Am I the only one that had no idea how amazing Gary Numan is? I only knew the cars song and that's it. His older music sounds current to today. Head of his time for sure
People are catching on. Pretty much everything from Sacrifice on is genius level songwriting. Particularly his last few albums - Jagged, Splinter, Savage and Intruder - are just end to end brilliant heavy yet melodic industrial music with no filler.
@@calebfuller4713 agree 100%
Took my bf to see him in Portland a couple of weeks ago-Had no idea! His show was so much fun and the more I hear his music and learn about him, the bigger fan I become
@@vgentle was that the show he did with ministry by chance?
I knew he was amazing since Cars! He is amazing and way ahead of his time especially in 1979/1980! I remember being blown away when I first heard the song cars I was 16 then and I was blown away! I saw him in 2021 and he put on a fantastic show
Numan's new stuff is FUCKING AMAZING.
Fucking!!!💣
I love the way Gary Numan has so many variations of his songs...the man absolutely kicks serious ass...None of his songs ever get tiresome,he plays them so many different ways...I love it when he brings the heavy guitar sound to his songs
The Godfather of Electronic Music has something to say!
What does Brian Eno have to say?....
That's Krafwert my friend
Every time Gary came to play at the Liverpool Empire i was there in the audience, his music live is awesome, its powerful and heavy you feel it from the ground up shaking your bollocks and pounding your chest, go see him live its an amazing experience.
Paul roadz given the chance I would love to see gorgeous Gary live 8m an asperger as well as him
I'm excited to see him live soon
Gary Numan was Trent Reznor before Trent Reznor was Trent Reznor.
TRUTH!
this is my first time seeing this and i totally agree
Les Dishman and Jesus Christ was Trent Reznor before Gary Numan was. GN has turned his style into NIN from his early days. Love that they both keep the faith with analogue in the digital music age.
I think you got it backwards. He didn't adopt this style til after NIN had become famous. Earlier work/style looks nothing like NIN.
Yes.. I thought the same.
Gary Newman is fantastic.
This man is SO impressive! He just keeps getting better and better with age!
Love the way this guy blends raw guitar with drums and synths just great I'm lovin it .
Gary Numan still rockin after 30 years....and i've been listening since the start !!!
I have just found this and whooah it is outstanding.
Trent Reznor admires GN and this is why!!
Gary has always been a lot darker than people realize, he has shown it more and more in recent years, then you realise how powerful his early music was, it easily stands up to what he and other do to it,
@ Kim. I also have been a fan from the start. What these trolls need to realise is that, for all that Mr Numan given the music world, as noted by denwad67. He also was the 1st to use music videos in the UK, he achieved No1 in the charts with both singles and albums, both here and in the USA. And all this done without the help of mass commercialism we see today. When Artists today say, they're making their own way, well Numan did this. He was massively slated by the press and critics.
A man with ambition and talent. And very loyal fans. Keep on rocking Gary!
Cars was pretty much a Top 10 hit of the 70's. It defined what we felt to be living in the 70's and for that I will always be thankful and I look back on those days as a great time to be alive.
Great musician. A witness of our times, a sign of our epoch.
Fantastic! This man is a genius!
I absolutely loved this....Very different sound to the album versions. Differently good ;)
I agree...GREAT band, full of 🔥🔥🔥
“Cars” kills as well.
“A Prayer For the Unborn” is absolutely exemplary!!
He is indeed one of a kind...whatever kind that is. He's absolutely amazing...brilliant and I adore him. How could you not with the way his music makes you feel? Many different things and all of them wonderful
Awesome performance! KEXP does it the best. I'm a new Gary Numan fan.
Join the club!
I’ve been a HUGE fan since “Are Friends Electric ?” came out in 1979.
🖤🌹🖤
I saw gary numan live month at a music festival. Had time to spare so I thought why not hear the "cars guy" holy shit was I blown away by how industrial metal this man is!
Absolut Amazing !!! The one and only Grandmaster "Gary Numan" !!!
