I travel to the Wildlands non-operating Park to do a bushcraft backpacking solo overnight with my new bushcraft backpack. Designed for me by the Canadian company YNOT.
I hike in for about 5 hours, while testing the new pack, I find a secluded lake, set up camp, cut firewood, explore, cook supper, and spend a very enjoyable night alone in the woods.

The german sentence you read was a defaced proverb, like one you would find on a public toilet: "Hast Sonne im Herzen und Zwiebeln im Bauch, dann kannst du gut furzen und Luft hast du auch."
Rough(!) translation: "Have sunshine in your heart and onions in the belly, then you can fart well and you also have air."
A nicer version I found: "Hab Sonne im Herzen und Zwiebeln im Bauch, dann hast du Freude am Leben und Luft hast du auch."
Again, a rough(!) translation: "Have sunshine in your heart and onions in the belly, then you have joy in your life and you also have air."

Don't feel bad. The little frying pan does not work as well. One thing that I would suggest is that if you want to carry something to make bannock, you may want to consider taking olive oil with you. I sometimes take olive oil in a liquor canteen and it works great. I also take some spray on olive oil and that also works. Might help when making bannock.

That first night sky shot is just beautiful.
The area around Minden is very pretty, and it's great that they have established this park there. For better or worse, it is very accessible to Toronto (2 hours or less, as long as the traffic on the 400 isn't too insane), so hopefully many will get to enjoy this lovely place.

Joe, one more tip for the stove. I bought a few of these and others same type pretty much. I use a side cut coffee can lid under the stove. Just find a coffee can same size or little bigger the footprints are all the same almost and it fits in bag on bottom. Safe for floor of woods and not heavy and don't take room. Won't fall off a rock tried and tested for 5 years

I'm happy that your Go-Pro survived. and I'm compelled to offer a suggestion. I have the Snow Peak 900 as well and it cooks "biscuits " very well. You might try it over coals so the heat is dispersed evenly across the bottom of the pan. Low and slow is best for what you are cooking in a Ti pan.The evening sunset and fire video was outstanding in my opinion. I appreciate all the hard work you put in. I had to laugh when you said listen, what do hear, nothing. For me that's the best part of traveling to an out of the way camp site, no human sound. Thanks my friend. Enjoyed it!

you really should do some more backpacking style videos along with bushcraft in it, but just more focused on the backpacking portion but you highlight your camping and bushcrafting

Nice outing Joe. Those little pans and Ti ones in general are tough. Pack in a small piece of folded tin foil. You actually had plenty of fire before you added wood, but you were loosing all the heat around the pan. Make a little tent over the top of the stove/pan with the foil and it will hold in the heat like an oven and bake just right.

You definetely need Sony Action Cam, man! It's splashproof without a box and shoots really good as well. Had dcouple of times when it falls to the creek and nothing happened. In general - the movie is as great as u always do ;)

Fun trip, Joe. The scenery was epic. Would be nice to spend a lot more time there. Going to make it a multiple day thing when you go back?
Tip for your bannock, make it a little dryer. It was far too wet. If it's sticking to your hands, add more dry ingredients.

to prevent food sticking , one you have melted your butter or heated up your oil just sprinkle a little salt onto the pan before cooking assuming the food can be salted.. that should do the trick

Thanks for the video Joe. I was supposed to do a similar solo weekend getaway, but until my knee recovers fully I'm stuck at home.
