Man, the Pagemaster for Gameboy one should have deserved #1. If a developer today added a cryptic mini game that took a crap on their publisher for rushing them, they’d be toast, only during the pre-internet era could someone get away with something that raw
That screen found in Jump Start Baby looks suspiciously like it might be menu art from something else that used the engine. Perhaps they had an adventure game or something in the works that fell through and its code got re-used for their edutainment titles, accidentally leaving some of the art assets in the files.
That's most likely the case. i actually own the CD-Rom of this specific game and its nothing special in terms of quality. there's a ton of these games, so i would imagine they were churned out in the most cost effective way possible and this is a product of that
The “object” in Toad’s bedroom drawer in Origami Mario is a nod to SNES’ Super Mario RPG where if you open the Princess’s nightstand drawer…you will find an equally “phallic” object. I think the comment made by Toad when he opens the drawer is “What is this thing for?!?”
The item in Mario RPG is labeled as "Toadstool's ?????" in English or "Peach's XXXXX" in Japanese with no further explanation. Yeah, it could be what you're suggesting, but it is far more likely to be her panties. Unlike in Captain Rainbow, where you are asked by Birdo to find something to prove she's female, and the item ends up being a vibrator.
Not entirely how the event in SMRPG goes but it's likely a reference, yeah The item is called "Toadstool's ???" but can't actually be retrieved into the menu, but rather a Grandma Toad will give Mario a Mushroom for exchange, while Peach will scold him if she's in the party
On the subject of scrap mechanic, in the warehouses (basically dungeons) there are dead wocs (cows with udders on their head) stuffed into packing crates. So, there are some more dark elements to the game not directly touched upon.
The game is also clearly post-apocalyptic where all human settlements are destroyed/devoid of life and only murderous farm bots remain. Maybe the hanged man model was meant to be in one of those burnt down camps where you find one caged survivor.
Considering that Wallace's original actor, Peter Sallis, was on the TV show Last of the Summer Wine (think Golden Girls with a bigger cast and more British), I can definitely imagine him saying stuff like that.
Certainly interesting to see The Pagemaster, used to play the SNES version a lot and still own the cartridge. In one of the pirate levels I kept somehow activating the cheat mode (or at least the skip levels cheat) by going in and out of one of the areas a few times invalidating my playthroughs. Amusingly if you 'win' after using the cheats it not only calls you a cheater but a lot of the credits are also replaced with the word cheater as well.

Another interesting thing about Kairi's panty is that in the japanese version of KH2 Final Mix, the original PS2 version of it not the HD remaster, the panty was actually redesigned with a more detailed design than the original KH2 one. lol
Japan makes a game where the young girls have panties that can just barely be seen if you really go looking for them, this upsets the west. The west makes Cuties.
so, i think the wallice and gromett thing was just some bloopers, or some joke takes if i had to guess, it probably would have either been part of an easter egg, or a potential post credits scene that shows bloopers as for why they only show up in one specific level? idk, maybe that's where the easter egg/extras thing would be unlocked
me too lol, Cause I know bloopers exist for all the Sam and Max titles under TellTale and were animated as well. So hearing those lines made me instantly think they were left in bloopers. Idk if they were left in to be animated like the Sam and Max ones or accidentally left in by someone cause they were too funny not to keep. really hope that maybe more exist but I doubt.
Regarding the panties visible in KH, I can think of 2 reasonable explanations. The first is that there was a scrapped plan to add alternate costumes, like a swimsuit since it would be more revealing, so they had a more detailed model to make it easier, but after scrapping the idea, it wasn't worth it to go to a less detailed model, at least until they did ports and rereleases. The other possibility is that because the people that do the modeling don't always do other tasks when developing games, like coding or playtesting or sound design, or even their other tasks were reliant on unfinished tasks from others, and as such those working on the models might have not had stuff they could work on. Thus in their spare time, they added more details, just to practice while they had nothing else they could work on or because of talks of possible features where it would be useful (like the first idea). An example of this sort of thing is in Skyrim, the various bug jars you can find. The part of the team working on models and items wanted a quest to find them and had time to design them, but the part that worked on level designs or quests (can't recall) didn't have time to properly flesh it out and make it happen, thus the bug jars were made and placed around but with no purpose. Those are the sensible reasons, a scrapped idea, free time for practice modeling, or free time with hopes of a use.