Prayer for the unborn is as amazing as ever. Thanks for posting this
how wonderful to be alive in 2013 and to hear new music by gary numan, adam ant, depeche mode, douglas mccarthy, nine inch nails, omd, boy george, alison moyet, erasure. the list is way too long but long live electronic music!
numan and guitars,yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssss
Finally get to see this guy live in a few months, in Pontiac, Michigan! Yes, I have to drive about 15 hrs from north central MN, but whatever! :-)
...why not just drive down to Minneapolis instead? he plays at Mill City Nights tomorrow!
What a mind blowing performance.
Love Gary Numan and other darker music acts like
Nine Inch Nails, Chelsea Wolfe, Massive Attack, Portishead, HTDA, Allflaws
After seeing I Am Ruin by accident I am so happy Gary's still at it and kicking ever loving ass! Hell yeah, Gary!
Oops... My Name is Ruin.
Yup thankfully I saw it by accident too and now am obsessed with him. I loved him back in '79 and more to love now. Are Friends Electric and the new Intruder album are fantastic. Have my tickets for October. Hope Delta V does not cancel it here in Boston.
This totally ROCKS!
He is the best out of all from this age of synth music cant remember how many times I have seen him but the first time was on his Telekon touring riding around in his little egg looking space age vehicle. He wore white , black and red leather changing several times and had the very best light show I have seen for such a small show at the forum in California. Then saw him in a club in Florida about 2 years ago. Still the best cant wait to see him again for this tour...
sighhhh....so fantastic. Gary is phenomenal and the band is stellar! Incredible show.
There's D.M and Gary Numan still around from the Early Eighties Synth....and they both managed to re-invent themselves a few times without totally blowing it! Amazing people and, amazing music.I wish The Banshees would do another Album...just for the hell of it...
Philip Archer also Kraftwerk is one of classic synth music bands which still playing
AWW....!How i wish...i could see you LIVE...!You ARE SO DIFFERENT....!
I love Gary!!
What a performance, hell yeah! Gary is the rockin' man.
I saw one of the shows on his Pleasure Principle 30th anniversary tour and was blown away. And that's why I'll be in the audience again later this month when he plays in Brooklyn.
absolutely amazing...pure genius and gets better the longer he is around.....9 days to go to splinter....bring it on!!!!
....will see him in 3 hours, can't wait to hear the nwe songs live :)
Excellent performance!

Man this is fantastic! Rock on!!
Great performance of new work
this genius and his music never gets old !
Ese guitarrista vino con Peter Murphy A Chile, Saludos desde Huamalata
I love the live changes to the tracks!
"Awesome! - Numan at his usual best!"
Oh my this is so amazing!!!
Seen NIN several times, seen GN once, hope to add to both. I love how it seems that GN influenced TR, and then a bit vice versa. Both incredibly awesome.
Insanely great audio mix!
Love this version of cars!!!!! Wicked performance
The Guitarist (don't know his name, but I know he stood in for Steve Harris for most of the US tour), breaks a string during Halo, which is why he switched guitars for A Prayer For The Unborn.
Really, a brilliant Guitarist. He looks awfully familiar...
+Jackal Fox On guitar its Mark Gemini Thwiate, he was in The Mission thru most of the 90s and early 2000s, he's also played with Tricky, Pete Murphy and Ginger from the Wildhearts amongst others.
Thanks, I done a bit of research on him since then, very talented guy, top guitarist. I've grown into a fan of him somewhat. :)
Yeah, as soon as this video started I was about to comment "Hey, is that Mark Gemini Thwaite!?!" - then I saw you beat me to it by a year... He is a great guitarist - Tricky turned me on to him - he was easily the best guitar player Tricky ever had, and responsible for a lot of his heavy sound. His version of "Girls" live was always better than the album version with the Chilli Peppers ;-)
That's John 6. lol!
Thanks for posting... enjoyed it.
I'm Gary's lockdown fan a newbie I love him
Keeps getting better and better. Numan is god !!!!!
