Those box blade tines can be flipped over so it wont gouge the ground. That would be the way you would use the box blade when you only want to smooth the ground. The tines are usually used when you want to break up the dirt.😊

Be sure to grab a picture of all the serial numbers on the tractor and attachments, for security/insurance. When I mow I leave the front bucket off and remove the box blade, makes it much easier to manuever. Another thing I do, besides checking oil each time and greasing it regularily, is to blow off the dust and grass before you put it away. Last thing I'd mention is that your bucket is for lifting not pushing, they're just not strong enough to be a bull dozer.

Abby I’m a 69 year old handy woman! I do all the lawn and barn and housework. My husband has MS and has been unable to help much at all for the last 8-10 years!
Absolutely leave your bucket on! You will use it everywhere on your property! We had big hooks welded on the top edge of the bucket and that is SO, So helpful for moving things! You can use a chain and move almost anything! I definitely would take off the box blade, more sporadic use. RUclips, of course, is an excellent tool for your tractor questions! Love it!
Continue on learning, I learn new skills every day! Take care!

Having owned a Kubota for many years, I would highly recommend removing the box blade. Most of the driveway smoothing tasks a box blade was designed for can just as easily be done with the front end loader. The main use I found for my box blade was as a counterweight when I was lifting very heavy loads with the front end.

Good choice of first tractor. If you keep up with the maintenance it's going to last you a lifetime. One bit of advice, when you are done with the tractor make sure to lower all of the hydraulic parts, overtime the seals and O-rings will wear out, this will help to make them last longer and if one were to fail and say a cat was to be napping under the bucket he would have a very bad day when it comes crashing down on his little 😊.

For sure take the box blade off when mowing. When you lift and lower the mower deck it also lowers the rear 3 point hitch (the box blade) which may cause it to drag behind on the ground.
Tip for the front end loader. Get a couple pallets and stack them up. Then lower your bucket on to the pallets. Then use the quick connect to disconnect the bucket. Having it up off the ground will make it much easier to remove and install. Taking the bucket off will help you get so much more clearance when mowing.
I’m jelly I want a new Kubota. Maybe next year happy mowing.

Even with our 100hp tractor and loader - we take the bucket off all the time when farming. Its so easy to just hook the bucket up when you need it and its so much easier to see and work without it on. And yes taking the whole loader off, while easy to do, yes makes it too easy to skip jobs because its a nuisance to put the loader on and off. But the bucket is a non-issue. Good luck.

Hi Abby from our ⛵⛵ Lakes Region New Hampshire farm. We choose an oversized double carport. It cost around 2K in 2018. You could place it lengthwise on your expanded parking spot to pull vehicles underneath, as well as the tractor. Also, being next to the patio area, it would be a great place to put a picnic table and have shade or be out of the rain on a misty day. We love ours. It was cost effective and does a good job of keeping the snow off our vehicles. We made our carport about 2 1/2 vehicles wide with a good clearance height to the roof. ~ Diane

Abby, you can raise the rakes or take off instead of removing the scrapper. Always fold your bucket forward and place it on the ground when parked. It will keep the water from collecting in your bucket. Also lower the scrapper when parked. Takes the load off your hydraulics. Safety factor also if kids are around.

Good little workhorse machine. I've had mine for a little over 2 years now and I've done so much at my property. Its paid for itself several times over with the amount of work I've been able to do myself vs. paying someone else. FYI: I've found that removing the entire loader to mow.. is more of a hassle and it's way easier to just remove the bucket.

Try to go forward even if you have to make another pass, the tractor will last much longer by not constantly changing gears. Obviously you will have to back up but just a tip. It will also last longer if you don’t have too many people driving it.

I bought my first Kubota about 12 years ago. It was a used BX-23. I traded that for a new Bx-25 then went and got a cabbed B3030 for winter use. Other than a few safety switch glitches on the BX, no issues whatsoever. If I had to make any recommendations: Don't cheese up when it comes to maintenance. Buy nothing but Kubota-brand hydraulic oil and engine oil and hydraulic filters. And if you decide to load the rear tires, look at foaming them before using beet juice. This way you will never worry about tire pressure or getting a flat. And get a couple of utility hooks welded onto the front bucket. They are like money in the bank.

You'll get the hang of it. It all takes time. Just a side note if you don't have a ballast box you're probably going to want to keep that box blade on most of the time if you're doing loader work. Otherwise it could get a little light in the back end. Also if you're doing loader work put it in four-wheel drive and keep it in low. Also if you get a chance get pallet forks for it Those things are a game changer. Anyway that's the end of my unsolicited advice. Enjoy your new tractor there's tons of videos on RUclips to watch about it. And they're awesome little machines.

You have a long way to go on the tractor but you have a great attitude and that helps tremendously. Take the box blade off to mow and at least the bucket if not the entire loader. In time you'll learn about zero turns and then you'll never use that mid mount mower again. A box blade is a great tool AND a great counter weight. Put it on whenever you want to lift anything heavy with the loader.

Turtle is your friend when using the loader or the box blade. You do not need counter weights you have the box blade. take the box blade off to cut grass, it is easy with the hitch you have. You can use the box blade with the mower deck on. The dial under your seat on the right side says TOP, Lift the mower deck all the way up and twist the dial to top, the mower deck will not move while using the 3 point hitch. Hope that helps.

