Gorgeous spot. These days you can get a booster pack like a Noco that fits in your pocket, charges on USB, and will boost a vehicle multiple times. I think every overlander should have one. Pairs perfectly with a portable power station and solar panel, you can never run out of power with that setup.
Thank You for stopping bye 🙂. Funny you should mention the Noco, as soon as we hit cell service on the way home, we purchased one 😂. Have not needed it yet, but it sure gives peace of mind having it 👍. All the best, Michelle and Holger 🙏
Ha! I just got back from there this afternoon. Spend one night at that beach then went to the other beach for the second night. This beach is the one to watch the sunrise, while the other is for catching sunset. A lot less people when you went. And yes, it's a long haul. Took me about 5.5 hours from Campbell River.
It's a great spot for sure. We actually took the long way in, which was a bit rough, but took the faster way back out. We only realized that there was another part of the beach once we were all set up. Probably would have set up there instead, if we had known. Thank you so much for watching.
Can't wait until personal drones are available so I can experience such places without driving. I know, that's a fantasy but hey, you've gotta have dreams!
It's beautiful out there! I really need to make it out to the North Island to do some exploring. You need to get one of those jump starter packs for emergencies when you're wheeling alone. I've got the "NOCO Genius GB40 Boost Plus Booster Pack/Jump Starter, 1000-Amp, 12V" which I picked up at Canadian Tire. It works wonders and is a little bit of security. Next weekend I'll be getting on the dirt roads looking for grouse and seeing what is gated up. It won't be as spectacular as this trip you've done. Thanks for taking us on this adventure😁
It is well worth the effort👍. I think we will be spending a lot more time up there this fall. So much to explore and hardly any gates. As soon as we got home I ordered exactly that. I think I got the GB20, though. We have been thinking about getting one before, but forgot about it. This sure was a good reminder. Also ordered a Zoleo by the way. Thanks fir the advice on that 👍. Glad you got your clutch fixed. Enjoy the dirt 🙂. We have seen so many Grouse with chicks this summer, like we never have before.
@@backroadjournals you're certainly getting yourselves prepared for emergencies by having those two items! That's great to hear that you're seeing lots of grouse. That means that the Spring wasn't bad this year for them. There is a lot of this Island to explore, for sure! I'm just getting started by hiking areas I haven't done before. I also plan on exploring much more in the Jeep. I like the idea of less gates up North 😁
That really is a long haul 👍. It really is a beautiful place. The scenery certainly makes up for the long drive. Thank you for watching. All the best, Michelle and Holger
FYI that first waterfall in your video. There's a rope down the path on the left. it's sketchy but if you climb it, there's another waterfall and pool which feeds into the one you filmed.
Sweet. Thank you for letting us know👍. We'll have to check it out next time we're in the area. Thank you for watching 👍 All the best, Michelle and Holger 🙏
I was here a couple of years ago. Long drive, but worth it. Regarding driving on beaches, it's my understanding that's it's illegal to drive in the intertidal zone - that is, any point below high tide. Above high tide, you're okay.
It's well worth the drive👍. You are correct, driving in the interdidal zone is certainly not allowed. This may be the only beach on the island that you are actually allowed to drive on (to our knowledge at least🙂). Thank you for coming along 👍. Happy adventuring, Michelle and Holger 🙏
That's an excellent video... really enjoyed it and have shared it... you guys renew my waning faith in our species..
This may just be the nicest comment we ever got 🙂👍! Glad you enjoyed the video. Did you try to fly over it, yet 😉?
no, haven't flown over it.... yet, but I think I know where you were..
Great video. It’s so beautiful there. Can’t wait to get out there in May 🤗
That is a beautiful spot, but a bit of a haul to get there.
All the best,
Michelle and Holger 🙏
What a beautiful spot, dirt roads sure lead to great memories and views ✌️
That is so very true. Thank you for watching guys 🙂🙏. Hope Rooby is coming along well 👍

we had the good fortune of visiting there for 5 days last year, long trip from the Cariboo, but so worth it!

This was on the list of places to go but we didn’t make it. Maybe we can make a fall trip. Great video.

Where is Side Bay anyway, what road do you take?
West of Port Alice about 3 hours on logging roads. Do the research to prepare. It is a long remote drive.
pretty sure driving on beaches is illegal on most vancouver island beaches...
That is very true. This, however, is an official rec site.
Thank You for watching.