Excelente Gary Numan!
im glad we have one of the two pioneering geniuses of space-age synth pop STILL making music. the other genius being mike score from AFOS. i wish mike score would start writing this kind of music
This is amazing! Thanks KEXP !!
kexp keeps getting legends on stage. keep it up ;)
"A Prayer For The Unborn" is really a jewel🎸🎵🎤🎶🎹🎻🀄💎thank You so much Dear Gary and your musicians too Marc Bolan would be so proud just like we are for your amazing career Robert Palmer protects You👻👼👽🐬😑and we did not forget Paul Gardiner who believe in G.N🙏🙅
This is SICK as hell!!
Impresionante!!!
¡Que hermoso!

The one show I didn't get into that day. Gary was all over Bumbershoot and it was fantastic
Antes que gary numan no habia nada ...Gary human and then...forgotten genious
This is good😊
MASTER AT WORK
More synth!
this is epic
Brillaint man x
Cire sretan rodjendan!!!
wow. This. Is a good. Verstion of the opening track
this is a cool concert. don't know why people compare him to Reznor. Gary was out before him. He has an Alice Cooper look about him if anybody.
batz capo Well, I think it's quite a compliment, but the opposite way... Reznor has said Numan's been quite an influence on NIN... they have been together at NIN's concerts :)
Ughh! Of all the times I wasn't in Seattle... this has to be the worst! If I knew he was performing at Bumbershoot, I'd flown home just to see him...
This is TRUE LIVE, why he didnt do this on his last tours? LIVE guitars and LIVE keyboards! Good job Gary.
Hes even better. Heavey😊
Great!!!!
Nice show ... the look at 10:59 precious !! ha ha ... thanks ;}
This is fucking great goddamn
Sensational
The Bowie Of Electro!!!!
Gary Numan The Father!
gary is unique! greetings from the austrian "geri"!
This is epic. it wasn’t for Depeche Mode Numan would not have found his place back in the business again.
GARY NUMANSOO ROCKS THE HIZZOUSE
GARY NUMAN!
Incredible job. Fan since tubeway army.
gary is good at imitating! either reznor or bowie? but you gotta understand he's just paying homage and respect to those who are influencing him at the moment! thats brave , good and something all artists do! it's a good thing and he isnt hiding behind it! therefore he is an original and a great musician! go gary!
frzndgood GN was releasing cutting edge records and touring the world when TR was still trying to figure out what or who he was! Yes, he was massively affected and influenced by Bowie, but really, I think you've got it backwards with Reznor's influence on Numan. I think it's more Numans influence on TN. Just my opinion.
that was fakin great
The father of industrial synth rock, both Depeche & NIN owe this bloke a lot-who cares if the hair isn't really his...
Depeche Mode has been around Almost as long as Gary, and did it all on their own.
niiiice
Tense!
Been going to see Gary Nu man since the early 80s always better live and still the dogs bollocks.
yeaaaaaaaaaah
Just read through the comments n some of you lot are real wankers!!!! Who cares about clothes image and fucking HAIR!!!!! I've been a fan for ever. This is not the best live un I've heard but I have been to the UK tour In Bristol and it was total killer. Bad guitar Bad drums n Ade bein crap is the biggest load of shite in my opinion and I don't often air em!!!
sounds great, nice and raw, without the wall of pre-recorded backing vocals for a change!
Gary Newman...master vampire.....
This is so hot!
❤❤❤❤❤🔥🔥
I'm dead! ffuuff !
🤘
Why did not he play are friends electric on 31 august 2013 he should have played that that is what makes me mad 😤
Lmao, I must be tired as hell cuz I was convinced that despite it saying "The Fall" that he was in fact opening with a seriously heavy version of Modest Mouse's Float On...
Edit: Oh no...oh no The Fall can be sung over Float On and I just did that and it flows perfectly...oh no.
Enough with the Ad's Already ? Right in the middle of a song ?
Is this performance available for download? somewhere ?