One of my old neighbors had a Kubota B-series tractor for many years, he eventually traded it in on an LX-series....he never had any problems with them, and after he passed away and they did an estate auction that tractor sold for almost as much as he paid for it 12 years prior.
So, when I finally decided it was time for me to buy a tractor I knew I wanted a Kubota. I only have an acre of property so I don't need a very large tractor. I bought the Kubota BX2680. I'd never used a tractor, never been on a tractor up until the salesman delivered the tractor to my property. The only thing I'd ever used was a riding lawn mower LOL. So the tractor was a pretty big learning experience. That was in 2021....even now I'm still learning things with it. I got the tractor loader, pallet forks, box blade, 60" mid mount mower, and roto-tiller. I can say it was the best $26,000 purchase I could have made. I use it a lot, and I use the pallet forks far more than I actually use the bucket....the mower and box blade get used quite a bit as well.
Something I finally did was purchased a ballast box for the 3 point hitch. The box blade or any other implement back there sticks out so far that it gets in the way sometimes, plus none of the rear implements I have are actually heavy enough to properly ballast the tractor for loader work. There were things I couldn't pickup with my tractor that it should be able to lift, but I couldn't because I didn't have enough weight on the back of the tractor to do so without tipping it over....the ballast box was the best purchase idea I had for the tractor that wasn't an implement LOL. I could list about 350 pounds and that was getting pretty tippy with just the roto-tiller or box blade on the back. With the ballast box filled with sand, I'm now able to lift around 500-550 pounds easily and not have the tippy feeling at all.
You will love your Kubota once you get used to it. The only thing with the BX1880 is it has a smaller engine, but the lift capacities for the loader and the 3 point hitch are the same as the BX2380 and BX2680. They do make a great lawn mower for larger lawns, a bit overkill for my yard, but I can use it if I need to.
The quick hitch is nice, when you have an implement that is quick hitch compatible....many implements are not, or require some modifications to make them compatible. I have the same quick hitch for my Kubota as well, it works when it works, but its a PITA when you get an implement that isn't compatible. I now have a 2nd quick hitch that I just use for the ballast box because the Kubota quick hitch don't work with it. The nice thing is, the quick hitch I got for the ballast box is a bit more adjustable to different implements so it'll work on another implement I have that don't work with the Kubota quick hitch.
When mowing you'll want to take the box blade off, and the loader off. The mower lift and the 3 point hitch raise and lower together, so you'll need to take the box blade off when you are mowing. Taking the loader off allows you to get a little closer to stuff, and reduces the weight of the tractor as well.
Whenever you are using the loader make sure you at least have the box blade on the back for ballast...I'd really buy a ballast box.
The loader comes off and goes on pretty easily too....I use my push mower around the trees and border of my yard then us the tractor/mower for the rest. I mow in low range, it goes plenty fast enough in low range, gets way too bouncy in high range LOL.
I think the BX1880 can be equipped with the 48 or 54 inch mower deck. I would have recommended the 54" deck as it allows you to get closer to obstacles as the deck hangs out further from the sides of the tractor, the 48 inch deck barely sticks out past the belly of the tractor so you really gotta cut in close to everything. With my BX2680 and the 60" mid mount mower it does great because you have quite a bit of deck sticking out the side to be able to trim closer to obstacles.
It will definitely take some practice to get used to operating the tractor, but once you get the hang of it you'll wonder why you didn't buy one sooner....been there myself...now anytime I need to move something, or transport something around my property I just go get the tractor, no heavy lifting anymore. I named my tractor "My expensive fancy wheelbarrow". I throw tools in the loader bucket when I'm out working on stuff on the other side of the property, I use that tractor for just about everything when I got chores to do.

Congrats, please, please, please keep the Machine in a Shed, out of direct weather. Doing this will add Life to the Machine and reduce Maintenance costs. Also, be on the look out for Bird Nests, Mice Nests, Squirrel Damage, Etc. 😃

Way to go Abby! I burst out laughing when in I saw the pic of your tractor because you really need one for your acreage. The funny part is you’ve never dreamt of being a Kabota model but it works!!

Great choice of tractor. I have a Kubota BX 23 that I bought new 16 years ago. Never had any problems with it . Glad to see you fasten your seatbelt!!! I have a backhoe on mine. Another wonderful attachment. If you take the box blade off you will either have to add weight on the rear or run in 4WD all the time. If you don't when you start downgrade with front bucket loaded, the rear wheels will start sliding, and that is very DANGEROUS !!! Please be careful. It's not a toy !! Stay safe and God bless you !!!! Eddy

Hi Abby, good size for Landscaping work. Find a Brush Hog or Lon mower for your little Kubota. You will find that you need a much bigger machine for some temporary applications. Hiring or renting will be Beter in the applications.

Congrats on your new tractor! How fun! Now you have to name her 😂 our John Deere lawn tractor I named Skog (it means forest in Norwegian…by the time we mow, the 2 acres are basically a forest 😂🤣).

Tractor is really nice. You should be able to pull an pin an raise the plow points on the box blade so they do not cut into your lawn

kudos on kubota! What about the utility door side of the house? Drainage is essential...Get that addressed before you do the back. It will keep your basement dryer.....you need egress to that area. Would the veggie garden work better in the front of the big shed? Where will your water hose be connected?
