anyone help explain what to buy??? Thanks so much

    I am 40 and been diagnosed with Osteoporosis Doctor didnt prescribed me any medication he said to get 6 hrs sleep hour excerise a day and eat balanced diet. I am good with that

      Sounds good! My only advise would be to make sure you have a follow up DEXA in 1-2 years to determine if you are able to maintain your bone mass density.

    I decided to go with a natural route and I have a growing bone and I will be 62 soon so it is possible another important thing to take is probiotics because if your stomach is not healthy, you are not going to absorb the good nutrients and adding salmon and broccoli and other calcium rich foods I also started taking a good collagen supplement and MSM, which is also good for the bones one of the key things people don’t mention is that liquor and coffee make you excrete calcium so it’s best to use those minimally and to not use acid reducers and people can Google a list of other items like any very high sugar or salt foods. But the great news is yes you can grow bones even if you’re 60 years old and you can go from osteoporosis to osteopenia. The only thing I don’t agree with taking is strontium after researching it thoroughly.

    Dr Rheaume Bleue in Canada said that strontium strengthen bone for the first 2 years. But after that, it will break the bone.

    Hello doctor, your videos are so helpful.
    I am 52, diagnosed with osteoporosis. I had menopause at 44. My T-score is -3.5. Doctor gave me Prolia. I took one injection in September. Now I want to stop, as I always want to live my life without meds. I have started healthy eating , supplement, exercise. Please suggest me if I can stop. Thanks in advance.

      I’m not a doctor, but have done a lot of research on the topic. Prolia does bring about increased bone density however if you stop taking Prolia, you have bone relapse … ie, the bone loses any gains made and in fact can fall back further. Stopping Prolia can bring about spontaneous vertebral fractures. A you’ve only had 1 injection, I’m not sure that will be a problem but you really must go to your doctor to discuss this. Your doctor should have advised you about this bone reversal before prescribing Prolia - you are on the drug for life once you start. Please seek further advice on this. Eating and exercise with vitamin supplements will help in the meantime but only if you are getting the right amounts of the right vitamins and doing the correct exercises. You really need advice from a physical therapist who specialises in osteoporosis exercise. Good luck.

      Even a doctor can’t tell you to stop doing something on RUclips. That’s beyond his scope you need to go to another doctor for a different opinion and your insurance typically pays for that or will cover it as what I mean. You need to make that decision for yourself after talking to numerous professionals, and looking at your research and using your own decisions.

      @@magpiegirl3783 very good points and I agree with you!!!❤❤❤ I don’t think Doctors knew a lot about the drugs not like a pharmacist the pharmacist would be able to look at it all and you can even ask for the drug insert that they don’t give you that has way more information on that drug then what the pharmacy prints out for you they only print out a small amount. If you knew everything in the steroids could do you wouldn’t take on steroids are horrible for the bands but they’re just a horrible drug anyway but amazing because they’re Lifesavers so we do need them at times.

      At 67, I have seen so many drugs freely released for use in US & hear horror stories from their use. Why do Americans have to be Guinea pigs for the greedy!! big pharma CEOs?

      What happened to your mom should NEVER have happened had we a medical system that cares about lives instead of $$$$$.

    About ten years ago, at age 50ish, I opted not to take any drugs when I had osteopenia. I was super active at the time so thought I was okay and was scared of the potential bad effects of the drugs. In retrospect, a VERY BAD decision - a spine fracture two years ago on top of existing back/hip/sciatica issues, has pretty much destroyed my life. Fortunately, a year of Evenity increased my bone density by 15% but it's still not great. I'm 61, so really not ready to give up on life, but I think about it often.

      Did you eat 1200 mg calcium/day plus vitamin D3, K2 and magnesium? All these are crucial to getting the calcium absorbed into your bones. And being active must include weighted exercise. I walk 5 days a week with a 15lb weighed vest too. I refuse to take drugs. They are all so bad.

