"Getting weird fast, like a SU&SD simile on roller skates"
Bravo for that one.
My wife and I played Regicide. We beat it on our first playthrough. We laughed because of all the "it's super hard" reviews. We haven't won since.
On the podcast they mentioned a similar experience. I think they beat it on their second game.
Haha that's awesome! I love Regicide
Probably played some of the rules wrong ;D
I have 4 wins out of 24 games on bga
Hardest card game ever😢. Great video guys. Greetings ftom Spain!
There is definitely a special magic when more than one person physically collaborates on these. Glad to see it come back.
Yeah I have been waiting a year for Quins and Max Gland to collab!
Regicide is the game I wanted to make with a card deck as a kid but I wasn’t smart enough to design the rules for
this is a profoundly relatable comment
Same for us TS35

@@badgersfrommars But you created it 👀
I would pay real money for a deck of cards illustrated by Mr Crotch Goblin. Those illustrations were hilarious!
Future SUSD merch?
Yes please! Or at least a full review so I can make a copy. ❤️
Society
I was so ready for the top 5 cards. I must know. This is critical.
So was I.
same! i was very invested after that stellar 13 of Wasp card!
I feel unfulfilled.
Be certain, one of them must have been a 10 from Spicy. My personal favorite is 10 of Wasabi.
Same, they need to finish!
The max gland part literally had me in tears, been a long time since I've truly laughed out loud at a youtube video, thank you!
Plinkett vibes, weirdly enough :P
A lovely Toast of London reference
Max Gland is the next Cal Chuchesta and I said it first.
@@jkerm2727 don't worry, nobody was going to say that.
I felt the same. It's his like super loud outfit and that ridiculous smile likes he's from weekend at Bernie's.
Oh man. It was good
The King of Carrot Flowers. I cannot believe you have done this to me, Tom Brewster.
A Neutral Milk Hotel reference in a SU&SD episode is just pure perfection
Yay, multiple peoples in the same video. In the same room!
Lots of the board game channels have virtue signaled their terror of the virus to the max
@@Botanica_Gaming it's not virtue signaling if not doing it might kill you.
@@Botanica_Gaming or just followed the national rules….
@@andrewphilos Under 65? Zero co morbidities? Chance of surviving CV= 99.92% -Oxford University.
@@damianstevens1675 Lol Rules. Not laws, mind you. Just do what you're told...BECAUSE you were told. How is that shot working out? Oh, it drops to less than 40% efficacy after a few weeks and is vitually useless against Delta, Gamma, Lambda, etc? D'oh!
I am so disappointed that I'll never know what the best 4 cards are. :(
When I first clicked the video and saw Tom's excited face in the corner I didn't dare get too excited because I just came from a Captain Disillusion-video and briefly wondered if they'd suddenly gotten really good at rotorscoping and it was just VFX trickery xD It warms the heart to see you being silly in the same room again!!
I came from the same CD video 😳
And this is how I find out he has a new video....nice job RUclips.
Tom's look at 3:03 made me laugh out loud, loudly, for real.
Next lol: "like a bout of explosive gas at a dinner party."
The kidnapped puppet...just disturbed me.
This was the last place I expected to see a Neutral Milk Hotel reference, but thank you.
Who would have thought a year and a half apart would lead to this beautiful chaos
The green screen and vfk work in this video is truly sublime. It TRULY looks like these two people are in the same room, which is madness. No one has been in the same room for decades.
Are they not in the same room?? It definitely looked like they were and they interact with the same objects.
@@khelseachristie2466 😅😅 I hope after 10 months you have realised your mistake
Probably the hardest I’ve laughed this week.
"Good value for money, that boy." Still has me in stitches after several views.
"I can't believe you've done this" Quinns slipping in a classic Vine there maybe?
Vine?! Bro that thing existed before Vine was a seed.
Oh ok, learn something new everyday!
As a Korean, the tigers in Spicy made me buy the game; they’re based on old Korean folk art of tigers: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minhwa
I just want to thank the whole team at SUSD for outputting great content, and helping people make choices on their board game purchases. Really great channel, really great work, and it always makes me happy to watch. Keep up the good work! :D
When I noticed Tom lurking during the intro🤣
I love how much fun team SU&SD seem to have filming together :D
Did Tom call a game “ eminently edible” ? I don’t know if that is a trait I am looking for in games.
