As pointed out by others already, the "good for you, good for me" line is also part of FMJ. However, the first line in the Japanese in 4:55 is likely missing the word 花 in between the 緑 and は, as that last は doesn't make much sense there and with the 花 it would form the line 草木は緑 花は咲き誇り (plants are green, flowers are in full bloom) and is the opening line of the song 静かな日々の階段を (shizuka na hibi no kaidan wo) by Dragon Ash, which again is the song that plays to the closing credits of the movie Battle Royale. So I'm wondering if whoever put that in simply wanted to reference their favorite movies or something.
5:55 The rest of that is from a different scene in Full Metal Jacket/more Viet Nam related stuff. It's part of a song they sing while running in bootcamp, albeit a little rearranged: ruclips.net/video/ZJNQZ_fot0A/видео.html The "Vegetation is green and in full bloom" refers to the "what makes the grass grow? Blood, blood, blood red blood" call and response.
it goes "What makes the grass grow? Blood makes the grass grow! What makes the blood flow? Marines make the blood flow!" so "Vegetation is green and in full bloom" means that they are killing a lot of people
That’s honestly probably the full reference, the full bloom part that is. Our old MTI used to sing some of the best shit in basic, that from FMJ was one of them.. another good one was My Girlfriend Is a Vegetable... and idk if maybe that’s something to do with it?? I used to work for Humongous Entertainment in the late '90s doing tech support. The Pajama Sam thing is only the tip of the iceberg, and the most mild thing that I recall being added. From what I recall, the first 3 Pajama Sam games *and* the Spy Fox games had similar content that was hidden until you modified the configuration ini file. In one of the earlier PS games, if you edited the ini file properly, Pajama Sam's flap in the back of his union suit would fall down showing his butt. In one of the Spy Fox games, editing the ini file would give access to an image that showed Spy Fox in fetish gear chained to a wall with his partner Monkey Penny in dominatrix gear holding a whip (I think this was in Dry Cereal). There were more, but it's been over 20 years since I worked there and I can't remember them all.
I almost forgot... In the Blues Clues game we made, the guy that played the main human did a Christopher Walken impression that got added to the game that could be unlocked in the ini file.
I beg to differ on Klonoa 2 not having the "war is hell" theme. The third kingdom you go to is literally named Volk (echoing imperialism, alliance with Nazi Germany and WWII), is said to embody discord, and consists of two factions waging endless war. The destruction of war is very salient and includes a scene where Klonoa passes next to a building which is bombarded a moment after the occupants flee, a mother dragging her child off a playground that gets bombarded a moment later and the main missions in that kingdom include shutting down two nuclear reactors, one of which is on the brink of overloading and killing everyone in the kingdom. In light of that, the text is not out of place.
As someone who has been interested in trying the Klonoa games for years but just haven't gotten around to it, just what the hell are these games about? I thought they were just your run-of-the-mill cutesy platformers that were everywhere in the 90s, I had no idea there was a deeper narrative to it all.

My parents rented Klonoa 2 when I was 7 years old (2002/3). I have a few vivid but abstract memories of the game, and have been trying to figure out what game it was my entire adult life. This video gave me the answer I have been searching for, I cannot put into words how satisfying it feels to finally know.
So, on the topic of the ROBLOX code, that actually happened to me, but it wasn’t the video of a clown. Someone put in a code that played a screaming sound over an image of Jeff the killer on everyone’s screens. Needless to say, I didn’t okay ROBLOX for a while after that.

