Hi ABBY,
how are things going for you at this time?
I used to love watching "This Old House" on tv
Congratulations!! Keep focus on priorities. Foundation 1st, then Roof, then windows, then interior. Don't get into interior until Safe and sound.
Agreed! Thanks!
And waterproof!
Hope there is not wire and knob electricity
@@silverforest4682 once they rip out the plaster they will probably redo electric and bring it up to code?
Good advice. The basics are the most important...Put your best efforts and money there along with electrical and plumbing.
What great house!! I hope you are going to keep all those beautiful old dressers and sideboards
Yes, they look to be similar vintage to house and will do up beautifully.
Count me in on following along! I love your enthusiasm and joy!! When a girl can walk into a room where the wallpaper hangs from the ceiling with slats shining forth in all their grubbiness and see potential, you have won 1/2 the battle!! God Bless You sweet girl!!
Haha yes!! Glad to have you !!
@@ADrillADream Its all about visualising the finished item, no matter what the project.
I am excited to see all you dreams come to life! Keep your vision in front of you!!
@@louisecassidy5991 Exactly what keeps me going.. I'm a single mom starting over living in a fixer upper I just purchased.
I applaud your initiative and appreciate your excitement.
I'm not much on a restore/rehab of such a large scale. Looks like *everything* is going to have to be updated, replaced or redone. Every square foot is going to have to be touched, fixed and rehabbed. That takes lot of planning, proper scheduling and time.
Given your existing skill set, the task is daunting and the time to work around 'issues' is long. The inevitable compromises and "do later" things just nag at you for years.
If you like the basic layout, then sketch out the dimensions and demolish/rebuild on existing footprint (how are those basement walls?) Save any windows, doors etc and refurbish/reuse them.
Replicate all the good and inspiring and start fresh. Starting from scratch has its own reward.
If decide to rehab then buy multiple disposable coveralls and 3M model 6000 respirators or Model 6900 respirators (with face guard).
N95 masks aren't up the tasks of protecting your lungs in this instance.
Good luck.
Great points.
I don't think she has a CLUE what she's in for. I hope she has DEEP pockets. Wishing her the best, though!
I thought the very same things! Her joy and enthusiasm is going to work to her favor. Tearing this down and rebuilding ( with all the reusing, recycling etc. possible) will produce the best house for the least amount of expense. As it is, her plan could bankrupt her in a heartbeat. The property itself looks absolutely beautiful.
I agree
@ Will Bass- DEFINITELY!! Wearing a proper respirator mask is a must, given that there will be mouse, rat feces in those old walls & ceilings. A health hazard in itself. But she probably knows this bc she has already been cleaning out the place & hates the grossness of dirt, grime & all that nastiness. I would too. Overall good advice, it's good to view the ups & downs of a major undertaking such as this.
And don't you dare get rid of those cool antique dressers!
Tons of history in that ol' girl. I hope you'll preserve some of it. Love the transoms, paned windows, and old hardware on the cabinets and doors. D'ya have a date when she was built? 'Summer kitchen' speaks to a completely different era. Good luck, and God Bless you in your venture.
Yeah I'd like to know too. And what country or state is it?
I subscribed and hit the bell before I started the video! Why you ask? 'Cause of your work with your Mom and Dad and the horses on their channel AND their newsletter! Your enthusiasm sparkles and I have some nieces about your age with the same kind of artsy ideas and energy and humour! I'm looking forward to seeing you reach your dream. I'm also looking forward to the cast of characters you'll have !!!
I'm smiling here.
I subscribe before seeing anything also. I wish I was younger to do what your doing however at my age I’ll be content living the dream thru you!
Thanks for subscribing! It’s All very exciting!
I absolutely adore this young lady and her Beautiful Attitude toward this very challenging project. She's not a typical, modern woman. She's a well Nutured and Blossomed Soul. So Blessed, young Lady.
Congratulations! I admire your ambition.
I'm no expert but I'd advise you make sure it's weatherproof first before you invest too much time on the interior. Also, buy lottsa masks. There's bound to be a bunch of inhalation hazards in there.
The stream is awesome and the rock walls are very cool. Time to buy a metal detector.
Thanks for the suggestions. I already bought masks and have been putting them to good use!!
I’d also check with the local history museum folks to find out more about the history of the rock walls and what existed there in the past. Do you own all the land down to the river? What an awesome spot! I hope you have some $$ put aside for restoration, there’s a lot!
Yes, there are sure to be lead paint issues as well.
