Viewers can learn so much more from you than woodturning. I once had a teacher when I was in college who told us that if we learned everything about one thing, we’d learn all there is to know. I can’t thank you enough.
It’s really interesting to be starting out watching your latest resin bowls, and now going back to your inlay “roots” to see where you came from. Love this burned edge! I’ve never even heard of doing that before, and the effect is fabulous! Very cool!
Wow, that looks amazing! I actually thought you painted or laminated the edge of the bowl! I was shocked when you said, "Okay, lets get the torch and burn it!" 🤣 Definitely the last thing I thought I'd hear after all that work on a wood project! I love the natural edge of the bowl. It's really cool! I like that you don't cut them down to make it even. It makes for a much more interesting piece! It does have less holding capacity tho, so it's good you do both.
What a beautiful bowl with a really nice inlay and a burnt edge it's cool. The wood is really lovely it's got some nice grain and the finish is awesome well done Jim. Amanda x
ONCE AGAIN YOU GOT ME WITH YOUR WORKMEN SHIP. FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS ITEM AND ONCE AGAIN I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PURCHASE ANY OF THE THING YOU MAKE BUT YOU ARE GREAT AND THEY ARE LOVELY. THANK FOR THE SHOW
wow very different. I hadn't seen inlay done until your channel. I really love the contrast of the light timber with the brass and the burnt edge. Just stunning
What a Brilliant combination! You Put the shavings on paper, you can roll it into a funnel for quickly filling spots and a second one on your Matt will catch the loose shavings, you can again bend it to a funnel to place back into the jar to be used again later, it’s great with glitter or any of those fine mediums that you have to buy, “waste not want not”
That fruit bowl turned out really beautiful, less is more! The brass shavings look cool! I thought that they wouldn’t be detectable, NOT! You can truly see it shine! Great job!
That's another beautiful bowl! The finished shape is very artistic, and the burnt black edges go well with the end result. And so with the inlays, it's quite attractive. This is another number 1 for me. Wow! Thank you! 👍🏻🤗💕🇺🇸
Jim, I couldn't bare to see salad tossed in that beautiful work of SpagueArt. It's an offence deserving of "hot" tar and feathering! Hell yeah you should sign your work! All true Artists do. As always, thanks for letting me and all of us visit you and your shop. Hey, don't vacuum up that shop floor. It's what makes me feel right at home! ;-)) Wakodahatchee Chris
Hi Jim, its defintely a beauty, wow, it reminds me to the paintings of Gustav Klimt. Last winter i started to fill a cracked bowl with cherry branches and soapstone powder and another one with maple branches and crushed malachite. You are a great teacher . Now I will try brass shavings. Thank you for giving us such impressing examples! Cheers Stefan
Jim, I can’t believe it’s been four years ago, too bad you can’t get credit for every time I watch each video. However, I saw something today that I didn’t see before. I saw a sitting fox, with its head down. Closer to the end, as you were applying the finish. Way cool. Did you or anyone else notice it ???
Again amazing! I really like the brass filler with the lighter wood, works well. The piece is gorgeous. Really love the branches you use with the filler. I'm with you I love the shine also.
I haven't been through your entire video library yet, but have you considered doing some bowls, platters and vases in the shou sugi ban wood burning method? I think it would definitely be interesting if you combined the burnt wood, inlays and resin along with having warped rims. Turned out fantastic!
BEAUTIFUL BOWL INLAY.... I had never seen it done that way with tree branches.... Great detail of the process....Thanks again for the lesson!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Jim, I have been watching some of your previous video's, you are a truly great artist. Wow, the grain in the bowl is stunning and the brass and twigs are a great feature. Thanks for sharing
Wow this one is exquisite..I love the black around the rim and the inlay looks like a fantasy flower !it even has a stem..This has been made out of a beautiful piece of wood..Defiantly one of my favourites 😀
I'm really a fan of your work . I just found your channel, about a month ago . But you are quickly becoming my favorite . I am not a turned yet . I am saving for my first lathe . Thank you for the inspiration .
Excellent piece Jim. I’m loving your videos. With the exception of Captain Eddy Castelin I find that most videos really are “watch how I do this” without providing sufficient details. With your videos you provide excellent info and instructions on how you go about with your craft as well as providing the pitfalls based on your experience. I’ve watched three of your videos since discovering your channel earlier today. I’ve learned something from each one. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos in the following days. For now, I’m wishing you continued success.
Awesome! Thanks. I’ve also notice the same thing with a lot of videos on here. I don’t know if you watch Kim Tippin’s channel but she called me the other day and said that I’m the only person on here doing natural inlays too. I was a little shocked by this and I think she’s right. Stay safe, Jim.
Duct Tape should be worshiped...lol A very nice piece indeed sir. Nice to see how things change. Like the fact that you moved into the resin work, it gives it more of an artistic feel to you work. Like the brass it looks great sir. An outstanding bowl.🌿 👍👍👍
Thank you for this impressive video. Although i started woodturning only a year ago, i got lots of inspirations of your work and even tried some of the tecniques i saw. Keep on turning !
lovely idea .. i kept seeing a bouquet of flowers with the branch inserts being the flower heads. you've given me inspiration. thank you. beautiful work.
We all have moments of organization and total disorganization! 😁 you should see my craft space at the moment, NOT! 😆 Keep the awesome videos coming! 👏👏
Happy Holidays Jim to you and your family! 🌲🎄🍁✨ I just watched this video again fir the third time and absolutely loved it. I think I got more out of the video this time than last. The bottom of the bowl looks almost like some otherworldly rabbit with multiple eyes! You are a master at enhancing nature’s paint brush! 👏👏👏
Same to you, say safe! I know it’s been a tough year for a lot of folks. I really like working with theses pieces that have flaws, bring them back from what would of been firewood to being the center piece that sits on your table and treated like art! Thanks, Jim.
That is an absolutely beautiful creation. Love the fact you use natural materials. I’ve tinkered with resin, which is great, but using natural seems a more ethical solution. You also don’t have to wait an age for the resin to harden :-) Really appreciate you sharing your ideas, skills and experience with us.. looking forward to more projects.
I love you teaching method and useful information. I just wondered why you do not use a clear resin fill for something like this. So the brass would be the feature with the little branches. Just wondering. Keep up the good work and making those videos!

