Get well soon! You have built up a lot of good will with all these videos. It will it all come back to you. I have spent many hours enjoying your channel.
Wow Sean! I hope you get better soon....thank you for passion and dedication to continuing your videos. I am in awe of your commitment. Take care and get well soon.
I didn't comment when I originally watched this, but wanted to come back and say thank you for bringing this episode to us. It is sooo fascinating to me and I absolutely loved learning and seeing behind the scenes. I am working on a project to hybridize species within the Asclepias (milkweed) genus and have come to the thought that the reason the industry never commercialized/improved the plants is not because of their complicated pollination, but because most of them are impossible to root from cuttings. I wonder if the TC method would work as a viable alternative
Some genus are notoriously difficult to TC. I believe hoyas are one such example and thats why they were not seen in TC… philodendrons are easy but anthuriums are very difficult… i guess it boils down to the species…
My respect and admiration to you and your content it’s so educational and I appreciate your dedication hardwork in educating us..Nan and suwat are great humans kind loving and very intelligent plant lovers..thank you for your work.
I dont know the exact science but its genetics. You have to be lucky enough to get part of the meristem cell that carries variegation information to pass it along…
I've really enjoyed these 2 videos. It's so interesting seeing how a larger, but still family run, nursery and lab works. But holy cow, dengue fever!? That's a big deal. So glad to see that you are recovering. Isn't it doused to feel like you're bones are breaking!?
They were much smaller when they entered those bottles. And with use of tiny pincers. In a sterile covered work area, this process of bottling them is probably not fun lol
Followed you! This is so interesting! I do have a question. I’d love to experience watching TC plants grow. Do you ever sell them at earlier stages, like a common plant, for a newbie to play with?
You would have to direct this to Nan. Her instagram is on the video description 😀 you could alternately find something in your area, with less shipping costs.
Im assuming you meant tissue taken from the woody bark of the tree? The highest success would be to take a cell from the seed, or flower, or apical bud in that order. But its always possible… with the right formula
I agree. It was really hard to get super long forceps. That was in the 1980s. I recently tried an internet search and after 30 years, they still haven't come online. But she's wrong on two counts. We already hand made large forceps in 1985, and I was micropropagating orchids in 1983. It was my first job, just.. Signed Adelaide, South Australia
I am intrigued by this video and would like to learn more about tissue culture. I just don't understand how it works. I am a curious person when it comes to this type of operation. NOT in the sense that I want to try it BUT how it works. Maybe you can figure out a way to get me to understand the process. Thanks for another Great video !!!!!!!!! P.S. Get well quick !!!!!!!!! ♥️ 🪴♥️🪴♥️🪴♥️🪴♥️🪴♥️🪴♥️🪴
I will get into the technicalities gradually in this channel, so as not to overwhelm the viewers. Its actually not too difficult to understand (but very hard to actually do physically)
Have you recovered now I'm praying for you for a healthy healing.... watching you from Zimbabwe.....pls demostrate the best potatoes Tissue culture medium
Just a little question about doing TC in an apartment. I support a college student that is looking for a clerk pt job. I was hoping to convince her to do this TC at home. I see other students experimenting at home with TC, on RUclips.
I've just found this video after taking interest in tissue culture. Knew many orchids were grown this way when I was a kid, but I'm curious what other plants van be grown this way. I didn't quite capture it but she mentioned something like Taikon? Daikon? How do you spell that, as I wanna research on it more. 😅 I was able to check out joepii, though. Found it interesting as I've seen similar plants growing by a stream at our area.
Nearly all plants can be tissue cultured, they have slightly different formulations and methods. It just depends on how much interest and effort has gone into Tissue culturing it 😀
Very nice people. Taken as a whole this is a good context for people interested in plant tissue culture... But I have to object to the statement " you must kill a lot before you are good ... " or some such wording. That is just not true. Let us educate ourselves and learn from others. We will not be experts and perhaps there will be some death but I wish to instill an inner voice of confidence in all my students. This is a wonderful and rewarding occupation. AND I hope you recover from Dengue Fever swiftly. Please do share your experience. With an Warming Earth comes the spread of hitherto unfamiliar diseases... the more information we can glean from your experience the better.
Im not familiar with the import procedures… i have a feeling flask would be far easier than importing live plants. I would reach out to a supplier that exports and also check with your local customs.
Dear Sean sorry to hear that you are sick with dengue fever. I have read many many times that it is easy to cure by boiling 3 papaya leaves from a papaya tree and add it to water and make a tea and drink it.
I have to say that I admire your dedication to providing content while in the hospital. Much respect. I hope you feel better soon.
Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Tissue culture is just a great way to make "rare" plants more accessible to everyone.

Thank you, Im ok now 😀
8:00 If they are tissue cultures from the same mother plant, why do some come out variegated and others don't? Is it an epigenetic thing?
I dont know the exact science but its genetics. You have to be lucky enough to get part of the meristem cell that carries variegation information to pass it along…
I think it is about selecting the right explants
good generated of plants... fast methode and i like that process....

Truly inspiring Thanks for sharing...!!!
Yaye
4:47 Nine months! damn that is a long time to grow things in agar and keep them sterile, kinda makes you wonder if it's worth it.
It is hehe. Many of our crop foods are actually grown this way. And also ornamental plants. Its only starting to reach the rare plant market now
Hope your doing better. 💚 This was so interesting 💚💚💚
Yeapp I’m right as rain now thank you

Praying for your speedy recovery. 🙏I heard a home remedy that baby papaya leaves to boil and drink 4 times a day.
Thank youuuu. yes Ive heard of this remedy 😀
Very interesting! I just wanted to know how did they squeeze those plants into those bottles? 😁
They were much smaller when they entered those bottles. And with use of tiny pincers. In a sterile covered work area, this process of bottling them is probably not fun lol

How do you remove the plant tissue cultures from the big bottle with narrow top and I think a cork lid (looks like a wine or drinking bottle)?
I guess a pincer or potentially ye break the bottle 🙈
Should have include a tutorial on how to treat the seedlings after receiving them too cos that's more imp to buyers like us on the receiving end.
May do a full video on that soon 😀

How do they get the seedlings out of the long glass bottle? The opening is so small for the grown plants.
They may have to break the glass 😅 also Nan showed us the little pincers that her dad designed so maybe that helps!
Ooh that was so cool to see behind the scenes. You never see that.
Hope you get better soon!
Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽
get well soon sean... 🙏
Thank youu
She is smart and beautiful!
Yes. Also hardworking and fun loving. Overall a very balanced and wholesome human being
Is it possible to grow fruit from a bit of skin or rind?
Wooh I have no idea. I would imagine the seed is the best option. Next would be the apical bud, flower, leaf, or stem tiasue.
I need to learn this for propagating my vanilla orchid’s
Ohhh yes I bet they do well in TC. Orchids are widely propagated this way
Just a little question about doing TC in an apartment. I support a college student that is looking for a clerk pt job. I was hoping to convince her to do this TC at home. I see other students experimenting at home with TC, on RUclips.
🙏🏻 Dear Sean, stay strong and get well soon. Remember to stay hydrated and eat more Papaya.
Thank youu
I would have loved to learn some of the process.
