You got stuck You got yourself unstuck by using your brains and materials on hand...BRAVO As we used to say at the fire station at end of shift.... Nobody died....nobody fried...everybody went home OK Thanks again for another nice adventure. Still healing up here from my heart surgery for now. Hope to get out camping next month in my Westy. Take care, best wishes and happy trails Chuck in Kentucky
Glad you're in the mend Chuck. Before you know it, you'll be out adventuring! Yeah we used all we could to get unstuck. That 4x10 was a life saver. nate
That sucks you got yourself stuck. The first time is a learning experience and hopefully won't repeat. I was in the same situation except I had to get towed after 5hrs of digging and only moving 12ft. Lessons learned, never spin tires because you dig yourself even deeper. Traction boards, don't gun it or they will shoot out other side as you saw. Slow without spinning tires is best. After my getting stuck, I finally bought traction boards. Hope I will never need then, but nice to have. Lol
Thanks for your work on this video, it was very enjoyable to watch. As a lifelong Vancouver Islander, I'm still finding new places to enjoy, and your video is good inspiration for that. I'm the kind of viewer who follows along with Google Maps and my Backroads MapBook, and your video style made it so easy for me to follow along your route, while watching the video.
Thank you. As you can tell from our videos, we love Vancouver Island and are always finding new places to explore every time we go. Glad you can follow along with maps and see where we go! nate
Excellent job getting unstuck! What a magical camping spot. Water, views, uncrowded - much deserved. I love treasure hunting the waters edge. Looking forward to your next adventure!
What a beautiful spot for camping, you are so lucky to be able to pull up in areas like this. Here in the UK we have very limited acces to such sites where we would be allowed to pull up and camp wild for free. Very much looking forward to your next installment, enjoy your travels 👍
The northern west coast of North America is pretty wide open with so much public and private land available for exploration. We are fortunate for sure. Thanks for watching. Nate
Another great vid, glad to see you coming back to our Island again! I’ve been here 23 years and I’m still exploring and finding new spots (if/when I can get around the many gates 😊)
Looks like you had a great time on the Island. Once again you have produced a wonderful video. While watching your adventures, I often find myself flipping back and forth between google maps and your flick, just to see where these places are and what it's going to take to get me there....awesome. Two things. You must submit some of your pictures to Gowesty for the calendar competition. And, the bears on the Island are generally very timid and will avoid most contact with humans if you are letting them know you are there. but good to see you're prepared.Just make sure you always inform the border agents that you have it, as it is considered a weapon in Canada.
Thank you! If you can get yourself up to Vancouver Island, do it. Go north and explore! On every trip to VI, we have encountered black bears but not this trip. Lots of scat but no bear sightings. We always keep the bear spray handy thought. And yes, we always report it at the border! nate
Hi guys, thanks for sharing! I don’t know if it’s just summer vibes, but this was such fun to watch, you guys had a pep in your step! Jousting looked a blast! Nate, now you can add getting stuck (or how too get unstuck), to you vast repertoire of Westy skills! Still the best looking Westy on the internet! Love the solar hookup port!! Wishing you guys many more safe miles!
Thanks!! We did have a great time and getting stuck is a right of passage 😁. The jousting was fun but with the right hit, a little painful! Thanks for watching! Nate
I could feel that sinking feeling you guys must have had when the ass end dug in, thank God Nancy has Super Human strength to push you out Nate....JK but not about that sinking feeling. Great spot tho!
Greetings N&N, Nice video! Did you run into any bears on V.I. or surrounding areas? When we were at Campbell River, a mtn. biker had been attacked and survived not long before our arrival. Made us shiver.
Not this time. We usually see a few black bears and even have some close by but only saw scat this time. Sorry about that biker, that is unfortunate. nate
Great video! I’m curious about your propane fire set up. What size tank do you use and how long does it last? I’m needing to get my own with fire restrictions.
Thanks! That is why we originally purchased the propane fire is for fire restrictions in the summer but we now use it a lot in the winter as we can put it under our awning if it is raining or snowing. We use a 2.5 gallon tank and if we run the firepit for a few hours on medium setting, the tank can last a few days. On longer trips we just refill when we get gas. A bigger tank would be nice but we have limited room! The fire pit we got here and love it. Perfect size: amzn.to/450T6Q8 Thanks for watching! nate
Just discovered you folks. I'm in Seattle with a '91 Syncro Westy. Only 91k miles and I purchased from original owner who bought it in Germany. I noticed on another video that you were checking the NP boundaries before flying the drone - appreciate that as many don't know or follow the rules. Been doing a lot of upgrades on mine so is now quite road worthy - rebuilt 2.3L WBX. Looks like fun! You are in Oregon?
Wow what a great Westy you found!! Nice work. We always check before we fly. Lots of restrictions out there and we all need to do our best to be responsible drone pilots. Glad you kept the WBX!! 😁 Yea we are in NW Oregon Thanks for following along!! Nate
Nicely done - also consider lowering tire pressure to the 18-20psi range, which when you are alone can be super scary for fear of not getting tires back up to pressure or un-beading one.
We initially aired down to 26 for the drive out then down to 20 when we were trying to get out. We carry a nice compressor and 20 psi is hard to loose a bead but if you do, there are interesting ways to get it reseated 😁 Thanks for watching!! Nate
@@ThatBaldwinLife Tires can easily be aired down to single digits. I almost always wheel at 10 PSI. And still go highways speeds just fine. Ive done it so many times that I'm rarely ever worried about tire pressure. The lowest I've gone is 0 PSI just for fun.
@@ThatBaldwinLife I hear ya. I come from the modified Toyota world so I do a lot of wheeling. We've had a Synchro that was given to us for free about ten years ago by someone who bought it for $500 but didn't have time to work on it. I've finally gotten around to working on it. Just converted it to selectable 4x4 and got rid of the viscous coupler for a solid shaft as well as all new suspension parts. That's about as lucky as it gets I know.

Nancy is such a good sport ruclips.net/video/v-ZFNh8Pmc8/видео.html. My much better half, a US Army paratrooper who drove an armored personnel carrier during Desert Shield/Storm, says, "Thanks but no thanks," having had enough of being outdoors when indoors is available. HA! HA! That said, it cannot go without saying that she has gotten me out of trouble exponentially many more times. Thanks for sharing.
Next time, get a real off-road vehicle, like an F-150, that's made for America's back country, and leave the flimsy foreign stuff in Europe where it's best suited.
Haha! No it’s not. Not sure how much better a syncro would have done in the loose rocks. We watched a 4wd truck struggle right there the next day. It was mostly poor line choice by us. No syncro in our future. Thanks for watching! Nate
