I love when you do these product reviews, really appreciate it! You have a very calming voice and I could listen to you talk for hours, so that probably helps! Glad you are feeling better. 👏
You're the queen of paint testing. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into these paint testing videos. I can imagine it's so much work. I really love that army painter greedy gold actually. I may have to check that out. I appreciate you and your hard work!
The consistency between the AP Speed Paints is their biggest selling point, in my opinion. I love Contrast paint as well, but having to learn the particularities of each color is one property I could do without.
Loved the way you used the new speed paints to paint that Dungeons and lasers rock terrain ! Would love to see a tutorial on how you painted that because it came out so fantastic!! Great video 👍
I like to use both contrast and speed paints and frequency on the same model. Both work equally well for their purpose, I find. But, I have to give the edge to the Army Painter if only because the cost of individual speed paints is considerably lower than that of contrast paints. Love the video. Keep up the great work.
Seen 3 or 4 'reviews' of Speed Paint 2.0 Yours is the only one that looks at each colour on the minis. Thank you. Gives me a better overview of the range. Be using contrast or Contrast style paints as my painting time is very limited. I also want a Skaven army now.
You're not the only one to see flecks in the Nuclear Sunrise paint, not sure if its intentional but it definitely seems to be a consistent property of that one. Also, great to see you back!
I think "ghoul green" is a pun on it being a *cool* green, as opposed to a warm green. :D Excellent video! Thank you for this compilation of all the colors.
If you're in Canada or the US, my distributor has it available and I can order in and ship it to you :) I now carry all their 2.0 Speed Paints (video of the entire range will be coming!) so can ship any singles too 🤔 Feel free to email the channel to reach me if you'd like to place an order.
I wonder if there is a consistency issue with the metallics. Some videos I watch look great, some look awful (or perhaps it is just the fact I'm watching a video and not seeing up close).
Hmmm... This range or any range? Off hand, Contrast Paint Asurmen Blue thinned a little with Contrast Medium. From this range... I think perhaps Royal Robes may be the closest. :)
Nuclear Sunrise was noted to have flecks in it during Midwinter Minis' testing during his recent penal colony Imperial Guard video, so it isn't just you.
We are looking into it. We could have attributed Guy's to him spilling it all over his desk, but after seeing this we're having out QC team check the batch to make sure nothing went wrong, or investigate if something is happening environmentally.
Yes, I would say so :) I really like its hue. You could thin it a teeny bit with the medium if you want them slightly more pale, and then go back after it's dried and place shadows more carefully, but for a quick pale skin, it definitely works :) Just know it pools slightly darker once dried so try not to leave any pools you don't want (hence why I'd have the medium handy) Good luck!
So, for me, paint flow and workability is a factor. For me, speed paints have a better flow and workability than contrasts. This said, contrast has some choice colors I like, and some of their contrast is so pigmented they don't really provide any contrast ... But those make good bright base coats and I love that. So I definitely buy those. Contrast=those bright base coat options Speed paint=the stuff I put over that I also subscribe to the way of the artis opus dry brush fu. So I use that as well
I find the AP Speedpaint 2.0 line better for a number of reasons 1/ about 1/2 the price 2/ dropper bottles. Much easier to meter out exact amounts. Also less prone to spilling 3/ better flow and coverage. 4/ more consistent behaviour between individual colors 5/ did imention price? Lol
I could use those metallic right now. I have the 1.0 kit and it does not have any metallic. Most of the time metallic are way too much metallic for that small scale and they end up looking like jewelry instead of weapons and armor. I think the metallic speedpaint are more photoreal.
Contrast paint is actually amazing for what it can do, this on the other hand is literally the same effect I can get by diluting Vallejo paint with water.
I dilute my Vallejo Model Colors with water, and distilled water, and medium (various types and brands, even speedpaints medium), AND, it doesn't even come CLOSE to what Contrast/Speedpaints can do.
@@kraziel Yes regarding Contrast, thats the whole point. Army painted on the other hand is literally just paint with water. Listen if you ppl want to spend 5$ a pop for 1/10th the paint with 9/10th some cheap medium go ahead.
I was a little irritated when I heard about their 2.0 line months after getting the original mega paint set as a gift. I think I’m gonna stick with those originals none the less. I agree with you Naomi, those “metallics” are horrible.
We imagine the Metallics may be a bit polarizing. Some people have said they will never use another metallic, while others prefer their traditional metallics. We love them for how easily they cover over almost any base colour.
@The Army Painter they looked super good in the watch it paint it vashtorre video, but in other videos I thought they looked pretty bad. Curious as to your theory on this - not mixing enough, QC, or whatever
"No more bleeding". Wrong. Red bleeds. Not that much anymore, but you have to wait 2 hours or varnish. thats not Speedpainting. And they crackle thin undercoats from ink (which are the go to for white undercoats) So, nice adv3rt1s1ng for the danish guys, i hope the p4ycheck was good. Youre reliability is gone.
Sounds like a whole lot of user error here, they function very much like the citadel contrast... as for Naomi's integrity your obviously an idio😂 to question that.
First of all, I wasn't paid for this. And I personally haven't had any problem with bleeding from any of them, and now regularly use them though I still go back to my Contrasts. I also haven't encountered the crackle problem recently with them, but I did warn about it either in this video or in the later video showcasing the entire line. Which of the reds bled for you? I have most often used Poppy Red, Murder Scene and Bright Red of late and haven't found any of them to bleed.
Oh! And I bought every one beyond this mega set, so I do personally feel they are worth it 👍 But am open to being wrong about bleeding in some. I can relay that to the Army Painter so they can change that particular red.
Since these may be prototype bottles, I do not know what differences the final packaging will look like from the previous ones. When I have the rest of the line in June, I can be more informative 🤷♀️
I would use Ashen Stone or Battleship Grey as a white speedpaint, with the addition of medium. Either of those over white or ivory can create a white. Pure white can be used as an extreme highlight of these, but not necessary if you use medium to sweep away excess speed paint where you'd like the sharpest white to go :)
Holy White will be making it's return as well as Blind White, a colour developed by our friends at Watch It Paint It. The Mega Set is just 50 of 90 colours in total.
Naomi! So excited to see you back, we missed you. Thaks for the extensive review and we hope you have a lot of fun with the new colours and range!