Oh My God Quinns fighting Max was HILARIOUS 😂😂😂
Team videos are back! This was really good and reminiscent of early SUSD (but better quality).
Tom is definitely great value for money, his solo reviews during the lockdown were always really innovative and it’s great to see him work like a funny bon-us multiplier.
I love the look of Oriflamme and Royal Visit. In other words, I love extremely pretty games with manageable strategy.
This was a great video, and while I'm definitely interested in several of the games covered, I was also strangely intrigued to get a glimpse at some of Quinn's books at the start of the Fantasy Realms segment (I've had books on the mind recently). So I spent a little time squinting at the titles (and googling images of covers for confirmation) to add them to my to-read list. Since I've identified them all now, at risk of seeming weird I figured I might as well list them here for anyone else who's similarly interested to save them the time:
The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison
Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft
The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse
The Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty
Mordew by Alex Pheby
In a happy coincidence, two of these are among a set of books I ordered a couple of days ago for extra lockdown reading, so now I'm looking especially forward to those arriving.
"Senlin Ascends" is the start of an all-time great series, imo. The fourth and final book is out in November.
@@Omnidoom thanks - next book on audible!
I LOVE The Goblin Emperor, one of my favorite books ever.
Mordew is from a small English publisher called galley beggar press

tom running down the hall at 10:45 was too much for me
Yes! Oriflamme is getting some love! It’s a game that took me by surprise.
14:29 Quinns this is a family show! 😆
PS: The return of Max Gland was hilarious. SU&SD have the best running jokes...
The bound-up Quintin Strings in the corner is such a good Easter egg.
The standard reference Pear is my highlight of 2021.
1. Glad you were being safe.
2. Great to see you filming together again.
I really missed SUSD reviews with more than one person in a room, what a brilliant video, cheers guys!
Lol I laughed so hard at the random "finding a game in a shop window part"
Also, never felt so guilty at watching a video in my life, I'm off to listen to the podcasts
God, it's good to see you guys doing reviews with each other again. Easily one of the best reviews just in terms of pure entertainment value in a long time.
Hilarious and fun. Such great energy having the two of you together on this one.
Oriflamme reminds me of love letter / citadels cross? Looks good!
“Give it a try, or don’t! it’s just very good” The best kind of sales pitch 😂
When Tom said "take it in turns" I cannot help but complete it by saying "to act as a sort of executive officer for the week."
The skitting around on this one was excellent. The review never stopped or slowed in pace to fit in jokes, it all just flowed really well. This might be the best SUSD script I've ever seen, well done
Glad to see you guys taking on sponsors/ads. You guys deserve whatever money you can make however you can make it. Congratulations!
also the skit in the deli shop had me reminiscing about Brighton, i lived in Burgess Hill from 13 to 26 years old and i Adored being able to hop on the World's End train stop and be in such an exciting, massive city in 15 minutes
all of the eddies and backstreets, both of the laines, the mahjong group who would regularly meet in the North Laine Brewhouse, effin Snoopers' Paradise, and my dearly departed Marwood cafe
god i miss Brighton so much
So glad you guys are able to film together again
This is probably my favorite SU&SD video this year.
I absolutely called the last game you were going to pick!! Lovely to hear a lot of the podcast chat become video review :)
You guys are still so hilarious after so long. Amazing work and a clear love for the topic
Yes! A BGA sponsorship! Been on that site since 2012
Love these smaller game / card game reviews. Maybe a top 5 board games under $30. Please keep these coming.
Thank you very much for another one of these! Especially the inclusion of Regicide, I’m visiting London for a few more days and had some time to sit in Kew Gardens, perfect chance to give the solo mode a play and it was a ball!
I'm glad I hopped on the Regicide Kickstarter. It's an enjoyable game + a very pretty deck of cards.
More games! I need these for the upcoming game night. Thank you!
Joker at 21:34 saying "Society" is the best.
And there I was looking for new podcasts recently. What a well placed plug.
Definitely scared my neighbours with the frequency of my laughter in this video.
Quinn’s for crying out loud get that Olly Moss print framed. True story I spotted that on one of the first SUSD reviews I watched and knew I had found my board game brethren.