the part models where created when memory was low, not just to be seen but to save space. even sheeze gets to the point to show full render eye balls you will never see behind a mask. or doom guy ruclips.net/video/LwQ6nt-D34E/видео.html&t also sqaure enix is a Japanese company, they use more complete models in a way, which is how i see it, fully model someone then add the clothing on top although i'm not sure how Character with half vs full unless they remove that part after the creation. because normally you create the whole character
Chances are the developers needed to model the entire lower body to have a reference for the hips (and how the dress would fold at the waist when the characters was animated). Rather than leaving an unsettling naked void of geometry, somebody went in and textured some underwear. It was probably more of a developer joke (making sure the girls weren't 'indecent' while working on the animations-- you wind up looking at models from all kinds of weird angles when you're keying in the poses) than evidence of any intended mechanics.
im surprised the KH thing was considered for this list. was pretty sure it was incredibly common for jp made games around that era to include visible undergarments like that. the reason for removal sounds like a Disney thing, as in they didint know about it until the internet made it known and they would not have approved of that to begin with.
yeah, it's in a lot of games TBH. It's simply reasonable attire. It's nothing that's meant to be "sexy". Quite the opposite, it's boringly normal. It's like adding socks to a character whose feet you have no reason to see.
Exactly this. Women are required to 'wear' underwear meshes in MOST Japanese games that are 3D modeled. Having them removed makes sense from a game standpoint but it's also funny that Disney probably didn't know until much later and demanded it.
Truthfully it's a lot more reasonable to have it. Imagine how awful it feels to have underwear be stigmatized like that as a girl and it's the very thing you yourself wear under your skirts. Makes it feel like it's somehow dirty when they feel they have to remove it and put a void there instead in the game. It's pretty ridiculous, just makes for more harmful mindsets than leaving the characters modelled realistically would.
HOLY CRAP!!!!! I am a Little Big Planet super-enthusiast and I never knew of those stickers!! Playing the games themselves, you kinda realize that the man covered in blood and the bleeding-eye cow aren't necessarily the most awful thing, but those stickers are seriously pushing it. So insane.
The desert tower is another item in long line of risqué objects in the paper mario franchise. In pretty much every instalment someone sends you on a fetch quest to give back very suspicious items. Two noteworthy ones are the “you know what” which appears to be a CD containing unknown data and toads “???”. There’s also a tape from the first game. The characters in paper mario LOVE their NSFW time
I think I still have the cartridge for Barneys hide & seek packed away somewhere in storage. I remember picking it out as a kid at k-mart which also no longer exists, but there were posters of barney inside that k-mart with him tied up and a bunch of dynamite around him. My childhood self was shocked that anybody would want to do that to him. My adult self is shocked that those posters existed in a store.
Barney Hide and Seek looks like one of those games that's actually a creepypasta and that goes from 0 to 60 real quick. The way you described it does not help.
I don’t know why I find this type of stuff so fascinating. It’s like when you hear about people finding a secret room in their house they didn’t know was there
If I remember correctly, Talking Angela has/had a “Mature Chat” option you can turn on, so that could be why she’s swearing, cause of the mature chat feature
I just love that they kept the wallace and gromit bloopers also it's funny how oddheader sounds genuinely mad that it's "impossible to make barney die"
um yea no shit. he knows that and says otherwise to bait people into leaving comments, which is exactly what you just did. he played you like a literal fool with zero critical thinking skills.
Despite its outward appearance, Scrap Mechanic does actually have some sinister undertones and I wouldn't be surprised if the game was supposed to be much darker during development.
6:15 got a little idea on how this might happen devs might have, bear with me, used those words to test the chatbot system, however left them in game files
I was a bit too old for the barney craze(im 36 now) but i genuinely dont get the hate for barney. It was just a kids show. There were plenty of those types of shows that were the same. Never quite understood why the dino always got so much hate
Y'know if they just wanted to kill Barney that badly, the fighting game Xenophage has him as a literal hidden character. Probably easier to just play that.