The main reason for all the doors is to shut off the house to keep lower areas warmer have a day love ❤ from TEXAS
Congratulations on your new property. You have loads of work ahead of you. With lots of blood, sweat, tears and expletives! Don’t get discouraged, the easy part is the demo! Good luck and will be glad to follow your success
Thanks!
Love the house. You should call it Potential Farms. Maybe needs to have a 1/2 bath upstairs? The leaded glass in the front window looks beautiful. A sitting area adjacent to the river.
Congrats Abby! The grounds are gorgeous and the house will be beautiful when you get it done! Keep your enthusiasm and enjoy the journey. Knowing at the end that you made it happen will be so worth it!
So true! Thanks!
So happy to have found your channel. I love seeing what others do with old houses. Thank you for rescuing this gem in the making. I look forward to watching your journey.
Excited for the journey!

I'm excited Abbey. This is going to be a fun project for you, and really fun for us to watch.
I will be with you on the journey. Looks like I will be with you for the next 20 years. What a lot of work ahead for you and I'm sure Mum and Dad will be there to help but I can see the end result will be awsome.
Glad to have you along!

What a beautiful property I look forward to following along and seeing the progress as you go on your dream home. And those stone walls are so neat.
Congratulations on your new home. It’s so exciting and I can’t wait to see you living in your dream home.
I am so excited for you. I ♥️ the sound of the creek and I look forward to following you on this journey. You were left with some really nice furniture pieces that could have refinishing potential. It will be beautiful and I love your vision. All the best to you.
I'm enjoying your excitement...Love this new place and all your ideas for improving and making it a home. Beautiful property.
Beautiful! That creek, omg!!
I'm so excited for you! When you can walk into a place and see the beauty through all the damage & defects, you're doing something your passionate about. Loved how you got excited over the cool things; light switches, grates, and those stone walls! Looking forward to following your journey.
Congratulations Abby !
your house has so much character that old houses usually have. I love the wainscoting in the food pantry I would love to find a house like that and the bay window in the living room they're beautiful.
Having watched your Dad and Mom for quite a while, I am sure you are used to hard work. Having done many old house purchases myself, I am aware of how much work you will have to get you home to be livable. I suggest you do the weatherproofing work first so there will be no mare weather/water damage. Then do whatever foundation work needs to be done so that what you rebuild, it will stay in place. You will need all new plumbing and electrical. Then figure out your heat source. You have a multi year project ahead of you. At least you have a family source for wood products. God bless you and your dreams. Keep yourself healthy as you have a lot of work ahead of you. Jim Robinson
Congratulations it will be very exciting following you on this journey, I look forward to it
Come over from your dads channel and subscribed. Beautiful place and look forward to seeing you turn it into a home. God bless
So happy for you!!! Love it! I can see a fire pit sitting area in your woods/stone wall garden!
I excited for you and looking forword to following your journey!
Love your energy and excitement. Remembering how I felt when I purchased my own first house. I did that on my own, too. Blessings on you and your dreams.
What a cute house. Nice architectural details. I even like the green paint.
"WOW" that is going to be awesome to redo & LOVE the stone walls & the Brook is just beautiful & full of ideas!! I will be happy to follow your new journey, Abby. Your Dad is one of my vav vidoes to watch in the evenings. Love his new horse :) I guess Dad's got alot of work ahead of him...LOL

Fun! Lots of work, but I can see your vision. It will be magnificent!
Yes, girl! Subscribed! Also, looks like there is a LOT of gorgeous antique furniture left behind. ❤And that shed wood can be reclaimed to make so much stuff. Yay!
Some gorgeous old furniture all around!! Cool!!
I hope the best for you Abby. Good friends and family can make this happen. Thank you for sharing.

Yep ... the stones ... lots of potential.
Congrats on getting your new place. Can't wait to see the changes you will make.
Thank you!
Abbey, I love your enthusiasm! What a beautiful find, brings back a lot of memories of houses I've helped with and those I've lived in.The gutting, plastering and even roofing. Makes me wish I were young again! Good luck with the endeavor.
Love your style and your family.
You could have a wedding venue with that gorgeous wall absolutely photo shoot area! Wow! What potential and the photo shoot idea doesn’t need lots just a way to get to it safely and the rustic unfinished look of it is what is perfect you could start making extra money right away! Or think summer bluegrass festival! Wow
Great idea!
Congratulations on your new home. Will follow you every step of the way. Love the stone walls and brook.
Thanks Diane!
Go for it - I'm with you!! Beautiful Joy! One little bit at a time .
It’s so exciting Congratulations on your new home!
Very cool. Those walls were a sawmill or a grist mill. What beautiful scenery May your plans and dreams come true
Thank you!
