now it just may be me, but i thought Nane had the best, most exciting trot on that second time around. he was just spectacular.

I’ve had my Friesians since 2001, I’ve watch these beautiful horses go through a gradual change in breeding to be more light & high strung. I prefer the original baroque style, they had a calm sound mind, & gentle nature. My star stallion was bomb proof, a small child could ride him. I could ride right next to mares in season & could easily control him, & he was a live cover breeder. He was a gentle giant & very handsome, & easily bonded with me when I bought him at 15. He passed at 24 & I miss him terribly. He was from the Age line which is purposely being phased out, the original Friesian is no longer, which is a shame.
I agree that stallions should be calm and steady.
Linda, I’m sure there are a few Baroque Friesian’s left, but not many, as I said they are dying out because the Age line is dying out. There are what is called the Classic but they are lighter with less feathers, than the Baroque, I still have one of those. But the Sport type is most popular now days.
@@GaeColt Are you referring to Friesians bred in the US? I'm sure there are Dutch breeders (and across the world!) who strive to continue the lineages of that classic, baroque horse. Uniek herself is classical, as is many of the mares at Stal G. Saly comes to mind. Sjirkje & Pjirkje, as well as Sanne Aukje, Rinske etc...when they were still there.
@@alliechampagne1404 I am referring to all registries, Dutch, German & American. My Friesians are or were Dutch registered. I think because the lighter sport Friesian was popular with the dressage community.
I am not a scientist or a geneticist but I think the baroques carried more genetic defects is part of the reason why we see less baroques ....yvonne does genetic coefficient analysis and rules out matches that have genetic negative markers....I had three baroques died before they were 14 due to classic genetic disorders....I think they die at at a younger age in the Usa

Nane has since also become the sire of little Reina. I love her! So sweet and jett black for such a young foal.
And Frieda’s foal Tsjerk. Which makes Jildou both his half-sister and aunt lol
The size of the crowd is amazing, you would never see that in the US.
I agree. I live in Lexington, home of the Kentucky Horse Park, the National Horse Show (hunter/jumper) and many, many national championship and important regional shows for lots of other breeds, and at best there are a smattering of people in the stands. Pretty much only the participants are there, watching each other. When the World Equestrian Games came here years ago, it was a terrible failure, and the sponsors lost millions of dollars, because NOBODY CAME! At least we got a beautiful new arena, outdoor jumping/dressage stadium, and lots of new stables out of it.

Ah man, I wanted Nane to win lol. But all the horses looked so handsome! I just was enjoying the music as well, we are on lockdown in South Africa, so this was my "nightclub" moment for the day lmao.

I loved them all! Matthys 504 was flashy. Superb action, lovely conformation! Menne 496 was also fabulous, great hind limb movement! I've paused & posted this before the results....now to see them...*paused again* YES! MY CHOICES STAY IN THE RING! Ok, back to it...*paused* Definitely Matthys 504 is my favorite, his action is phenomenal! *continues* OMGOSH! HE WON!! I honestly did NOT skip ahead at all, guess I have a keen eye like the jury! I couldn't judge. I was laughing, because I was thinking through the first judging and on that Matthys knew he was going to win, because he couldn't contain his excitement. 😂

I liked Nane 492 best. But all are magnificent!
I liked Matthis' contour of his back....he stood a bit higher behind the shoulder..number 2 sagged ever so slightly. It is obvious on my vocabulary I am not a horse person :) but I love to watch them.
No wonder the foals are all so beautiful,with parents as gorgeous as these stallions. I couldn't imagine having to pick the best of the best.
For me it Nane and Matthys wow wanted to the end and it was Matthew gate is wow

Why do the attendants pull the horse's head away from the direction of travel? Sometimes, it looks like there is not a good match between the attendant and the horse. The attendant and horse aren't going at the same pace. Do the judges take into account a "poor" or "inexperienced" attendant? What are the attendants called?
We in Dutch call them voorbrengers. When the horse gets strong or goes to fast the head gets pulled to the side.
I LOVE Nane 492. Jurre 495 has so much reach and drive beneath himself from the rear! Tymen 503 is also beautifully balanced, reach and drive.

They are gorgeous but, I prefer to see them trotting around in the field. It all seems a bit manic and the horses get so wound up. Would they not trot round without all the chaps in white around them chasing them? Or is it more tradition to make big spectacle? Just curious. I show and judge dog's but It's a bit different. They must have good conformation, great temperament and show well in gleaming condition, but it's a bit calmer.lol. Is that what the judge/s are looking for in the stallions?
This is just one day at the year! They now mainly look at the movement and build of the horse. As a breeder, the temperament is certainly very important! 😄
