As far as the two sports are concerned, in NASCAR, the team prepares meticulously and the driver has a multitude of things to do and three hours to get it done. Tony has a full season in the A/Fuel car and finished second to Julie Nataas for the World Championship. He had the best average reaction times of anyone in the class. Other than the violent, unrelenting acceleration of Top Fuel, it drives exactly like the injected nitro cars. Plus he has a LOT of runs in Leah's car. Enough that he could have earned his Top Fuel license several years ago.
Only people who consider this a big announcement are those nascar fans who think drag racing is a joke. Tony’s been very vocal that he’s enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of drag racing
You are correct, but add sportsmanship in the NHRA that does not exist in NASCAR. If a low buck NHRA team blows and engine but wins a round, other racing teams will lend parts and technicians to help the low buck team race another round, even if the teams that lent help have to face them in the next round. And NHRA drivers do not get into fist fights with their competitors like they do in NASCAR.

Everyone in the NHRA signs autographs! Unlike NASCAR, when you go to an NHRA event, every ticket is a pit pass. You can watch teams at work. Get to the track on Friday, and you have time to meet hundreds of drivers.

Like Rick Ware, Tony will guide his loyal sponsors toward other avenues of exposure, its the latest trend in cross-over racing sponsorship. NASCAR isn't failing, only thing thats failing, is old stock fans. if you don't like it anymore, thats up to you. It's gone world wide. People love it. Ive been a huge fan since 1964, loved it then and still love it. Changes happen, just like in life.

She was in England in the early 60's promoting the NHRA, and was the first woman to earn a Funny Car license, back when they were extremely dangerous. She was a pioneer. Anyhow, Julie Nataas, who beat out Tony Stewart for the World Championship this year, is from Norway. Her dad was the European Top Fuel Champion. Speaking of Europe, the same day Tony and Leah made their announcement, it was announced that 2023 European Top Fuel Champion Ida Zetterstrom would be competing in Top Fuel in the NHRA. She will be teamed with 8-time Top Fuel World Champion Tony Schumacher. Over the years numerous international drivers have competed in the NHRA in the United States. In fact it's common. Drag racing is huge in the Middle East. The ruling family of Qatar has fielded teams in the NHRA for years. The Prince used to attend a lot of races. The NHRA may not be as "big" as NASCAR, but it is the world's largest sanctioning body.