That's the shocking thing found in Paper Mario: The Origami King? Damn, Bowser's Castle is where it gets really shocking in that game, with undertones of a horror movie with the Cutout Soldiers and Scissors. Still, neat video in general, and some of the discoveries here are super interesting too. Didn't expect swear words, defcon references, etc in kids games, lol.
Oh hey I'm the one who submitted the KH2 one, Caleb Pryor. I submitted that one a while ago so my heart skipped a beat when I heard you say my name 😂 Keep up the great stuff man! I never miss a video!
Regarding Kingdom Hearts - typically artists and modelers would go the extra mile to avoid a break in immersion, such as rendering areas that wouldn’t normally be seen on the off-chance they somehow would be. The updated omission is almost assuredly due to how priorities have shifted towards avoiding offense instead as it’s become such a big deal in western territories this past decade. Fun fact, Final Fantasy XV had the opposite problem! From what I recall Gentiana and one of the other female characters had fully-rendered nipples included on their mesh, while Lunafreya’s model used during the Leviathan conflict had her going commando (no rendered anatomy, but still strange). It’s almost impossible to see either without datamining or camera hacks which is probably why they didn’t take the time to render anything “appropriate”. Yes, I should probably find another hobby.
Bro every time oddheader uploads i quickly go check it out, i love this kind of easter egg hunt, sometimes it's creepy and sometimes it's fun, i love it.
Ok so the Wallace and Grommit one was probably just outtakes, since it's really common for voice actors to swear in character when they don't like a take so it can't be used
With scrap mechanic, you don't even to dig deep into the files to find some dark stuff Of course, I'm talking about the woc crate, which is the game's equivalent to cows stuffed into a banana crate, seemingly being killed in the process
I'm pretty sure the Wallace & Gromit profane audio clips are just bloopers/messedup takes that were erroneously left in the files. The fact that he is cracking up and talking out of character in some of them is (IMO) further proof.
I don't even mind the commercials of some random mobile game I will never ever download because your voice is so soothing. I could listen to oddheader talk about hemorrhoid cream for 10 minutes and it would still get a thumbs up from me. 👍👍👍 great video, as always
Talking Angela was one of the few things in life that has genuinely made my blood run cold lmao As a kid hearing about the story that there were people that secretly watched you and whatnot instantly got my creepy side going and i was all over that shiz. Being the curious little shit I kept on with random questions and accusations about me knowing what was going on and basically accusing the silly ai thing of doing shit to try and get a reaction.. until one late night... It just stopped, I can't remember what I said but it was something along the lines of "I know you can see me, and i see you there, watching" and she responded with "no" then "it's over" right after and didn't respond to anything else whatsoever until I deleted the app to which I never re-downloaded as a kid to see if it worked again... The absolute chill and eerie feeling that random, sudden and creepy response for some reason has stuck with me, no wonder people thought that about that crap.. I always wonder if it was coincidence the ai read my msg and tried in some vain way to make a coherent response or... something was there that night with me. Either way this is the first time.ive ever let this story be known

Another interesting thing about Kairi's panty is that in the japanese version of KH2 Final Mix, the original PS2 version of it not the HD remaster, the panty was actually redesigned with a more detailed design than the original KH2 one. lol
This is basically par for the course when it comes to Japan. 😞
We need a wiki entry documenting every panty related feature of the series, y'know, for the knowledge.
@@YOEL_44 Not just for the series, but for every game. I mean to assist in the art of video game development, of course.
lol
Japan makes a game where the young girls have panties that can just barely be seen if you really go looking for them, this upsets the west.
The west makes Cuties.
No one gonna address donalds lack of pants tho
For some reason, the Pagemaster one intrigues me. Overworked programmers giving a big middle finger to their bosses is amazing.
I absolutely love this series, thank you Odd!