I got Fantasy Realms back when SU&SD's podcast covered it a month or so ago, and it's been a big hit for pretty much every audience I've tried it with. The fact that it's an extremely self evident teach that only needs a few sentences and a basic knowledge of how to add and multiply to understand makes it really take off.
Soo good to see some of you in the same videos, that's been really missed.
Tom has been a tremendous addition to these videos!
Hmm... 🤔 Maybe Tom should see about trying to work with the Regicide team (Like they did with the Monikers team) to Kickstart his rather "saucy' illustrated deck for the game 😁👍
It's been awhile since I watched something that made laugh loudly. I needed that. Thank you.
The jar card is a reference to a story where anansi has to trap wasps in a jar to control stories
It deserves mentioning that Board Game Arena is currently partnered with Asmodee (to my knowledge) and includes volunteer work from programmers who contributed to BGA when it was still fully independent.
Asmodee is pure evil
@@17thknight what does asmodee do that's evil? I'm unfamiliar with the company.
That artwork for shamanz is beautiful
11:37 The title "Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb zwei (two)” is based on the song and movie ”Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins (one)” from 1954. „Blonde Hans“ is Hans Albers, the main character in the movie who also sings the song.
You guys prove it once more : SU&SD reviews with two members of the team are even better :)
This was one of my favorite sketches (is it ok to call it that? I'm not trying to say you're like SNL...) and quite informative. I'm glad to see BGA growing. I have a premium membership and love using the venue to learn new games (sometimes adding them to my collection later). Perhaps one day we will meet in a game room....where wil lose terribly.
Love the chemistry here! Bravo guys! Keep the gold coming!
Thank you for the Regicide recommendation, I've been thoroughly enjoying playing this brutal game! It's such a neat game design for a standard deck 🤯
Also, the wasp card looked pretty solid, so I would like to request the rest of Quinn's favorite cards of the year 😅😂
This was so fun to watch, thankyou!
Really enjoying your getting the local townsfolk and merchants involved in the review videos
Great video! What a twist that I'd heard of most of these already from your podcast but still a fun watch
The greatest thing about this video is that it is a video of great things.
Gotta say thanks for the recommendation on regicide, I printed out the pdf for that the day I saw this video, and I've already been playing it and loving it. Easily one of the best games you can play with a 52 card deck.
The shop bit killed me.
3:02 made me actually lol, wow
Oh, the puppet taped up behind the pot plant! That elicited a chuckle.
I've been stalling for ages to get The crew and Fantasy realms. I think now is the time to take the plunge.
god the fucking double palm door SLAM from tom has me in stitches every time
Can I just say Tom has gotten really good at this?
This is a Tom appreciation post
Loved seeing you two back together again!
This was powerfully delightful.
You keep getting better and better. Best review ever
Making up for lost time with the frenetic banter. A Fine Move.
We don't deserve videos like this, but we need more videos like this.
I caught up with the su&sd podcast a day or so ago! Good stuff.
One of the best you have done in a while! And that says a lot
The list was excellente, I adore card games, I think I'll get the missing games from this list, this year :D. BTW guys can you share the list of books you showed for Fantasy Realms?
Scroll up, someone sussed out the titles and posted them for everyone to enjoy!
I need 1 of those jumpers..
Tom is killing it. Such a good 3rd member
This vid was so much fun, good job!
the age of mythology music at 8:10 i love it so much
Great video! Love the time stamps!
Fantastic video. The coffeeshop bit got me good.
Did I just see with my very own eyes a Neutral Milk Hotel reference?
I think we're due for some more "Card Games That Don't Suck". Those help get people who "don't like" games into gaming! (Maybe a video on Euchre?)
Love the subtle touch of Tom still saying Eleven Archers.
Of course he needed the dirigible due to how many of them there were. I nearly spat out my ipa.
good to see quinton strings still kicking around
I cant wait for max gland to do his own review... that guy looks like a fun time ^.^
I was legitimately relieved when you passed over shamans for slot #5. I wanted to love the game so much, then my brothers and I played 3 games in a row, and realized that each of the games was pretty much entirely determined by our hands, with far too little player agency, and it felt absolutely awful while you were losing. Bad hand? You get to watch the player with the good hand activate all the powers and get further ahead. Think you have a chance to come back? Wrong! their better hand has allowed them to entirely dictate the course of the game, and now you are stuck desperately trying to claw your way back with half the resources they had.
