The sun came out for her debut, and it reminded me of how the sun shined when Yvonne and friends went to the clinic after Uniek passed away. Coralle is the biological mother, not a "step-mother". The legal definition of a biological mother, is the female who gives birth. Plus, she has nursed and cared for Belle. Queen Uniek is the genetic mother, but Coralle is the biological mothet.
I'm sure that Coralle considers Belle her foal. Animals are not complicated like we are. After all, she did all the labor and hard work with that. Although, on the night Belle was born and Uniek was looking at her, I wondered if Uniek felt a connection with the animal that she had conceived. It just seemed that way.
Coralle and Belle looked stunning. It’s such a big effort to take a young foal to an event like this her first time. It is great that you have so many friends to help out. It is not something you can do on your own. Belle did really well her first time out in strange surroundings. Poor Rinske was getting soaked with all that rain while unloading. It must have been exciting for the whole family to be able to go and participate in any way. Loved this video, I was on edge for everyone involved.

@@lstockton8468 many of the Friesians have a bit of a restriction in the ability of the shoulder to extend, which cannot be fixed or enhanced with training, it's inherent in conformation. Compare videos of Saly moving versus old videos of Uniek, who had gorgeous shoulder extension. Saly's shoulder extension is restricted and while training can help Saly make the most of what she has, training will never let her approach or match Uniek's effortless gait.
@@CynthiaSadler Thank you! A great shoulder is more difficult to attain in breeding than a great hindquarter. I'm not sure why this is so, all I know from watching horses for over 50 years that great forequarters are less common than great hindquarters and more difficult to breed for. Well, okay, I do know that shoulders are suspended by muscle, ligament and tendon alone while hindquarters have that nice ball and socket arrangement, which means that hindquarters are less tricky to put together, anatomically. The whole subject is complex and it boils down to the fact that there are way more genes involved in forming the forehand than there are in forming the hindquarters. But for this relatively ignorant layperson, it is more easily summed up as "I don't know why but great forehands are tricky and more difficult to breed for."

It is wonderful that Belle has such a caring and supportive stepmother.
Coralle is the biological mother, not a "step-mother". The legal definition of a biological mother, is the female who gives birth. Plus, she has nursed and cared for Belle. Queen Uniek is the genetic mother, but Coralle is the biological mothet.
I'm sure that Coralle considers Belle her foal. Animals are not complicated like we are. After all, she did all the labor and hard work with that. Although, on the night Belle was born and Uniek was looking at her, I wondered if Uniek felt a connection with the animal that she had conceived. It just seemed that way.

Belle did very well, trotting for the most part even though she was very nervous. 2nd premium!!

Coralle and Belle looked stunning. It’s such a big effort to take a young foal to an event like this her first time. It is great that you have so many friends to help out. It is not something you can do on your own. Belle did really well her first time out in strange surroundings. Poor Rinske was getting soaked with all that rain while unloading. It must have been exciting for the whole family to be able to go and participate in any way. Loved this video, I was on edge for everyone involved.

Agree---and this is her natural gait with no training. Imagine what she will be with her training under way!
@@lstockton8468 many of the Friesians have a bit of a restriction in the ability of the shoulder to extend, which cannot be fixed or enhanced with training, it's inherent in conformation.
Compare videos of Saly moving versus old videos of Uniek, who had gorgeous shoulder extension. Saly's shoulder extension is restricted and while training can help Saly make the most of what she has, training will never let her approach or match Uniek's effortless gait.

A great shoulder is more difficult to attain in breeding than a great hindquarter. I'm not sure why this is so, all I know from watching horses for over 50 years that great forequarters are less common than great hindquarters and more difficult to breed for.
Well, okay, I do know that shoulders are suspended by muscle, ligament and tendon alone while hindquarters have that nice ball and socket arrangement, which means that hindquarters are less tricky to put together, anatomically. The whole subject is complex and it boils down to the fact that there are way more genes involved in forming the forehand than there are in forming the hindquarters.
But for this relatively ignorant layperson, it is more easily summed up as "I don't know why but great forehands are tricky and more difficult to breed for."

Yvonne looked all game in this video. It is something she was really excited about. Her girls did great. Especially, considering it was most probably first time for Coralle and Belle is a very young foal.
