I used to work for Humongous Entertainment in the late '90s doing tech support. The Pajama Sam thing is only the tip of the iceberg, and the most mild thing that I recall being added. From what I recall, the first 3 Pajama Sam games *and* the Spy Fox games had similar content that was hidden until you modified the configuration ini file. In one of the earlier PS games, if you edited the ini file properly, Pajama Sam's flap in the back of his union suit would fall down showing his butt. In one of the Spy Fox games, editing the ini file would give access to an image that showed Spy Fox in fetish gear chained to a wall with his partner Monkey Penny in dominatrix gear holding a whip (I think this was in Dry Cereal). There were more, but it's been over 20 years since I worked there and I can't remember them all.

The destruction of war is very salient and includes a scene where Klonoa passes next to a building which is bombarded a moment after the occupants flee, a mother dragging her child off a playground that gets bombarded a moment later and the main missions in that kingdom include shutting down two nuclear reactors, one of which is on the brink of overloading and killing everyone in the kingdom. In light of that, the text is not out of place.
As someone who has been interested in trying the Klonoa games for years but just haven't gotten around to it, just what the hell are these games about? My parents rented Klonoa 2 when I was 7 years old (2002/3). I have a few vivid but abstract memories of the game, and have been trying to figure out what game it was my entire adult life. This video gave me the answer I have been searching for, I cannot put into words how satisfying it feels to finally know.

I had to check again, and A Hat in Time is rated "T" for "Teen", due to "Fantasy Violence" and "Alcohol and Tabaco Reference". I don't remember this being the case, but it's been a few years. Here’s a little Easter egg in Splatoon 3 I find really funny. One of the three main idols is named Frye. She’s an inkling who’s known for being based off Indian culture, her personality, and her big forehead. She has a voice line that sounds like she’s saying “what the f**k?!” . I have a theory for the A Hat in Time Easter egg. It's largely due to the placement, as the room it's activated in is the hub room for the game's "horror" level. One of the acts in it features a character named Queen Vanessa, and the player has to avoid them and sneak around their house to get a time piece. The sound that Queen Vanessa makes when she catches the player sounds very similar to the noise from the egg.

My parents rented Klonoa 2 when I was 7 years old (2002/3). I have a few vivid but abstract memories of the game, and have been trying to figure out what game it was my entire adult life. This video gave me the answer I have been searching for, I cannot put into words how satisfying it feels to finally know.
I remember hearing the creepy Hat in Time audio back in like 2018, I still don’t know why it was there, like you said it reminds me of the creepy audio in Splatoon. It’s so interesting that so many games just have creepy left over stuff in their game files, or used but left unfound for years.
My guess would be that it's supposed to remind players that they have a game left on standby.
I think it was added to remind people not to keep their games on for an excessive amount of time.

I had to check again, and A Hat in Time is rated "T" for "Teen", due to "Fantasy Violence" and "Alcohol and Tabaco Reference". I don't remember this being the case, but it's been a few years. I can't recall exactly what makes this more intense than, say, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, which has largely the same content, but is rated "E-10+" and is a lot more serious and action-packed.

TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if the Hat in Time one is explained by "literally just a reference to Splatoon," especially knowing the devs like to joke around with their fanbase. The entire audio is just so similar.
The text dump for the jungle book had to be because beating the ENTIRE GAME during the demo would not have been feasible and so it was literally an unreachable screen, much like the hot coffee situation.

Just did some Googling, the vegetation might be a reference to the fact that the training sequence in FMJ is supposed to be November/December, but the trees are fully bloomed, filmed in spring or summer.
As for the other half, it's similar to one of the cadence calls during the training sequence. "PT, PT, Good for you, Good for me"

Here’s a little Easter egg in Splatoon 3 I find really funny.
One of the three main idols is named Frye. She’s an inkling who’s known for being based off Indian culture, her personality, and her big forehead. She has a voice line that sounds like she’s saying “what the f**k?!” . I’m almost 100% sure it’s still in the game. It’s also become a giant meme in the Splatoon community.

I know why they put the weird sound in Hat in Time; it was so I would remember that weird hat kid game and go buy it to show to my son. He didn't think the sound was that scary, or at least not nearly as scary as the frozen masion level. But what he DID notice was that the spooky noise happens in your bedroom, which is also the hub for the spooky planet and has ghosts on the doors and stuff

I have a theory for the A Hat in Time Easter egg. It's largely due to the placement, as the room it's activated in is the hub room for the game's "horror" level. One of the acts in it features a character named Queen Vanessa, and the player has to avoid them and sneak around their house to get a time piece. The sound that Queen Vanessa makes when she catches the player sounds very similar to the noise from the egg.
Klonoa!!! That was one of my first video games as a child and I remember it fondly. I'm so happy to see it brought up on this channel! Truly an underrated game!
