I just discovered you and your work and I’m very pleased. I’m a 70 yr old female in California who had done a lot of wood working with hand tools. Never sold any of my work, simply for my own use/lifestyle. Wood blows my mind, simply beautiful and burls especially turn me on. I also used to own/operate an antique store and imported furn with lots of burls from France and England. Birdseye Maple, walnut burl, curly maple, tiger oak/quartersawn and others I can’t remember now. So, I’m loving your artwork and so glad I’ve found you! Super jealous of your equipment and setup, knowledge of how to use it all! Wow, just WOW! I can’t wait to watch ALL your videos. Too bad I’m 70 and have no $$$ cause I sure would love to be making things like this! I’m going to dream about this (I hope)… I’ll be wood turning all night long….‼️‼️‼️‼️

I will never forget at the zoo....a peacock used to always fan to a squirrel 😂. I tried telling him he was confused...but squirrel fanning he did anyway. He did this every morning when I went to check on the goats in the petting zoo🤣.

I very much enjoyed your dialoged about how wood moved both wet and dried. Been turning 16 years now and teaching other disabled vets like me and I encourage them to watch others and watch and listen to them. I will be recommending you also. I know how expensive epoxy is and though I cannot afford it for the vets and I we all love seeing what others make from it.

Another fabulous piece. Your comments about hobbyists underselling professionals is valid for other media as well. As a jeweler, I have found lots of hobbyists selling at low prices to make just enough to pay for more supplies. This is so demoralizing and devaluing to the professionals who are trying to make a living. When customers complain that my prices are high, I politely tell them that my work is not for everyone. If you don't value your own work, no one else will either. Sadly, much of the public has become jaded by cheap imports and no longer value fine handcrafts.

I thought that it resembles the Aurora Borealis in the way the silver look swirls through the blue with hints of the other colors. And the Aurora has all different colors swirled so anything in how it mixes will be beautiful! Designer acrylics is so fascinating!

Your channel popped up with this vase. It is stunning! My grandfather was a wood turner back in the first half of the 1900s. I have a piece and my brother has a piece. He used different woods together and the finished items were beautiful. My faves were always the cherry because it reminded me of him…he smoked cherry tobacco in his pipe. You make me want to do this but at 65 I doubt that I would be able to build a workshop. It is nice to live vicariously though. Thanks for sharing!

One good thing about having a tippy salad bowl, though, is that it would toss the salad for you.
Great piece, Jim. I'm sure you'll crack the colour separation problem. And great advice on pricing. I just have an Etsy shop for selling my sticks so I tend to just price them by how long they took to make plus postage and materials (plus an occasional variable amount if they turn out particularly cool.)

With this particular piece, I can just imagine cruising through the deepest parts of the many galaxies in space, and coming into view is this beautiful, living planetary object much like our own Mother Earth. One can easily visualize life forms swimming in the cool, deep, mineral rich oceanic areas. Other creatures trekking across the earthy areas, perhaps looking for their next meals. This heavenly body suspended in the vacuum of a deep, and in the outermost stretches of a Universe light-years away, is where one will find such warm, inviting peace. That's my take on this work of art my friend. Grin 😊.

I like how you explain what you are going for when you start and how you explain if you have to shift directions due to unexpected problems that may arise
I love this bowl. While it's no peacock colour scheme as you intended, the blended colours make a very elegant shade of blue. Much like the colour of the oceans as seen from satellite images and the pearl streaks resemble cirrus clouds above the water.