      @@angelalitterio I probably did not have as good nutrition as I should have, but I definitely did a lot of weight bearing exercise -- ran about 20 miles per week, did Bikram yoga every day, hiked, skied, did construction work... I don't like to take drugs either but it's a trade-off, not that the drugs are "bad." In fact, for some people, they are a life saver - I had lost 23% of my bone density in 3 years. My endocrinologist was very concerned that I had some other underlying factor to cause that kind of loss -- fortunately that wasn't the case. But gaining back 15% of bone density was huge for me - and makes me less scared of another fracture and more able to regain some of my life. Unfortunately, I still have the other back/hip/sciatica issues that great complicate and limit what I can do. I've been to 8 doctors, 6 years of PT, had arthroscopic hip surgery and tons of other things - to not much help. It's beyond depressing. BTW, you might tone down your judgement when you don't know other people's situations.

      @@liliboo8475 So sorry! I broke mine while XC skiing but I didn't even fall down - it was on a very slight slope, I lost my balance enough to lurch forward -- heard and felt a loud crack. It was excruciating but I had to walk back to my car dragging my skis, and drive home. Like you, this was during early Covid, so I didn't even go to the hospital until the next day. Sending you good wishes and hope things get better.

    I am a 70 female. I have been taking most of the supplements in the Comb study plus a multi mineral with boron. Boron is very essential in bone health. Just had a Dexa scan. My spine remains osteopenia no change from the scan 5 years ago and hip bone reversed from osteoporosis to osteopenia. Z scores for both are in the + . I think 100mcg of K2 with 2000iu of D3 is too much. I think the ratio should be 1 :100 (K2 to D3) according to Dr. Berg. Just for info. Do your own research. I also take collagen powder for it is a major part of our bones.

    Unfortunately, the bone density scores of the prople in the COMBS 2012 study were nowhere near my osteoporosis score, so this really doesn't apply to me. If you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, check your bone density scores against the people in this study to see if it applies to you. I am concerned that the amount and types if nutrients recommended will not apply for me. So, I am checking the NIH Library, PubMed, advanced search. I am putting this here in case it may help someone else.

    To prevent osteoporosis it may be important to pay attention to the nutrition and habits of our children, especially teenagers. Beginning to put sunscreen on at 50, when you are showing the first wrinkles, does not make much sense neither. These things should be explained in schools. Smoking and drinking alcohol during growth may affect your health in older age. Good habits are there to protect young people and not to take away their individual freedom. Are there any serious long term studies existing that relate nutrition, exercise, sleep, etc. in the early years with bone health in older people?

    Dairy should be minimal. Organic fruits, veggies, etc should be the main source of calcium, vitamin D

    This is really interesting, thank you 😊. In the UK, the drug options are available on the NHS if you have already got osteoporosis (and if it has been picked up). The COMB protocol likely isn't available on the NHS so would be an extra cost for the patient 😊xx

      Why would anyone touch those meds. Stopping a natural body occurrence, osteoclasts and osteoblasts operating together is insane. Japanese now discovered malignant osteoclasts which are from different cell types. Stem cell for certain gene type is underway

      My GP put me on medication (UK) for osteoporosis. I took it forc5 years then a tooth broke. My dentist refused to take it out, because of the mess, and sent me to the Hospital. Why? I asked my GP. She looked it up & saw, side effects :- necrosis of the jaw. Wow! No, no, no!
      I stopped immediately & refused all medications.
      I do the research & take the mineral supplements as recommended by Dr Eric Berg & now I've seen this video. Thanks.
      It's in our family - the females - so yes I worry about my daughters (osteopathic so far)

    1200 calcium would require 2400 magneisum which is a lot. The rstion discovered by linus pauling is at least 2 to 1 rarion mag to cal.

      Hrt all the way. I can't live without it. Strong body perfect blood work and my skeleton is like a 20 year old but I'm 62. I also take D3 K2 magnesium and potassium and taurine. Lots of protein it's more important than calcium as you age.

    Not getting better under study of the following:
    The BEST is fine tune yr Diet & have some indoor exercises for yr joints & body..it does help & improve a lot esp. Knees joint body pain ...supplement is good but only temporary...