Mario Kart Arcade GP has a really bizarre one: the game's ROM actually contains a picture from the Beslan School Hostage Crisis. Why they put that in a Super Mario arcade racer is beyond me.
Some people think the mysterious roar in A Hat In Time is from some sort of beast that lives in Hat Kid's ship. What exactly this beast's purpose is, or why Hat Kid has it in some inaccessible part of her ship, OR why it seemingly can enter and exit at will, has never been determined.
it honestly reminded me of a background sound in SCP:Containment Breach were you hear a bunch of roaring, them a machine gun and suddenly an explosion and the camera shakes except that is a horror game so it actually makes sense
9:36 These was from the Fishing event in 2015. The fishing maps had traps in certain places which could kill you. It was only available in 2015 and hasn't been used since
The death animations were also inspired from the death animations from a flash game named "Mouton", which basically had the same premise of Transformice but it was with sheep.
TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if the Hat in Time one is explained by "literally just a reference to Splatoon," especially knowing the devs like to joke around with their fanbase. The entire audio is just so similar.
The text dump for the jungle book had to be because beating the ENTIRE GAME during the demo would not have been feasible and so it was literally an unreachable screen, much like the hot coffee situation.
"The vegetation is green in full bloom" I dont really get the reference but "Good for me, good for you." Is a reference to one of gunnery Sargeant Hartmans cadences. "Mama and papa were laying in bed! Mama rolled over this is what she said! Gimme some! PT! Good for you! Good for me!"
5:45 From what I've heard this line is supposed to be an uplifting saying followed by the full metal jacket line. As a Klonoa fan, my best guess is that it's supposed to have some lore reason to the game.
"Hey kid, you're playing that game again? Try pressing up down down up left down right then go to the shop and hold L1 and R2 at the same time, while pressing the B button 40 times"
I’m always excited to watch a new oddheader. I know I’m about to see some weird stuff and not the same easter egg covered by everyone and their mother.

@oddheader, for years I was always looking for an easter egg channel that had unique and undiscovered secrets/non-repetitive stuff that actually interests me. Not only do you fill that void that I had for years, but you give history on the game, do extensive research and really go into detail about easter eggs. I applaud the level of quality in your videos and it really is unparalleled. Thank you for your channel and I look forward to every single upload. You're absolutely the BEST easter egg youtube period. tl;dr take my damn like
your videos just have this vibe of stuff i used to watch on early youtube, the type where it was people who are genuinely passionate about the videos they make and arent trying to cater to maybe an algorithm or being minimalistic, etc, if that makes sense? it feels unapologetically you and its very enjoyable for that. its well put together and informative, with a lot of callouts to the people who made it possible and found it in the first place. i think it's really cool, and seeing your notifs is enough to get m e out of bed to watch them some days!
Humongous Entertainment really just went and said "Cops aren't even pigs, they're pork byproduct" Also the fact that the "Disney fired a guy for even joking about pornographic Disney content" story happened to Harlan "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" Ellison makes it twice as hilarious.
There's nothing like waking up to a new episode of "I don't know these games, but that's interesting nevertheless" mystery videos by you, my good sire!
Can you give an example? Edit: I seriously don't remember anything all that shocking in the original doom games, including Doom 1993. It's very possible I'm forgetting something, though. Or I'm numb to the more frightening stuff by now. Either way.
I was coming here to say the same thing. During the drills, the drill sargent has a long call and response chant/song. At one point, the chant goes "good for you (good for you!) good for me (good for me!)" So everything in the poem except for the first line is from Full Metal Jacket. Bizzare!
I can just imagine Snatcher popping up in Hat Kid's room saying, "Look kiddo, I know I told you I didn't want to see you again... *but you wanna hear my newfound trombone skills?"*
No, it doesn’t. That would be a ridiculously specific and prudish law that wouldn't inherently protect kids from naughty stuff that they already eat up, because children are monsters. Besides, people who bought the game deserve to get as much out of it as possible.
I know why they put the weird sound in Hat in Time; it was so I would remember that weird hat kid game and go buy it to show to my son. He didn't think the sound was that scary, or at least not nearly as scary as the frozen masion level. But what he DID notice was that the spooky noise happens in your bedroom, which is also the hub for the spooky planet and has ghosts on the doors and stuff
9:47 As someone who played transformice 5 years ago, the death animation might have something to do with a speacial cut event since it doesn't have anything to do with the game Transformice has a long lasting history of making speacial event so that might be the case
Here’s a little Easter egg in Splatoon 3 I find really funny. One of the three main idols is named Frye. She’s an inkling who’s known for being based off Indian culture, her personality, and her big forehead. She has a voice line that sounds like she’s saying “what the f**k?!” . I’m almost 100% sure it’s still in the game. It’s also become a giant meme in the Splatoon community.
Oddheader: Saying Harlan Ellison is just "some writer". Harlan Ellison fans: HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE.
There’s something strangely calming about your videos, which is why I tend to watch them when I’m feeling anxious. Thank you for all your work- I love the videos and I love your music. ❤️
Hey I just noticed some thing The audio of the ominous noise from A Hat In Time is kinda creepy So is the ominous audio from Splatoon But remember how you have to wait 20 minutes in BOTH games to hear the noise, and listening back to the sounds, they sound rather similar well when comparing Splatoon’s noise (6:45) to the Steam release of AHIT (7:02) Wouldn’t you agree?
The "good for me, good for you" part of that is also from full metal jacket, Its apart of the drill instructors song the platoon would chant during the scenes where they were running the mile.

