The stallion inspection 2020:
A warm welcome from Wiebe Wieling, Chairman KFPS
This Stallion Inspection marks the first official event in my capacity as new Chairman of the KFPS. And this is not just any event. Within a few weeks all tickets were sold out, with our own members having the first choice. The enormous interest for the Friesian horse is reflected in the Friesian Proms, with seats for both evenings occupied down to the last one.
Presently, the momentum for our Friesian horse is very good. A horse with a unique presence, a fantastic personality and the special gift to stir emotions in people. We breeders and owners have known this for a long time, but now the world around us - literally in over 80 countries - is also discovering the talents of the Friesian breed, not in the least because they are more and more prominently manifesting themselves in the sport.
During the Stallion Inspection everything comes together. With thanks of course to all entrants Jury members, volunteers and not to forget our sponsors. They are the ones who turn these wonderful days into a memorable event even before it has started. The involvement, emotion and the (worldwide) enthusiasm. It is a great event for meeting each other, exchanging knowledge and experiences and above all for enjoying fantastic horse, Friesian horses, our Friesian horses!

Beautiful. Wonderful. They are so well trained. ❤❤ perfection.
Fantastic display you don't have to be on their back to have a connection with the horses. I think horses are so much more at ease pulling people than the persons weight on their back. Friesians always like to please their human companions and excel with those who gives them exercises to play with and learn. For a very large muscular horse they have such an elegance poise and graceful movement.

That was fantastic.
I would love to be there to see this. It is quite a skill to drive these horses in formation like that. I understand Prince Philip of the UK's favorite hobby is driving a team. The team in the center have to almost just stay in one place as they rotate, so they must be very well trained to do all this. Thank you for sharing.

This reminds me of the royal Canadian mounted police when they perform. The precision of where each horse needs to be and when as not to cause a problem to the show is amazing and here they are doing it with carriages and double the horse that each rider is in charge of is just WOW.

The horses are impressive & beautiful. The drivers are very skilled. And the ladies look a bit like me when I ride in the passenger side of the car & try to stay upright when my husband takes the corner too tight. The pairs that are on the inside corners would seem to have the most difficult time. Looks complicated.

I’ve always wanted to know how Friesians are judged. Can’t find info. For eg, which of these stallions rank higher and why?

Well, let’s just say, there’s a reason, Frisians are all so darn gorgeous...the selection of the breeding stallions especially is a very involved process. There is lots of info on the KFPS website itself actually, but you really have to look for it and it’s in very small print 😄😉.

Rara Avis Thank you so much. It’s hard to translate conformation that is in writing to a real set of horses actually being compared to one another. This is my very favorite breed ever and I wish a breeder could actually point out the good and the not so good on actual horses.