It’s going to be awesome cant wait for you to get started!
Same!!
I just found you four months in on your journey and I can’t wait to get caught up on your videos!
I can’t wait to see your amazing house turn into your beautiful home. I’m so excited to watch your journey happen.
. Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
God bless from Tennessee! ♥️
This is exciting! I can't wait to watch the transformation
Love this house, what an exciting project for you to take on! My Dad used to renovate old properties here in the U.K., so I am used to seeing houses in their raw state - you have so much potential with this house. I am going to enjoy watching you work through the house, it’s going to be fabulous!! Good luck! X🇬🇧❤️
Thank you!! I love it too, can’t wait to see it back in its former glory!
@@ADrillADream be patient, steady as she goes. Could be long battle. Highs and lows.
Love the stream and stone walls. Good ideas. Looking ward to watching you transform. So much potential.
And if Abby can find out more about the history of the house and the grounds, it would be great! Wondered if at one time, it was a CW battleground?
I am hoping to get some info from the local historical society on the walls!
An amazing project. Cant wait to binge watch.
Congratulations on your new property, I see great potential and looking forward to following your journey.
Abby, look into possibly keeping 3 bedrooms in the house in your re-design. Two is not enough for re-sale. Very excited for you. All the best!
Good luck with your home restoration. You need to get your Dad Jim with a Brush Hog to clear the overgrown grass and brush!
Goats!
@@shopshop144 I didn't think of goats, good idea!
Abby, Congratulations! I love this house and location! Can’t wait to see it all finished!
Congratulations🎉All the best! Looking forward to seeing 🎥your journey with it🪜🪚🔨 🇨🇦🤠🐴
Congratulations! Love your new channel, we will be watching your transformation of the house with great interest! My husband and I have owned 5 houses, and are now living in a sixth. I love old houses, their history and cool little features and quirks. Love the “push button” light switches! You have a ton of work ahead of you, most likely some unpleasant surprises (just part of any house renovation), everything takes longer than you think, and you have to sink a LOT of money into the un-fun stuff like wiring, plumbing, foundation, roof, structure, heating, etc. But in the long run, it’s worth it to have it all solid, safe and properly done. It’s tempting to try to save money on that stuff but go with the best quality, you’ll never be sorry. Anyway, that’s been my experience, and I imagine you already know all this, so have fun, be patient and we’ll be cheering you on! It’s going to be a lovely house!
Thanks for the advice !
You can buy up to code push button light switches that with work with your original cover plates. My home was built in the 1920's and had beautiful cover plates that matched hinges, grates, and other features in our home. You can find them on-line.
@@sandyschultz-steele4610 Good to know. You can order almost anything online today, can't you? It's so sweet!
Congratulations Abby! You had me at Babbling Brook 😄 That is Heavenly! Thank you for taking us on this journey with you. I can't wait to see the progress. I bet if you decorate that large rock wall with a green and white flower like gardenias that would be a beautiful backdrop for a wedding 😉
That sounds lovely!!!
Such a charming house. Can't wait for you to get started.
Looking so forward to following you on this journey. With your enthusiasm and youth you will enjoy the work and seeing your dream come true.
Oh my goodness Abby! Your new house is a diamond in the rough. I’m so happy for you! I love your enthusiasm and open minded visions of the potential you have here. The stream and rock walls are just beautiful! I’m looking forward to following your journey. Stay excited and determined to see this huge project to fruition. Blessings to you from Arkansas!
Thanks!
Your Dad's Sawmill is really going to come in handy! Looking forward to your build. DON'T EVER GIVE UP! Maybe your Dad should name the new stallion "Spunk", in honor of your endeavor. You may have some hidden treasures on that property, get yourself a metal detector.
True! I will pass that suggestion along haha
Usually there are surprises under the floor boards.... coins etc!
Great idea for new horse name!!
You might want to save as much clapboard as possible to go on the outside of the master bedroom. It probably isn’t the same size as the new stuff.
I will love seeing your progress!!
Good for you Abby. go a head make your dream home come true. Enjoyed to see you so excited.
abby so nice to see you. congratulations on your home . here in nova scotia people are doing the same thing you are ,buying old homes and abby, when they are done they look beautiful. and your home abby , will look beautiful too. abby when you are done , you come tired from work and sit on your new deck, the sound of your brook will ease your troubles away. god bless you, hi to trudy jim dartmouth nova scotia ,canada.
Sounds wonderful!!
I'd recommend that you keep the old doors and as much of the wide pine door frames as possible. Nice furniture. see if you can keep the leaded glass as well. the house looks like it was built in the early 1900's or about 1920.