I remember hearing the creepy Hat in Time audio back in like 2018, I still don’t know why it was there, like you said it reminds me of the creepy audio in Splatoon. It’s so interesting that so many games just have creepy left over stuff in their game files, or used but left unfound for years.
My guess would be that it's supposed to remind players that they have a game left on standby.
I think it was added to remind people not to keep their games on for an excessive amount of time.
It’s apparently from a boss fight
I remember seeing that Clown video before but I can't remember exactly where.
Wasn't it from some sort of like, Serial Killer's RUclips video who was acting like cryptic or something? lol

Some people think the mysterious roar in A Hat In Time is from some sort of beast that lives in Hat Kid's ship. What exactly this beast's purpose is, or why Hat Kid has it in some inaccessible part of her ship, OR why it seemingly can enter and exit at will, has never been determined.
it honestly reminded me of a background sound in SCP:Containment Breach were you hear a bunch of roaring, them a machine gun and suddenly an explosion and the camera shakes

These was from the Fishing event in 2015. The fishing maps had traps in certain places which could kill you. It was only available in 2015 and hasn't been used since
The death animations were also inspired from the death animations from a flash game named "Mouton", which basically had the same premise of Transformice but it was with sheep.

PT! PT! Good for you! Good for me! It's one of the military cadences
“Roblox is a game that couldn’t more fit the description of child friendly”
**uses meepcity as background footage**
The text dump for the jungle book had to be because beating the ENTIRE GAME during the demo would not have been feasible and so it was literally an unreachable screen, much like the hot coffee situation.
"The vegetation is green in full bloom" I dont really get the reference but "Good for me, good for you." Is a reference to one of gunnery Sargeant Hartmans cadences. "Mama and papa were laying in bed! Mama rolled over this is what she said! Gimme some! PT! Good for you! Good for me!"
the fact that kobayashi got the best idea to tell the easter egg to random kids is pretty funny
I honestly think the Hat In Time sounds are just a refrence to Splatoon noises lmao
seeing transformice here really threw me for a loop lmao
5:45 From what I've heard this line is supposed to be an uplifting saying followed by the full metal jacket line. As a Klonoa fan, my best guess is that it's supposed to have some lore reason to the game.

5:53 I think that "good for me, good for you" is also a line from Full Metal Jacket during one of the marching songs in the training part of the film
I was coming here to say the same thing. During the drills, the drill sargent has a long call and response chant/song. At one point, the chant goes "good for you (good for you!) good for me (good for me!)" So everything in the poem except for the first line is from Full Metal Jacket. Bizzare!
@@johnclavis I suspect that the first line is also from FMJ, just mistranslated from Japanese.

No, it doesn’t. That would be a ridiculously specific and prudish law that wouldn't inherently protect kids from naughty stuff that they already eat up, because children are monsters. Besides, people who bought the game deserve to get as much out of it as possible.
@@imfsresidentotaku9699 this mf has the nerve to complain on a 3 year old comment

It’s also become a giant meme in the Splatoon community.
well the "good for me, good for you" is from the first half of Full Metal Jacket, so it may be 3 separate quotes

Hey I just noticed some thing
The audio of the ominous noise from A Hat In Time is kinda creepy
So is the ominous audio from Splatoon
But remember how you have to wait 20 minutes in BOTH games to hear the noise, and listening back to the sounds, they sound rather similar well when comparing Splatoon’s noise (6:45) to the Steam release of AHIT (7:02)
Wouldn’t you agree?
The "good for me, good for you" part of that is also from full metal jacket, Its apart of the drill instructors song the platoon would chant during the scenes where they were running the mile.
“Eat my dust and like my crack.”
-Bomberman, 2021
The "good for me, good for you" is from a marching cadence in Full Metal Jacket, in the first half of the movie while they are in boot camp.
