I have serious doubts that even Disney's version of a Spider-Man attraction will live up to what Universal has already built. It's quite the high bar to live up to, and they seem to have gone the route of making it as generic as possible.

There's something about lower budget dark rides that have a certain charm to them. For a budget of $600,000 it seems like a good and honest attempt at doing the most with what they were given. Perhaps for general audiences they would obviously be disappointed, but I enjoy these quirky, and often strange lower budget rides. It reminds me quite a bit of a lot of the attractions in Pigeon Forge.

It's infuriating that something like this was so terribly let down by the poorly run operation, because it looks pretty damn amazing for a $600k ride with audience interactivity. I suspect it would have been better off without an expensive licenced theme, both for audience expectations & for more reasonable ride admission used to maintain the actual ride instead of the licencing fees. I'll take the lower budget ride where I get to shoot lasers like it's a giant arcade game, over some multi-million dollar short video pretending to be a 'ride' by giving me 3D glasses & a chair that tilts from side-to-side. Any day!

    • @AmusementLabs
      @AmusementLabs 3 года назад +2

To be honest, while I'm sure you definitely can't get one for that much anymore, there's something to be done with AR and being able to phase through smaller sets and then bleed back into digital sets. Keeps the ride nice and short and doesn't require as many physical sets.

I love your recent Ontario videos - I remember heading to the Marvel area of Clifton Hill when I was younger. My brother loved Spider-Man so of course we rode it while there. I remember my Mom saying it was far too expensive! My siblings and I loved the young kids play area a lot, but the Hulk Golfing was way too scary for me. My dad had to enter each area and block the sensors for me to play! I remember it being a fun ride, though it did break down at the end. Recently I went back to Clifton hill (Jan 2020 luckily!) and walked through the building again. It is extremely run down, though the Rainforest Cafe attached to it is still very nice. Clifton Hill is known for its expensive rundown rides, so this was no surprise. The best part of Clifton Hill however is the renovated Ripleys Believe It Or Not, the worst part was the Guinness World Records museum, though that randomly shut down last summer for no reason. Hopefully Clifton Hill can profit again soon! The Go Kart and Rollercoaster upgrades show some promise. You should do a video of the WWE experience that used to headline the area, or the abandoned Pink Panther ride that still sits on top of the Marvel building. Keep up the amazing work!

I first discovered this ride while doing research on Garfield's Nightmare. Kennywood seems to have had a good relationship with Blacklight Attractions, as they were also behind Ghostwood Estate in the same park. For having such a small budget, this doesn't look terrible, but it was always going to be overshadowed by the Islands of Adventure attraction. It's interesting to see a dark ride based off the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, which I spent a lot of time reading as a kid. I actually visited Niagara Falls in 2007 and remember seeing the Marvel signage for this place, but I didn't end up going in. I might have to go back just to check out what the dark ride is like now!

I was a 6-year-old Spider-Man mega fan (also hyped for Spider-Man 2 around this time) and, when we saw this place, we *had* to go.
I remember thinking how kickass it was at the time, though looking back, it definitely felt more like a cheesy black light indoor golf course, or a laser tag arena.
When I tried to look up what the hell I rode on years later, I could only stumble upon one super old home video on RUclips just to get an idea what I was on.
Seeing this is honestly surreal to me.

Thanks for the video. I actually rode this as a child. Brings back memories. Still have a Spider-Man pin from the gift shop there, funny enough!

Ed ( Brown ? ) works at the top radio station in St Louis , he does almost all the vo work for all the attractions they build ( and a lot of the attractions I’ve built ) he’s really good.... you’ve heard him before on other videos you’ve done. The cgi was done by Pete Williams... you may know them now as “ Atmosphere Effects” the guys that make all the cgi videos you can buy at Spirit Halloween stores.

As someone who is personally bitterly disillusioned with the direction the MCU went in, I’ll stick with the Island’s of Adventure ride.
By which I mean the obsession with shock deaths, crippling trauma, and having the long-term devastation cause by a genocidal villain be “just something for the universe to live with” (even though this is a universe where time travel are paradoxes are possible).
At least Galaxy’s Edge is something I’ll enjoy if I ever get to visit it.

I think you can still see Green Goblin in the ride? I remember the first time I rode it several years ago, it had already been re-branded and I didn’t know it had ever been Spider-Man themed. I recognized Green Goblin but was confused as to why he was there, only to find out about the ride’s origins later!

I just watched a fairly recent video on RUclips! He isn’t the Green Goblin, but is now a generic pumpkin monster! But he still somewhat resembles the Green Goblin and throws exploding pumpkins which I think is what I recognized from Spider-Man!

12:12 Doc Ock’s moving arms were the same idea as those inflatable dancing men. I so remember that. And the webbed up villain animatronic things at the end (at 11:43) CREEPED me out.

Another video of yours to feature the House of Frankenstein Haunted House (formally a Wax Museum). You should do a mini documentary on this fun attraction.

5:57 I love how it passes by all these crazy looking monsters and badass comic imagery just to have Nurse Liz and Jon Arbuckle stare at you with malicious (and probably sexual) intent at the end

I remember the signs for this. I never actually went, but it was part of the scenic signage on Clifton Hill. It's been hit hard in the pandemic. Many staple attractions have permanently closed and auctioned their collections off

Citizen of Niagara here. I loved Adventure City as a kid. I've got a lot of good memories of this place.
Clifton Hill is a big tourist trap, so I'm not surprised that the ride was expensive to go on. Everything down there is priced up and have a tourist tax on almost everything
The WWE store that opened nextdoor was also really neat and was a big deal for the area. We had some big wrestlers visit the area for promotions

Would love to see a video on Garfields Nightmare. I grew up in Pittsburgh and had an obsession with that ride as a kid, I even got a souvenir photo of me on the ride with my grandfather. Since then I realized that the ride wasn’t that great, as well as the other ride the manufacturer made at Kenny wood which was a haunted mansion themed shooter ride called ghost wood estate.