Agreed! Keep as much as is salvageable. You can store it until you want it…and you will.
THIS!! a good paint stripper and muscle will get them back to their original selves. cannot get great doors like this anymore
Congratulations on your home and the beautiful location! I will be following your progress.
How exciting for you! This will be gorgeous. Congratulations! I'm excited to follow along. ❤
This place is HUNGRY for you Abby !!! I think it is aching for you to claim it for your own AND make your dreams come true here. Often, places like yours are so responsive to mindful demolition because some areas are in the process of self demolition, so to speak. This place is FABULOUS !!! How big is the lot? Perhaps you might have the time to show us a quick plot plan drawing showing the house, sheds and boundary of your land with the stream running through it. I agree with you. This is exciting and please be careful of poison ivy. xo Claire
Thank you Claire! I agree with you, I think she’s ready for a makeover 😁.
LOVE it!!!!! We are still building 12 years later so if you need any ideas on how to do things just holler, we have learned alot! Enjoy the process!
Hey Christa! Thanks for watching, I am SUPER excited about it!! I will keep that in mind and I will have to get ahold of you when it comes time for electric stuff!
God bless. You on your journey .I will come along with you from Oregon . Love the leader glass front window hope you can keep it and put another one on top to keep out the wind. Good luck.
Go for it young lady, you brightened up my day cheers
The house looks as though it was designed and built with love and would come back to life with you.
Definitely! Thanks!
When you tear down the shed on the end of the house, think about keeping the weathered boards. They’re a nice material to put up in the house or build with.
I can totally see your vision. Looking forward to seeing everything come into fruition. Thanks for taking us along for the journey.
Thank you! Can’t wait to see my dreams come to life!
Fabulous home with lots of great furniture left behind! This should be fun!!
I am so excited for you!! What a wonderful dream! On the more practical side, you need advice from a building inspector, and an architect, and you should find out what historical information you can find on your beautiful stone walls, and have their structural integrity checked out. Also, find out about possible flood potential. Those building professionals might cost money, but will be worth it. You might find a local school that teaches building trades or architecture that would be able to advise. I have worked in historical preservation, and so look forward to watching your progress. Good luck! (you'll need it. LOL)
Thanks for the suggestions!
Congratulations Abby looking forward to watching the adventure. And the progress of your dream home. I'm guessing there's some very interesting history with all the stone walls I be curious to hear that.
Thank you! I have contacted the local historical society so I’m hoping to find out more history about it!
@@ADrillADream Great ... seems you thought about everything. Loveble project to follow.
Cool, let us know what they say, sometimes the local farmers know even more, the old timers.
Girl, I love your enthusiasm and vision.
Girl...I'm loving your dream! Can't wait to follow along!
So glad you found your house! I’m actively looking for mine. You have a sweet setup there. Definitely have your hands full but with the right attitude, patience, and the right time line it’ll be awesome. I have a camper van capable of off grid so that’s where I would stay during renovation, lol.
Ooh! A butler’s pantry 😮. Looks like you have some antiques in there as well. You should see if there’s anything salvageable if it’s your style or sellable. You should also check with the historical society or land records office to see if they have maps of the property from further back to answer those questions about the wall. They would make great artwork as well.
Where’d you find this gem, if you don’t mind me asking? I’m willing to move, 😁. Price point if not too nosy. And how much land? Zoning? Can you homestead? New sub.
How exciting for you Abby. Gosh your going to be a busy girl.
May I ask how many acres of land surround the house? Love the stone walls and the babbling brook.
So excited for you! That house has so much potential.
I love that brook ! And those walls and waterfalls !
You are going to do an awesome job!
Thanks Ma
Ah ha.😄
Brenda!, I am so Proud of You Guys. And your Beautiful Daughter.
:-)
So easy to fall in love with that incredible setting. Please be cautious with the demolition process. Wear lots of PPE. I can only imagine the contamination in those walls. I think the old light switches are so cool. It would be neat to see if you can retro-fit those to use with modern wiring. Wish I lived in the states as the history found in the ground around your old house will be a lot of fun to discover. Have fun with your project. I know it will be a huge success. I'm excited to be here to see the start!
... we see «metal detecting» in your user's name ... hmm, Great ground to search around the first set of rocks ...
Push button switches are still available, and built to better standards than many of the old ones.
Yes I would love to keep that switch if possible! Thanks for watching!
I’m with you on this adventure! It’s going to be so much fun to watch the transformation.
I'm enchanted by this home. Keep up the positive thinking🙂