Hi, I don't do woodwook myself. But I love watching the way you can take a piece of wood and turn it into something so fantastic. You are amazing.
Thank you very much!
Jim, you knoted it out the park, looking at what you started with and to the end,man your a wood Ninja love your work brother !!!!
Thanks 🥷🏻 lol 🙏🏻

Shinny is my choice and I love the way it brings the bowl alive. Makes it like satin .

burning the rim just looks so amazing and the result is just astonishingly beautiful

Thanks for watching, and I sent you an email, Jim
It is a beauty. I was wondering about the wavy, burnt edges but they are very interesting. Nice work. Nice bowl.
Thank you very much!
The burnt edge frames the bowl, making the maple pop. Such a neat idea and beautiful piece
Thanks 😊
I just love this piece!! Just plain old wood.
Sure is, lol. Thanks for watching!
This bowl is magnificent! I love the burnt edge. I would never have thought of that myself! You have a great imagination! Another winner! 🎉

Thanks, I always try to reuse all my inlay material, so of it can be quite expensive.
Nice piece. I can’t make a fire no more as all my scraps need to be made into something. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and techniques.
Thanks for watching!
Gorgeous bowl. I like the brass and branches inlay. Classy looking
Thanks Judith!
Hi. Just a Word to say how much I learn and get inspired by your videos. Thanks
Awesome, thanks for watching.
Hi Jim, I ❤ when you burn that bowl. The black you get is very dark. 😍 I told you I see animals in your work. In the bowl is a red fox. 🦊
Lol. Thanks!
Look at the beauty this bowl has that you use natural material and natural techniques to make it
Thanks 😊
That fruit bowl turned out really beautiful, less is more! The brass shavings look cool! I thought that they wouldn’t be detectable, NOT! You can truly see it shine! Great job!
Thank you very much!
I love the resin projects. One of the reasons I first started watching. But damned if this isn't awesome!

Amazing! For me, there's a definite Klimt vibe to it. I envy the person who buys this!
Yes, there certainly is. Someone said this to me years ago and had no idea what they were talking about, lol.
I love this one! The inlay is gorgeous. 💜
Thanks Tracey!

Sure, resin will work too, there’s no substitute for natural inlays tho.
