  • Hello all!
I am proud to be an engine-driver at the Dutch Railways, a wonderful job at a beautiful company, and I like to show that!
People around the world today show how they do their work: from pilots to ambulance drivers and police officers. On my channel I give you a unique opportunity to watch along with me what the engine-driver profession means. I can proudly say that I have already received many messages from viewers who, by watching my films, have decided to become an engine driver. Some have already started their education! In addition, it is striking how many compliments come from all over the globe from viewers who, after seeing my recordings, are full of praise for the quality of the Dutch rail system. That is always a great compliment for me and all my colleagues from NS and Prorail!
As an engine-driver, you are responsible for the safe, timely, comfortable and energy-efficient driving of trains. And that on one of the busiest railways in the world. I show you in my films how I do that together with my thousands of enthusiastic colleagues every day. That more than 90% of our trains is on time is a great achievement! But where does that 10% delay come from? In the playlist "This is how delays occur" I show you that, so that there may be some more understanding when your train is too late.
I was asked by a viewer whether it is safe to be handling a camera in the cabin. I always make sure that the camera is running, and I only switch it off after arrival. Logical. While driving, the camera is no obstacle and requires no attention. And thanks to that camera you can check that I am fully focused on my task, so you should feel extra safe in my train.
I was also asked if it is wise to show how a train works. Indeed you see the actions in my films. But I do not give any explanation, even though it is regularly asked by the viewers. All material guides, hand- and signal books can be found on the internet, and Train Simulator also teaches you how a train works. Nonetheless, I believe that without practical instruction with a train, you will not be able to move the train a centimeter. Furthermore, I obviously do not give confidential information about the company and colleagues. If you, as a colleague, see or hear yourself in my films and you object, please let me know.
I really like that you have so many nice comments. It strikes me that we always treat each other's messages with respect, the mood is always very friendly. It is also striking that you are always so positive about the Dutch Railways. I hope that my films contribute to this positive image of the NS and all my colleagues! Thanks!
    And not to forget:
    THANK YOU BEST TRAVELERS!
You make it possible to experience this dream job every day!
I wish everyone a lot of viewing pleasure!
Help us subtitle our films so that the whole world can enjoy our adventures! In English would be nice, but in Dutch too, there is a translation function in the subtitles of RUclips! Your contribution is greatly appreciated. Click here and get started: www.youtube.com...