You, and all the youtubers that make these absurd benchmarks and , are a god-send, you know that? Thank you, this is very, very helpful.
they are paid for
Army Painter Speed paints are by far my favorite contrast paints and they make painting fun for me!
Thank you , Lady Naomi .
🐺
Welcome back, another great informative video in a way only
you can do.
Hi Naomi, thank you! for this useful nice vid about painting i need it 🙏🏻👊🏻👍🏻❤️ have a great weekend! 🇮🇹🤓👋🏻
The consistency between the AP Speed Paints is their biggest selling point, in my opinion. I love Contrast paint as well, but having to learn the particularities of each color is one property I could do without.
.. and the GW stuff cost double the AP paints and come in terrible bottels that can ruin your whole workspace or kids desk and living room.
Excellent demo. Sorely tempted to get these now.
You made superb work of that scenery piece.
I'm excited for your express review! Ive pre-ordered the whole line.
Excellent video! Love your descriptions, and your presentation. Subscribed!

Not that much lower when they expect you to buy the second version because the first version was shit though...
Welcome back Lady Naomi 🎉
aahhhh jealousy incarnate over the new speedpaints! thanks for reviewing.

Can't wait for these!
Very comprehensive... thank you!
Thanks for the video. Need these examples of the colors

Also, great to see you back!
I also had an issue with what I got in the Speedpaint box. My Tidal Wave was missing the mixing ball and spilled when I tried to use it.
Really cool. Thank you for sharing.
Intriguing!
excited for the vallejo review.
Great information
Raging sea is my favourite I mixed highlord blue and absolution green from the original to get something similar
Have you tried layering another color over the metallic speedpaints after they've cured?
I think "ghoul green" is a pun on it being a *cool* green, as opposed to a warm green. :D Excellent video! Thank you for this compilation of all the colors.
Absolutely, Naomi even mentioned glow effects which we imagined these being a great one-coat or base colour option for ghosts and ghouls. ;)
Have you tried Duncan Rhodes Two Thin Coats paint at all.
Unfortunately the mega 2.0 pack seems sold out / unavailable at all the distributors near me. I'll keep an eye out though.
If you're in Canada or the US, my distributor has it available and I can order in and ship it to you :) I now carry all their 2.0 Speed Paints (video of the entire range will be coming!) so can ship any singles too 🤔

Hey Naiomi looking good
Great video! Are the photos of these models anywhere? I’d like to do some comparing with other colours I already have
On Instagram and now in the channel's Community tab :)
Did Gravelord Grey not come in the box??
What would you recommend for 2nd edition style ultra marine?
Hmmm... This range or any range? Off hand, Contrast Paint Asurmen Blue thinned a little with Contrast Medium. From this range... I think perhaps Royal Robes may be the closest. :)
Put the bronze over a SlapChop and go with some verdigris as an effect and you will have a beautiful statue.
battleship grey i think would be best for star trek ships ....from polar lights or amt
Where did you get the terrain or did you print them, if so where did you get the stls?
They are from Dungeons & Lasers by Archon Studios :)
They only cost half the price of GW "contrast" paints. As Gobbertown showed, you can even make them rather easy yourself.
Would Peachy skin, straight out of the pot, be good for Daughters of Kaine, and other elves? Thanks!
Yes, I would say so :)

That is what we can name a summary!

buy vallejo metal colors. They have real metallic pigments in it and look photoreal.
Contrast paint is actually amazing for what it can do, this on the other hand is literally the same effect I can get by diluting Vallejo paint with water.
Personally i haven't found anything else i prefer over contrast paint. A shame because they are damn expensive!
Unless the water you use is different from everyone else's, I very much doubt that.
I dilute my Vallejo Model Colors with water, and distilled water, and medium (various types and brands, even speedpaints medium), AND, it doesn't even come CLOSE to what Contrast/Speedpaints can do.

@@99Plastics "literrally just paint with water" Hahah. The sheer amount of ignorance.
Bleeding? You mean FREE BLENDING :D
;)
Speedpaints didn't bring anything that contrast paints didn't have? What about price? And it doesn't come from a morally bankrupt company.
No, they just sold you all the same paints again with 2.0, and they still have problems…