@flower has eaten Not sure what that has to do with the video but yeah, same
@@Micro_the_Wave that person is a bot that sends a sketchy link
Wallace himself swearing is awesome, glad it was recovered.
so, i think the wallice and gromett thing was just some bloopers, or some joke takes
if i had to guess, it probably would have either been part of an easter egg, or a potential post credits scene that shows bloopers
as for why they only show up in one specific level? idk, maybe that's where the easter egg/extras thing would be unlocked
me too lol, Cause I know bloopers exist for all the Sam and Max titles under TellTale and were animated as well. So hearing those lines made me instantly think they were left in bloopers. Idk if they were left in to be animated like the Sam and Max ones or accidentally left in by someone cause they were too funny not to keep. really hope that maybe more exist but I doubt.
um yea no shit. he knows that and you just got intentionally baited into leaving a comment. 🤦♂
@@Christopher-dd1ph I don't know if that's the reason he always acts dense but if it is that's smart as hell.
@@Christopher-dd1ph what?
2:24 I feel like Telltale intended to have a blooper real like the Sam and Max games but a higher up said no
2:10 "who ate all the pies you fat bastard" is a classic British football chant. Go to pretty much any game and you'll likely hear it at some point
The sad/scary thing is I literally cannot tell if you're kidding or not with this, and I'm pretty familiar with British culture 😆
Hearing odd say “jumpstart baby” in such a dark, menacing tone already had me hooked
THAT'S THE ANSWER TO BUG JARS!?!?!
the part models where created when memory was low, not just to be seen but to save space. even sheeze gets to the point to show full render eye balls you will never see behind a mask.
or doom guy ruclips.net/video/LwQ6nt-D34E/видео.html&t
also sqaure enix is a Japanese company, they use more complete models in a way, which is how i see it, fully model someone then add the clothing on top
although i'm not sure how Character with half vs full unless they remove that part after the creation. because normally you create the whole character
or the real answer, the modelers were fucking creeps
@@Freeze-DriedWater yeah, they are useless.
So insane.
3:33 "Willie, what's that?" "Well it looks like a giant..." "Johnson! Get on the horn to British Intelligence and let them know about this."
2:39 might be the funniest moment I've seen so far in these videos, oh my god
The desert tower is another item in long line of risqué objects in the paper mario franchise. In pretty much every instalment someone sends you on a fetch quest to give back very suspicious items. Two noteworthy ones are the “you know what” which appears to be a CD containing unknown data and toads “???”. There’s also a tape from the first game. The characters in paper mario LOVE their NSFW time
13:28 In case you guys wanted to see that again.
I love finding out about hidden stuff in kids games whether it is creepy or it is something else

I found my pfp from barneys hide and seek game lol
I think I still have the cartridge for Barneys hide & seek packed away somewhere in storage. I remember picking it out as a kid at k-mart which also no longer exists, but there were posters of barney inside that k-mart with him tied up and a bunch of dynamite around him. My childhood self was shocked that anybody would want to do that to him. My adult self is shocked that those posters existed in a store.
I HAVE IT FROM MY DAD LOL
Barney Hide and Seek looks like one of those games that's actually a creepypasta and that goes from 0 to 60 real quick. The way you described it does not help.
There is some spots in sprite animation that could definitely make content for it
Luigi and Daisy are consenting adults in a healthy, happy, loving relationship, what they do in their bedrooms is not our business.
7:49 note that Marvin the Martian is also there. I doubt any of those images were actually gonna be in a commercially sold videogame.
yeah they were just mockup badges for early 2006 development of what community levels would of looked like
I'm sorry, but I can't stop laughing at Wallace saying "I'm gonna whoop his ass".
I’m 99% sure that the Wallace and grommit audio is just bloopers, and someone snuck the audio into the game secretly as a joke
I just love that they kept the wallace and gromit bloopers
also it's funny how oddheader sounds genuinely mad that it's "impossible to make barney die"
That wallace and gromit one is hilarious lol
The "hanging man" in scrap mechanic is likely just an unfinished object that isn't supposed to be someone hanging, like a doll or something
You know without a doubt that he didn’t want to show what happens when the face met the “player” at 12:10.
LMAO WHAT HAPPENS???? I NEED TO KNOW
If you ever think you are useless, remember that there is a death-respawn feature in a game where you can't die.
1:34 ODDHEADER I WAS JUST WATCHING WALLACE & GROMIT..... WHHHHHHHHYYYYY
Wallace cussing is the funniest thing I've ever heard
Those Wallace lines were outtakes, I doubt it would have been for an Easter egg
um yea no shit. he knows that and says otherwise to bait people into leaving comments, which is exactly what you just did. he played you like a literal fool with zero critical thinking skills.
Despite its outward appearance, Scrap Mechanic does actually have some sinister undertones and I wouldn't be surprised if the game was supposed to be much darker during development.
I broke out laughing when you said “Jumpstart Baby” in a sinister tone. 🤣
Hahaha oh man, me too, I scrolled til I found someone else mention it 😆😄
The Barney one be hitting different and I mean it in a emotional way
3:40 as a gift for the princess.
Gift for himself
6:15 got a little idea on how this might happen
devs might have, bear with me, used those words to test the chatbot system, however left them in game files
"Why was this locked away in Luigi's room again?" read the room, buddy.
4:34 Could also stand for Games Workshop.
Bruh the Angela game has "poke ass" feature @6:20, i always knew the devs of those games were weird like that..
6:03 hahahahaha no. As a dev I can guarantee you that that is 100% intentional
I,used to swear at Angela to see her mad
@@NintendoDSsoulinjectoin Angel😇
That last part with Barney tossing himself off the ledge kinda reminds me of that one nonstandard game over in Sonic CD.
I totally killed Barney back when I had that game. Thanks for finally explaining it!
Oh hey I'm the one who submitted the KH2 one, Caleb Pryor. I submitted that one a while ago so my heart skipped a beat when I heard you say my name 😂
Keep up the great stuff man!
"babe wake up, new oddheader just dropped."
Bro every time oddheader uploads i quickly go check it out, i love this kind of easter egg hunt, sometimes it's creepy and sometimes it's fun, i love it.
Seeing Wallace Swearing Is Just God Tier XD
Any updates on the Doomsday Clock easter egg in Jet Set Radio Future?
Ok so the Wallace and Grommit one was probably just outtakes, since it's really common for voice actors to swear in character when they don't like a take so it can't be used
With scrap mechanic, you don't even to dig deep into the files to find some dark stuff
Of course, I'm talking about the woc crate, which is the game's equivalent to cows stuffed into a banana crate, seemingly being killed in the process
Given the lore of SM, they probably did get killed.
I remember how fun the original Talking Angela was, now it's bad
Oddheader looks like he only eats corndogs and Kraft macaroni.
Ngl, Voice actors breaking character while still in character is one of the funniest things to me.
5:47 ah yes, talking angela chatgpt edition.
I'm pretty sure the Wallace & Gromit profane audio clips are just bloopers/messedup takes that were erroneously left in the files. The fact that he is cracking up and talking out of character in some of them is (IMO) further proof.
Hm, I think the Scrap Machinic one was probably just a developer letting off steam and venting by making that model.
In the Paper Mario one, I'm surprised you didn't point out that the bed was messy. Fitting given the context.
I don't even mind the commercials of some random mobile game I will never ever download because your voice is so soothing. I could listen to oddheader talk about hemorrhoid cream for 10 minutes and it would still get a thumbs up from me.
👍👍👍
great video, as always
Talking Angela was one of the few things in life that has genuinely made my blood run cold lmao
As a kid hearing about the story that there were people that secretly watched you and whatnot instantly got my creepy side going and i was all over that shiz.
That's horrifying
I played a couple Jump Start games growing up back in the day. I wonder what would've happened if I clicked something wrong and got alerted of nuclear launch.
Also, the Wallace thing sounds a bit like a prank or joke in the office that went out of control lol.
Also, congratulations on your marriage! I wish you many happy years together!
I wonder if in the Barney game you actually have lives, like 3 lives, but they're not shown in the HUD, and if you manage to kill Barney 3 times, you could trigger an actual game over screen
I will see, booting up the genesis now
Rest in peace wallace, those were some banger lines, even if they were out of character
